  1. That is a frightening team. Has Chrisene ever played in central midfield? Not the best on the ball. And has O'Riordan ever played at full back? A big gangly centre back. I know that Buckley has started to show that perhaps he wasn't necessarily our heir to the Wharton throne but he has to be a more suitable player there than Chrisene, and I know you really cannot stomach Brittain (I am not his biggest fan, unsure if your dislike of him is more because you was so fond of Nyambe who himself wasnt particularly good) but he surely is a better option than sticking a young centre back there. Gilsenan seems to be getting more and more popular every week that he is not selected but I am wary of being too excited just because hes scored a few goals for the under 21s, Jack Vale and even Harry Leonard showed how big the gap in quality is. Deserves a spot on the bench over players like Telalovic though. Gallagher looked good when he came back into the team, his last 2 or 3 performances have been totally ineffective perhaps partly due to playing so much after injury, but mainly because of Eustace shoving him on the wing in a side that rarely attacks. He usually does well at Boro, I would play him up top rather than Szmodics who is best behind a striker.
  2. Im not convinced those players would do "very well" in League 1.
  3. Its only been mentioned because Eustace has clung onto it as a badge of honour in press conferences a few times. Clutching at straws. In 7 games we have only took the lead twice and obviously held on to neither.
  4. Havent got a win in 7 v non top 6 opposition but we have drawn a couple we went 1 down in. A serious new manager bounce.
  5. The thing is, there are so many teams down there, it shouldnt be too hard to scrape over the line. If we did win twice of the last 9, that would be 2 in 16, so wouldnt bode well for next season. Nor would it be an achievement.
  6. Hard to see us getting anything based on how we are playing. Tronstad, JRC and Carter wont be back which only makes it harder. Forget the back 3. At least McFadzean's suspension might force the managers hand. But be wont see this as must win either. Could we go into the international break in the bottom 3?
  7. Its all about parroting the party line. There wasnt a negative word said about JDT when here, now things Eustace has said are echoed and held against Tomasson, we got a couple of draws when losing being the main one. Also the excuses Eustace repeats amidst his no excuse culture. Fact of the matter is we have not won a game under Eustace with 5 points from 7 games, none against a side in the top 6. Apparently Tomasson's passing style was absolutely correct right until he left and now Eustace's negative football is bang on because its back to basics, although weve only kept one clean sheet in that time and its removed any attacking threat. Playing 5 defenders in every game with one being painfully slow, Gallagher back on the wing, Szmodics as a false 9, its not working out and the jury is very much out on Eustace. Talk of comparisons to Kean and Coyle is obviously provocative and premature nonsense at this stage. He will need 2 wins from 3 to better the amount of games won in Henning Berg's first 10 games though.
  8. He left to join a big Premier League club who are in Europe, on I am assuming a much bigger contract. Most sane people would take a similar jump if offered. He is also now getting more football than he was here, albeit on loan.
  9. No issue with booing at full time. Another poor performance and 2 wins in 18 or 19 games, people are pissed off and understandably so. Booing Phillips, maybe a bit petty. He moved to a big club, he wasnt playing here and he is now playing regularly out on loan on a considerably bigger salary. The reaction that was difficult to comprehend was the applause to McFadzean after he just cost us so badly.
  10. Gallagher and Dolan have year options in their deals. Obviously add all the loans to your list. Wahlstedt, Sigurdsson, Markanday, Telalovic, Garrett amongst the players contracted into next season... Woulsnt surprise me to see McFadzean getting a new deal as Eustace seems to think repeatedly having him amongst the back 3 is a great idea and will no doubt continue with it after his suspension.
  11. Hes scored 49 goals for us so he clearly isnt one of the worst to have e ever played for us. Poor again today but being played out wide again.
  12. 4 of the 9 are against the top 4 who are far superior compared to every other team in the league. Every game is tough though with these players and with a manager who is happy to draw every game.
  13. Another really poor day at the office. Eustace still to win a game and his counterproductive defensive tactics have played a major part today. McFadzean's influence has been overstated, hes far too slow to be playing at this level and having him in a back 3 didnt help in Plymouth repeatedly getting in behind and luckily for us in the first half they kept missing their chances. He cost us the game in the second half and yet weirdly got a standing ovation for doing so. Dont want to see him playing for us again, hes past it. Both him and Wharton in particular are dreadful on the ball too and coupled with the inept Wahlstedt, the ball was just brainlessly and repeatedly sliced out of play or straight back to Plymouth. There is just generally clearly a lack of plan in terms of attacking, Buckley had a shocker and just kept kicking the ball over his shoulder and back to Plymouth. Gallagher is having to play wide which we know is not effective, Sigurdsson is crap on the other side and our sole threat is Szmodics who has us still with a chance of staying up. Our only hope is the quantity of teams at the bottom as we need 2 from around 8 teams to accumulate less points.
  14. Eustace has been the manager for 4 points from 6 games, and no wins. They are the facts. Comparisons to Mark Hughes are off the mark as he was up against teams like Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League. Weve had a fairly favourable run of fixtures under Eustace with no opposition in the top 6 and have still not won. Style is means to an end, it isnt a black and white yardstick and ultimately I think people just want what leads to good results. I very much doubt that people would rather us play more direct aesthetically, but Tomassons gung ho approach with the current squad wasnt getting results and most (one notable exception) probably recognised that. Equally, Eustace has nullified us going forward and we still arent keeping clean sheets. He doesnt seem to see any value in trying to win a game even in the last 2 home games late on when drawing. Talk of him being like Kean or Coyle is obviously totally unfair and is clearly an emotional reaction as we continue to struggle.
  15. Im sick of reading the manager and players repeatedly say how we need the fans. The players need to give the fans something to cheer about for once, the fans have been doing their bit.
  16. Pears out with concussion, Tronstad until after the international break, Hedges and Brittain massively doubtful and JRC still 3 or 4 weeks away. Hard to see us winning even against opposition who themselves are really struggling at the moment. No doubt a back 5 with Pickering on the wrong side where he is clearly not able to play.
  17. That tean would struggle even with 12. Gallagher looks absolutely shattered and Dolan has been crap bar the Stoke game since returning from injury. That being said, its hard to drop either when the alternatives are someone from the German 4th division and players like Sigurdsson who not only lacks the quality but is also as soft and uncommitted a player as I can remember.
  18. Kipre has just tipped a header from a certain goal over the bar for West Brom away at QPR with his hand. Does us a massive favour but the sort of decision that perhaps brings VAR closer.
  19. The difference is that Harris has got 7 points from 3 games and Eustace has 4 from 6.
  20. I have used the wrong word, my mistake. I meant that he is dull!
  21. If ever you wanted to sum up our recruitment under these horrendous owners and their cuts (spearheaded by Broughton) then only 2 players signed within the last 3 windows started last night. One was the incompetent Wahlstedt and the other a 37 year old CB.
