Fans Friendly Squad

  1. Boxing Day…a sell out away crowd…can Rovers turn around the current form ? Add your thoughts and opinions here…⚪️🔵
  2. With the squad paper thin and Southampton winning again, my head says we will lose but after another home win following a raft of away wins my heart says we will continue with our incredible away form.. 2-3 rovers. Come on you blues!
  3. Hello from a Bristol City fan in peace. Ahead of our forthcoming game I’m putting together the opening post for our forum’s (One Team in Bristol, https://www.otib.co.uk/?_fromLogin=1) match thread, which will be posted the day before the match. I would like to include some perspectives from your fans so if anybody would like to share info please do, anything would be appreciated, fans thoughts about the game, players who have represented both clubs, tales from when we’ve met previously, a fans view on your season, pubs for away fans, etc. Look forward to receiving info and to a great game.
  4. I've just been told it was Lancashire Police who said if Rovers are giving Leeds 7,400 tickets then it's 12.30 kick off. If it's 3pm then you can only let them have 4,000 tickets.I Please tell me this is a wind up ? Preston came on a Friday night the other week without restrictions.
  5. Having enjoyed a number of wins at Hillsborough including two 3-0s, here is looking forward to Rovers returning with all 3 points on Saturday afternoon. For all the Wednesday corpse' Lazarus qualities against Leicester and Rotherham recently I think deep down we know three things all have to happen for Rovers not to record a 5th consecutive win on the road. - Wednesday have to play the best they are capable of - Rovers have to be sloppy - Rovers have to miss chances, probably a lot of missed chances Ok, so now I am worried... The probability is the Wednesday defense will offer more early Christmas presents than Rovers will. We have to make sure we are duly appreciative and thoroughly unwrap them. With 10 senior players unavailable I will still be more than happy with the eleven who finished against Birmingham and Garrett and Markanday are very decent options off the bench. Fingers crossed for Scott Wharton to be available and even more so for Dolan's scan. It looked a nasty one last night. Here is hoping Leonard, Szmodics and company score enough to give JDT the option to blood a youngster or two off the bench. Sooner or later, Adam Wharton and Tronstad will score, even a Pickering goal? And Sigurddson is over due adding to his 4 to date.
  6. Brum up next at Ewood. I really hope we can push on from our excellent win at Stoke City and get three points against Rooney's Birmingham. Let's hope no more bodies end up on the treatment table before K.Off and we get back to giving our home support something to cheer about. COYB.
  7. preston fans eagerly awaiting their cup final they`ve spotted how bad wahlstadt is and are planning to inform lowe (like he won`t already know!) generally apprehensive about teams like preston, extremely basic, thuggish but massively determined, they are usually our achilles heel,,you only have to look at some of their players to know their approach, hoping for a strong ref and a win for football over ale house tactics before the break
  8. So after an international break and a couple of tough fixtures for England against Treasure Island and The Lost City Of Atlantis, it's back to business and some real football. A weakened Rovers side had their pants pulled down prior to the break. Hopefully some key players can return from injury and lead us to glory. Stoke 0-3 Rovers
  9. A football supporters’ perspective of Blackburns victory over Stoke City https://gloucestergroundho.wixsite.com/gloucester-groundhop/post/bet-365-stadium-stoke-city
  10. Got a lovely 12pm kick off on Sunday... Norwich are a side that confuses me. Lots of resources, good players, recent prem experience but really struggled to make that much of an impression this season or last. Seems a good time to play them with the fans frustrated and them struggling to find the right setup. In terms of Rovers... classic three game winning run, thinking we have come up with a winning setup. Followed by injury to Hyam and Sigurdsson and Brittain having really bad game so suddenly back to the drawing board... Very frustrating. Players who have to play imo - Carter, Hill, Pickering, Szmodics, JRC, Tronstad, Adam Wharton. So seven out of the XI. Of the remaining four spots Leo gets a crack by default as Pears injured, then think Leonard has shown enough to keep his spot. Does feel when he gets a goal he could start scoring a few. To round it off while Scott Wharton has looked shaky I think we have to give him a go. If we can't trust him now when can we? And it means we can keep Hill at right back which is key for defensive cover. Last spot is what to do right wing... again I think persevering with Brittain there is the best option (others being Markanday or Dolan). While it didn't work against Swansea previous games the combination of Hill, JRC and Brittain down the right worked very well, so want us to try that again. Other options can come off the bench. Leo Hill Carter S Wharton Pickering JRC Tronstad A Wharton Brittain Leonard Szmodics
  11. I’m going to say it, I fancy an upset here. Westham last year were better than this current Chelsea side
  12. We have already given them a tonking this year and that was the reserves. I'm going to be optimistic and say we'll score another 5.
  13. Big win last night. Can we retain the momentum? Predictive line up? I sense the same 11 as last night
  14. They've no manager. Come on Rovers, kick em while they're down. I'll be more than happy grinding out another 1-0 victory here. I have corrected the date.
