Not helped, but December and January are the games against relegation rivals that JDT couldn't win that have really hurt us.  We failed to beat Rotherham, and Huddersfield home and away.  Same with Plymouth.

And but for the width of a crossbar we would have lost to  Rotherham. The warning signs were there back then

I must admit at one point I followed this trail of thought, but most likely relegation and admin would lead to the loss of the academy and training grounds and with the current financial setup in football and the new finance deals coming in we'd have more chance of regularly playing Stanley than Burnley for the foreseeable future.

Quite possible but still doesn’t mean the owners will depart. They’re rich and they’re arrogant and we’re just pawns in their vast empire.

relegation could be the best thing to happen for us,the indians might **** off, administration ok ,id`e give anything just to be shut of them

Don’t understand this. Why would they leave if we went down? Why would one automatically lead to the other? Relegation is the worst thing that could happen.

If we’re honest…we deserve nothing else.
A shambles of a club with plastic management and paper players …we deserve to be relegated.
The final cuts are being inflicted..death is near…I’m surprised we’ve survived this long.
Embarrassed to be  a fan tonight ….it’s no longer  the club we knew and respected .

I don’t understand this. As fans we do not deserve to be relegated. We’ve suffered enough. The players and managers deserve an almighty bollocking from the CEO (which won’t happen obviously) but fans deserve better. Much better

Just imagine if Jim had gone…

I think it’s now as simple as beat Wednesday and we’re safe, lose to them and we’re down.

Decided not to go in the end. Best decision I’ve made in a while. Agree about the Wednesday match but I’ve a feeling it will go to the last game with us needing at least a point against Leicester to stay up

Think there will be goals galore.

Think Saints will win as they usually start matches well and when on song would tear our slow and static defence to pieces.  I see them racing into a 2 or 3 goal lead  with a the final score ending up 1-4 or 2-4.

Keep up the good work old chap. Always entertaining!

You mean a draw. In the UK ties are what you used to wear around your neck. Occasionally you get them in cricket.
Incidentally Mrs Shoelaces went to her first baseball match in Cincinnati this week. Her verdict - “ rounders on steroids “.

I like baseball. Pace of the game and ambience very similar to cricket. I like watching the techniques of the bowlers (pitchers) and batters (now horribly used in cricket also).  Went to the Red Sox v LA Angels game last year, low scoring game but v enjoyable.

Back to the Saints game, a draw would be a good result against them. They're a good side with some talented players. Hope A Armstrong doesn't score.

  8. Branthwaite didn’t look the part at Rovers but has obviously improved since then. Harwood Bellis on the other hand looked top class to me and a future England player way ahead of Branthwaite

To be fair to Mowbray among the flops the club got some excellent loans under him when you consider we’ve also had the likes of Tosin, Elliott, Reid and Giles, who looked an excellent left back when he was played in his proper position.

    That is extraordinary.

If games lasted 75 minutes we would still be chasing a play-off place.../

It's not new. It was a big problem under Mowbray and has continued. Points to lack of fitness maybe, poor concentration and poor game management - leaders on the pitch who know how to see out games.

How many of those goals conceded have been down to Pears ? What can a manager do about that ? Drop him and play Wahlstadt ?

How many goals have we given away not through poor defending but to downright bloody awful goalkeeping. It just should not happen at this level. Priority number one in the summer has to be a solid proven goalkeeper. He doesn’t have to be special, just one who doesn’t keep letting the team down with silly, basic mistakes

Would be very surprised if Gallagher is there at all.

Understand he has a transmissible illness which will also have taken quite a bit out of him.

Is being useless transmissible? In which case almost the entire Rovers squad have been infected. I wouldn’t be bothered if he were out for the season seeing as he’s as much use as a chocolate fireguard even when he’s fit

1-1 would be a relief against the Black Cats. It’s the best we can hope for under the present circumstances

  12. It’ll be especially painful if that rubbish goal proves to be the winner.

    Just now, K-Hod said:

Thought when we got a new manager, we were meant to get a ‘new manager bounce’, but we haven’t won under him yet. But apparently it’s a good thing we got rid of his predecessor.
What a time to be alive.

To quote Steve Coogan ‘this is liquid football’. But it actually isn’t, is it?

Come on, Tomasson had to go
