Fans Friendly Squad

  1. Obviously it is difficult to comment on the training that goes on behind closed doors but I think it is abundantly clear from the lack of progress and failure to learn from our mistakes that the coaching at Ewood Park is not up to scratch. I do believe Mowbray is a good man manager but really worry that we aren't going to progress with the current coaching setup. From my understanding Ben Benson is the GK coach and he was promoted from the u18s along with David Lowe who became first team coach? Last year it seemed to be our quality of players at that level that pushed us over the line and never did we have a particular style of play. This year whereby we don't have the best squad in the division and need the coaching and development of a style of play it appears our coaching isn't up to scratch. Just wondering if I am talking rubbish or if people agree that our current backroom staff department is severely under par?
  2. Steve Waggot mention a few weeks back that the Riverside Stand is to be modernised! Any one got any updates regards this?
  3. I am delighted by Jon Dahl Tomasson to appointed Lewis Travis has our new Captain for the season. Excellent choice
  4. Great to see Rovers trying new food and finally different type food from just Chips, Burgers and hot dog.
  5. At this point in the transfer window, the main thread (https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/35339-transfer-window-man-the-lifeboats/) becomes very busy and often posters struggle to keep up with the latest news. Please help others and use this thread to post and consolidate the latest links (Twitter, Articles, Official Posts) so everyone can keep up to date easily. Please, no discussion in here, use the main thread. I'll start...
  6. Just heard that Lenny as passed away, met him loads of times such a lovely man... Sad day ....
  7. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/august/welkom-thomas/ Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of KAA Gent goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old, who becomes the first Belgian footballer in the club’s history, has signed a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months. Kaminski, who has almost 300 career appearances and Champions League experience under his belt, started out at Beerschot AC in his homeland, making his professional debut in the Belgian top flight at the age of just 16. out.stream powered by ADITION Signed by Anderlecht in 2012, he won two Belgian league titles and three Belgian Super Cups, before having loan spells with Αnorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus and FC Copenhagen in Denmark, where he won both the Danish Superliga and Danish Cup in 2015-16. After a successful spell back in Belgium with KV Kortrijk, the talented shot-stopper joined Gent in January 2019 and started all 29 of their top-flight fixtures last season, keeping 10 clean sheets, before the campaign was cut short due to COVID-19. The Belgian Under-21 international also played all 14 Europa League games for Gent last term, helping them reach the knockout stage. Kaminski, who will wear the number one shirt at Ewood Park, must now undergo a period of quarantine, before joining up with his new Rovers team-mates for training early next month. Welkom Thomas! Oh, and he kicked his teammate in the groin so hard just a few weeks ago, that stitches were required at pitch side... https://sportlife.news/2020/soccer/gent-star-igor-plastun-left-needing-stitches-in-his-penis-after-horror-injury-as-his-own-team-mate-knees-him-in-groin/

  9. I see the club have announced that the Blues Bar will cease to open each day and instead will be just matchday and functions. Anyone heard any more about this? I assume just another Waggott cut and downsizing job. Surely in an era of Ffp and non matchday income this sort of thing is important? I was told previously that the Blues Bar was run separately to the club e.g. wasnt covered by Northcote and that was why they could charge sensible(ish) prices for food and drink.
  10. A couple of interesting articles on the site here looking back to previous first matches of the season: Top 10 Opening Day Matches. Do you have any other favourites from history? https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/top-10-opening-day-matches/262 Flowers Uprooted. The curious case of an erratic Tim Flowers in 1995. Were there any big doubts raised about his ability at that time? https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/flowers-uprooted/261

  13. It seems we have a new head of player recruitment. Gus Williams from the Wales set up . Been a few hours and not seen it mentioned yet ,so here we are . https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/july/22/welcome--gus-williams/
  14. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/september/a-to-z-ryan-nyambe/ A Q&A with the delightful young man, and world-class full back, who goes by the name of Ryan Nyambe (or RyNy to his friends). My only gripe (apart from him being a Manure fan) is the following answer to the question 'what is the strangest thing you've seen': "There’s quite a few strange things. I remember driving in Wythenshawe one night and just saw a guy laying with his bike. It was late at night and I remember thinking it was a bit odd!" I think he'd fallen off Ryan and you were meant to ring for an ambulance. Apart from that a top man and a full back who is getting better with every season. Hoorah for Ryan!!
  15. Thought we would have a proper thread for the fixtures, don't think it belongs in the Pre-Season thread. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/june/23/rovers-to-kick-off-with-qpr-/ QPR at Ewood opening game.
  16. There's a comprehensive look back to when Rovers played at Celtic in the UEFA Cup 20 years ago in this article on the site here: https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/celtic-v-rovers-2002:-revisited/254 What are your memories of the tie?
  17. Worthy of its own thread. New site and streaming service replacing iFollow launching on June 1st 2021. Rovers will come away from the iFollow/EFL template website and adopt it's own new site & streaming production service. Following in Derby & Leeds United's footsteps, Rovers will make significantly more money from digital viewership. Control over content, advertising, quality of service & of course pricing is an all round bonus for me. Would have to assume the Under 23's games will be likely be moved here too which would be good, linking everything together.
  18. Has there been any changes with Cheston and Babu? Cheston has been absent a long time from public view or is Waggott just taking the lead publicly? (I known from previous postings that Babu just visits twice a year or so for AGM's and such). Has Cheston left cos of Gregg coming in?
  19. https://www.stockportcounty.com/club-statement-karl-newton/?utm_content=buffer4752b&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Such sad news,
  20. First start for Ireland tonight. I can see him making the place his own. Let's see how his partnership with Rovers favourite Duffy goes. It's actually 3 at the back with Egan from Sheffield United.
  21. Not sure whether this should be on here or ICBINF but nevertheless an interesting story https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-61300097 The question is, how will those who defected to the dark side cope with it?
