  1. I'll be watching this later on this afternoon ... My Dad, now 87 is in a Clitheroe residential home and lives with that b****rd of a condition that is Vascular Dementia. He grew up in Nottingham, lost his Dad during the war, and his Uncles would take him to Meadow Lane just after the war to watch County. I remember him telling me of the crowds going from 6,000 to 35,000 when they signed Tommy Lawton, when Notts were in the old 3rd Division North. When he was a bit older, he'd get the admission to both Meadow Lane & Trent Bridge, by collecting discarded beer bottles at the ground and getting the deposits back on them. By doing that, he saw the 1948 Australian " Invincibles ", led by Don Bradman on his last tour ... I've nothing against Chesterfield, but I'm visiting him with Mrs " Sympathetic Claret " tomorrow with his 2 year old Great-Granddaughter, and I'd love to be able to tell him " Notts " have been promoted ... 😎
  2. will the newly crowned w****r mowbray triumph in the play offs
  3. Looking forward. Anyone positive about next season? For me -and it’s obvious to everyone I’m sure - number one priority is we need to splash money on two proven goal scorers. One isn’t enough. Now Brereton has gone we don’t have one goal scorer at the club. That’s amazing really. Loaning strikers isn’t enough. Quality strikers cost money and it’s simply a must for me. There will be gaps to fill in every other department as well, so 1) two quality front men 2) general strengthening elsewhere 3) sort out the manager position immediately Every summer is a big summer. This summer is the biggest for a while. Get the incoming transfers right and we could do as well as this season or better. Get it wrong and we could really struggle to even stay in this league.
  4. "I don’t think we got passive against Preston, not at all, we actually got our biggest chance in the end of the game but weren’t clinical in that situation." "Players don’t make mistakes on purpose, but when you are not scoring many goals you need to be even more focused and take care of those situations." “It hurts everyone the goal we conceded, normally you win the game, you have the biggest chance of the game and then 30 seconds afterwards a player is unlucky to slip, another gets hit by the ball and it’s an own goal." Hedges. That miss. He isn't a striker but my god he could have scored a great goal to make us 2-0 up. Reading JDTs comments are always interesting. He's telling him he should have scored.. what's his best position? More importantly what's his future at rovers? We seemed to sign Thomas to play on the right in Jan.. hedges was a TM signing.. he was effective when he came on at half time but I fear all his hard work was undone with that final touch passing it to their keeper..
  5. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23460385.dilan-markanday-returned-blackburn-rovers-amid-disappointing-loan/ Hi all Considering our lack in goal threat over the past few weeks (months) seeing this article makes me sad! This kid was brought in, got injured and we've never seen his potential. He's now out on loan and not getting game time. Has he got the potential for our club? Will jdt and the staff bring him back and consider him a new signing in the summer ready for a new season or ? Will he live up to the potential that he showed at spurs or will he live up to the reason why they let him go?
  6. https://youtu.be/jnf7fCZ3rDk Just watching the highlights, he got in to a great position to have scored and most attacking players would have put that away especially considering how desperate we are to a) score a goal b) make the play offs. Watching his performance recently particularly live and as he has had more starts I have been wondering what is his best position? He isn't an out and out striker. He isn't a traditional winger like Thomas who crosses in to the box.. Is he an attacking mf? Is he a no.10? Would he be better with an out and out striker to pass to? Does he keep the ball too much because no one else is making the runs he requires so he ends up in a dead end?
  7. I might be jumping the gun, creating a thread for him after a single 30 minute appearance, but I was impressed. Playing as a striker is the hardest position on the pitch. I thought he put himself around, held it up well, showed some good close control and was unlucky not to score with his snapshot. The biggest thing he showed though was confidence and bravery, looking like he belonged. Given our only other options are Gally or Dolan as a false 9, I'd be very happy to see him given a start in the next game. He was very promising.
  8. Listening to the "what now" 4000 Holes Podcast today got me thinking.... Pears and Kaminski... What should we do this summer? Keep both? Sell one? If so who? Who will be no.1 next season and going forward?
  9. So much noise on the forums around him I thought I'd start a thread! Haha! We've seen the quotes from JDT but something is going on. Lack of update despite talking about the others selection calls https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23429325.up-speed---tomasson-explains-blackburn-rovers-selection-calls/
  10. Starting this thread because there is A LOT of chat about him in the forum's before during and after every game. Can we post some strengths? He gets to play a lot of games so JDT sees something in him ?
  11. 1. are you most pleased to be have been there for? 2. most wish you could have been there for? For me it’s: 1. the celebrations following the winning of the premier league (although the memories are slightly blurred by the alcohol consumed!). 2. Seeing Ronnie Clayton and Bryan Douglas play in person.
  12. The semi finals have been drawn and its no surprise to me that the Mancs have been kept apart in the semis. Also, if Irc, Man Utd have had home ties 10 times on the trot. What are the odds on that? Should the draw be done differently and how? It stinks to high heaven for me and there must be a more transparent way of doing it.
  13. Hi there I'm currently working on an article about Rovers fans who started supporting the team in the early 90s, despite having no prior connection with the team or Blackburn itself. If this sounds like you I'd love to have a quick chat over Zoom / whatsapp to hear about your experiences as a Rovers fan since. Particularly interested in speaking with fans oversees but elsewhere in the UK is also fine. Ryan
  14. A fascinating read https://link.thetimes.co.uk/view/6331f13ddfbdb42d2a08b425ickkw.bmb/3cd07e2d
  15. Have any comments on the Gary Lineker or the Match of the Day presenters, pundits or commentators been banned on here for some reason?
