  1. Losing to a sh1te team. Mowbray needs to get his act together. Get BB and Khadra on now. Don't see how we don't win this game. Stuck £5 on 3-1 to Rovers at 74/1.
  2. Tony lived in the Wilpshire area in a lovely bungalow. Think it was about 12 years ago, either just before or following the death of Tony's wife, Eileen, that Tony's daughter and son in law moved into the house with Tony. Obviously, much will depend upon what legal action, if any, was taken over ownership etc. A great idea. Simple and effective. Tony joined Rovers initially as a striker from Buxton over 50 years ago. I might be wrong here but I seem to recall Tony making his Rovers' debut at Bolton in a League Cup tie - it was a miserable night as we lost and Tony also looked lost! However, he was converted to a highly effective midfield player. Not an eye catcher but boy, when he missed games through either injury or suspension you didn't half notice! A really nice bloke who always had a word for you.
  3. Win some, lose some! As long as the former is bigger than the latter! Rovers have done me proud on this super run and long may it continue!
  4. Hey, now come on be fair - there have been 2 or 3 racing tips that have romped home and made money for some on here who made a flutter! Others have also made money on managerial appointments I flagged!
  5. Might be bookies' favourite at the moment but generally, WBA fans seem to hate him (anyone but Bruce). Don't give up yet lad!
  6. Would think Alex Neill is sat in his Longridge home rubbing his hands!
  7. Nothing certain as we know from Rothwell! Given where this has come from, stuck £50 on. TBH, tempted to go bigger.
  8. Understand Mowbray's departure to WBA is 90% certain. Stuck £50 on at 10/1.
  9. Swansea have 5 points from their last 5 games and have lost the last 2. Absolutely nothing to fear and a nailed on Rovers' win for me Unbelievably, you can get 2/1 for a Rovers' win. This is superb value all things considered. Just fill your boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Can someone please post the link to tonight's 8.30 session with Sharpe, Crook and co.
  11. IMO, he's not a PL player. Think he has poor technique and lacks football intelligence. We did well to get what we did for him.
  12. Bean counting is important when you have a situation where it leads to your better players thinking they are having the p1ss taken out of them. If a talented and established Championship player can get a six fold increase in his wage merely by moving to another club in the same league then that would suggest to me that his existing club has taken him for granted and taken the p1ss.
  13. You personally pay employEES' NI as do footballers - this is deducted from your gross wage / salary. What employing organisations pay (including football clubs) is employERS' NI.
  14. I don't know but I was told by someone connected to Rovers what the lad's wage at Leeds was and I'm pretty sure he would know. I've worked with a number of organisations on both remuneration scale / structures and pricing structures / strategies and in my professional opinion, if that is a 'structured' approach to wages then it is indefensible and you could drive a horse and cart through it.
  15. Don't think they are! Those stats show about 65 players (less than 30% of those employed by Rovers) and excluded Mowbray, coaches, analysts, scouts, medics, directors (directors remuneration £0.5million+ for starters) etc Last filed Rovers' accounts show: 145 players and management employed across football 80 employed across Commercial, Admin and Building / Ground maintenance Also bear in mind, that employers' NI comes in at a whopping 14% with every £100,000 of wages costing an additional £14,000! Indicatively, I would suggest that file is pretty close to the mark.
  16. A matter of opinion! You want your local journalist to be knowledgeable, decisive, inquisitive, brave and honest. If he is, will command the respect of both club and fans. IMO, Sharpe has no real sources, is nearly always behind the curve, sits on the fence and in the main gives Mowbray an easy ride.
  17. If this is even remotely indicative then Rovers have big, big problems to come. Little wonder Rothwell seems to be offski. How the feck can you have Davenport earning twice as much as Rothwell, Travis and Buckley and more than Nyambe - relatively, for established Championship players, IMO, the wages of these four with so much potential are ridiculously low. The Poveda wage doesn't surprise me - the only surprise is Rovers aren't paying more (as I was given to understand) of what I understand to be a £35k+ weekly wage with Leeds. I posted about Poveda's wages when Rovers signed him and many on here couldn't believe it, now you know! That wage 'structure' if anywhere near correct, and I use the word 'structure' loosely, is, IMO, indefensible and the height of incompetence and an indictment of the abilities of Waggott, Mowbray and Venus.
  18. I don't think Sharpe know his arse from his elbow - IMO, a hopeless journalist.
  19. Fortunate enough to see 'Pick' when we were leading Div 1 - didn't understand the 'politics' as only a young lad. However, do remember my dad discussing with friends and fans were in uproar. This followed on some 2/3 years after the abolition of football's maximum wage and the gripe was Rovers said they needed to average 20,000 to make a go of it and I think we were averaging circa 22,000 at the time. Seemed like lunacy of the highest order and many fans never forgave Rovers.
  20. and if we don't sign replacements? Presumably, egg on face for Mowbray and co!
  21. Understand Luke Freeman on Rovers' radar with offer tabled around the £0.5million mark. Not worked for the lad at SU, contract up in summer and Mowbray a previous admirer.
  22. It never rains but it pours................. Rich Sharpe @richsharpe89 1h Sam Gallagher was coughing up blood and will go for a scan, while Tayo Edun is in a protective boot after an injury to his ankle. Reda Khadra picked up a minor hamstring injury in training on Friday.
  23. Disagree - his stock is now too high and clubs will realise what's gone on. IMO, there's no way back for Rothwell now. Never one of Mowbray's favourite sons and the tenuous umbilical cord will be well and truly severed, IMO.
  24. and you get consistency with a good run of games and you aint worried that if you miss a track back the manager will haul you off and consign you to the bench for the next six games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll say again, IMO, Rothwell has been grossly mismanaged by Mowbray since the day he arrived from Oxford.