  15. Anyone going to this game? I think we will win 3-1 My team Wahlstedt Hill Carter Hyam Brittain JRC Tronstad Moran Dolan Szmodics Sigurdsson Subs:- Hilton, Pickering, Wharton, Garrett, Travis, Edmondson, Markanday Telalovic, Ennis
  16. A noon kickoff on Sunday against 2nd placed Leicester City is next up for JDT's free scoring (in the Carabao Cup anyway) team. I haven't seen a game for a few weeks but this one is on US TV so I'll be up early to watch. 2 disappointing league results mean that Rovers are coming into this one facing the prospect of a 3rd defeat on the trot. Leicester came down from the Prem and lost their best player to Spurs, but still have a lot of their squad left over and have started the season well. I watched a bit of their game with Liverpool last night. I think that Rovers will struggle. Their back 4 of Pereira-Coady-Suttar-Justin are Premier League calibre. I can't see Rovers breaking through against them, but will hope nonetheless. 0-0 draw.
  17. I appreciate you are going to have to watch from the grassy bank behind the Riverside but those of us with a Rovers TV subscription will be using telekinesis in the absence of TV and Radio.. Gee thanks Swag. This is a different proposition from what it appeared when drawn just after we had scored 8 with one shot against. Remember those days? Cardiff late late show at Sunderland means they travel to Ewood with 3 wins on the run. I expect we will see Wahlstedt JRC Hall S Wharton Batty Tronstad Garrett Markanday Gilsenan Dolan Lucky dip consolation prize winner Most important for me- apart from penalties preparation- is that Wahlstedt unambiguously states his claim for a start against Leicester. COYB.
  18. Watching Southampton v Ipswich. Ipswich should be at least 3 ahead on Southampton gifts (Hirst badly missed one). My worry about this one is it has less venom that a walking football pre-season friendly. I fancy our Sunderland game will be a full bloodied affair yet Ipswich not only have an extra day's recovery, I doubt there is so much as a bruise or a graze on their players at half time and nobody will be anywhere near being out of breath. For a so-called passing team, Southampton are statues making it easy for Ipswich to pick up the mistakes off the player on the ball. Southampton being so woeful makes it difficult to assess Ipswich but I have seen nothing to worry or scare us.
  19. The return of the Dack and Mr. Tony Mowbray. Sunderland have virtually sold out their allocation of 3800. Should be a cracking game if today was anything to go on. COYB.
  20. Boro in bad form at the moment so they're either going to turn it around or will further in a slump. Hopefully the best manager we've had in the venkys era can get a tune out of his dirty dozen (minus one) and send them smoggy bastards back home with a slapped arse. 3-0 The new striker with two and a Lewis Travis 30 yarder.
  21. Anybody see the 9-2 win over Rochdale and got any info? Sounds promising. 3 goals for the new lad.
  22. Greetings from the green army. I wanted to write earlier but my registration has only just come through! It was a baffling game at HP last week. You were the best between the 2 boxes that I have seen in a long time….but really poor in both boxes. Your keeper in particular looked way out of his depth. Is he your first choice? We have won every league game bar 1 at HP this calendar year so there is a believe in the crowd at the moment We don’t really believe we will stay in the Championship too long. We don’t lose money and have probably reached a peak with this strategy. We have one player over the age of 28 and had the 14th best budget in league 1 last year and the worst in the Championship this year. We aim to be athletic and buy players we can improve and sell on. We have phenomenal recruitment but it gets harder each season….eventually someone will steal our manager and best players. I know Preston are losing over a million pounds a month and it’s mind boggling. Even if they go up….they’re likely to come straight back down….. Best of luck this year and if you find a half decent striker and keeper you’re bound to be in the top 6.
  23. It is a seriously long journey so perhaps appropriate for a distant fan to start the thread. Argyle won the craziest of promotion races becoming Champions with 101 points winning 31 out of 46 games. Sheffield Wednesday missed out on automatic promotion in 3rd with 96 points- Ipswich squeezed in with 98. Watched most of two of their games- the Southampton 2-1 home defeat and their 3-1 home win over Huddersfield first game back. They are effectively direct going forward in an agricultural way, combative in midfield and a mistake waiting to happen at the back- Huddersfield missed three absolute sitters against them. Southampton pretty stuff created many fewer chances than they should have done (hint to Rovers- cut out that pass too many on the edge of the area and shoot once in a while). So a return to high press possession football for Rovers after the Hornets smash and grab. We ought to have too much (and an unavailable Ennis) for Plymouth to cope with but oughta never won a football game..
  24. Expecting 11 changes to the starting XI. Will be good to see Wahlstadt. Will we see Buckley? Will we see anything? Relatively few games on Wednesday but think we are in the only tie without a PL club that night. So any chance of TV coverage?