  16. Could be wrong but isn't JRC's contract running down? ..
  17. Hi all, I attended my first game yesterday and thought the match was great. I was a Bury season ticket holder for 27 years and it has taken me a while to get into football again, but I think after yesterday I may have found somewhere new to watch my football. I just have a couple of questions: 1. Was the football played yesterday always like that? I thought Blackburn played well and the match was pretty exciting to watch. 2. I was sat in the Jack Walker Upper - I thought the view was brilliant - is this the best view in the ground or the older stand facing? Thanks
  18. How many points do we need to get in the Play-Offs? 74 How many points do we need to get in the Automatics? 86 How many points will we get? 78 Stoke (A) = D Reading (H) = W B'ham (A) = W Norwich (H) = D H'field (A) = W Hull (H) = W Coventry (H) = D Nobbers (A) = W Dingles (H) = D Luton (H) = D Millwall (A) = L
  19. Both " Longsiders " and I have had some criticism for downplaying our success this season, indeed it has been referred to as a " little owd Burnley " schtick by one poster ... so I'm donning my hard hart after posting this !! I've just realised you have a " Ticker " Clock at the foot of the home page detailing the number of years, months, days etc since " Burnley won anything ". This is factually incorrect, as since our 1959-60 Football League Championship, we've won the following ... Championship/2nd Division (Tier 2) Winners: 1972-73, 2015-16, 2022-23 ( pending ! ) Play-off winners: 2008-09 Second Division/Third Division (Tier 3) Winners: 1981-82 Play-off winners: 1993-94 Fourth Division (Tier 4) Winners: 1991-92 Cup FA Charity Shield Winners: 1960 (shared), 1973 Anglo Scottish Cup Winners: 1978-1979 I would also point out that Burnley currently lead on the " Head to Head " in League & Cup, 43 to 41, with 19 draws. On a more serious note, I attended the wake of David Hopkinson, the QEGS Master who passed away recently at Ewood Park. Not only was I there for myself, but also to represent a number of former pupils who asked me to pass on condolences, including Mike E, Revidge Blue and Herbie6590 of this Parish !! Rather bizarrely, I had to walk through the Main Stand marked " Players Entrance ". Given the fact that a combination of genes & the Good Lord gave me a frame far more suited to being a Rugby 2nd Row Forward, I chuckled to myself walking up the stairs, " Too old, too fat, too slow, wrong game and what's more, wrong bl***y Club ! ". Hoppy would have seen the irony, I'm sure !! 😎
  20. If we don’t go up, which positions do you think we most need to strengthen for next season’s starting eleven? I’d go with left back, centre midfield (to pair with A. Wharton) and centre forward After that, i think I’d be looking at bringing in a couple of ‘proper wingers’
  21. After all the disgruntled fans complaining about the high prices and that of neighbours being substantially lower, I'd be interested to hear what fans think we'll be seeing next season.
  22. Hi, hoping to take advantage of the collective knowledge in this room to understand what I have on my hands. My first foray into the EBay market has yielded me a 94/95 Home Jersey to hopefully replace my old one. However upon receiving it I'm a little skeptical of its authenticity. My main concern is the sponsor. My old jersey had a raised white background with indented red lettering, however the new to me jersey has raised red lettering. The other standout difference is the buttons. My old jersey had no markings on the buttons, the new one has "asics" in raised lettering. Anyone know if these are different print runs, if the size difference (S->L) impacts what I've mentioned or if the new to me jersey is just a decent fake? Happy to post other comparisons if they help. Thank you! Also if this is the wrong location to post this happy to move it somewhere more appropriate.
  23. This is my personal opinion BTW (though I’ve no reason to suspect that any of the directors/mods/contributors would necessarily feel any differently) - but a message from my heart to all those Rovers fans going to St Andrews on Tuesday… Please go out of your way to acknowledge Neil Etheridge in a positive light pre-game…the Blues fans and team are going to be right up for this & it is a fabulous opportunity to distance ourselves from the actions of a moronic individual and take some of the heat out of a thoroughly unpleasant situation. The media will undoubtedly be scrutinising the visiting fans and looking for how we react…let’s show our true values. Do the right thing…there is no place for racism in society…full stop.
  24. What's fans opinions on him? Was disappointed when Kenny sold him that time although Gallacher was a great buy. Always thought Wegele had a bit of class and had great feet.
  25. Delicate one this (I have a feeling mods might be busy). Having been along to Ewood with this and seen the faces of kids at their first match, I'm absolutely on board with it. However, the trip to Watford is heavily subsidised (food, excursions) and appears to have been organised without regard for the announced stages of sale. It doesn't quite sit right that 1975/ST holders are again sidelined to an extent. Having said that, 2000 to Watford seems unlikely so that argument isn't the be all and end all. Moreover, the unspoken idea that it was to get more of the Asian community (specifically Muslim) to attend has been totally embraced, but this also means excluding those of a different faith or none. Adults are invited as well as kids but central to the tailored experience are trips to local mosques. Surely all those disadvantaged or who feel unable to go to the games in BwD should be enticed onto such an excursion? Having said that, the aim is clearly to boost our fanbase and that is obviously going to heavily focus on certain communities. Are people reading too much into it or is it a little too exclusive? Mods: Feel free to shut this down if it all gets a bit political/dodgy.
