  1. Which ticket are you going to get ? For me it's got to be the play-offs
  2. Alan Nixon has today been spouting more bollocks in his daily rag regarding Ash Phillips, our 16 year old defensive superstar in the making. I would like to let everyone be aware that he has been part of 'the poison' that has affixed itself to Blackburn Rovers during the past 11 years. Take bugger all notice of anything that he spouts, he's nothing but an unsettling influence on BRFC as a club and its' supporters! As Scousers ostracised The Sun, Blackburn Rovers should ostracise Alan Nixon.
  3. Hi, New to the forum. Bit of a blow in I so expect some flak and maybe deservedly so!😃 I was an Irish child supporter of Rovers from the early 90s. Went to a game in 1993 before the new stadium was built and was at the famous Blackburn v Newcastle game in 1995. Fell out of love with football in the early 2000s. My father passed away recently and have been nostalgic for the old times we shared together. I started supporting Rovers as a 10 year old in 1992 seeing Alan Shearer bang in the goals. The kit was very distinctive as well. The blue and white halves! Upon my request my father wrote to the club in spring of 1993 and said we would be coming over for a game. I am 90% sure it was Julie in the office who wrote back saying call in when we arrive. So months later that's what we did. We got a great tour of the old Nuttall Street Stand and the oak panelled boardroom. Then we were told to come back the next day. We were brought up the stairs to the bar where the players were having their pre match meal! Got to meet all the players including Shearer . Kenny was not there but still! Kevin Moran the captain sat with us and we talked about Ireland. It was brilliant! It was such a homely club and didnt expect to meet any players! I thought they would be totally separate from fans. I was last at a game in 2003 in the league cup. Great to see the Rovers doing well this season. I recently read John Dueren's excellent book called 'Rovers Revolution'. I just wish he had gone and explored in more detail the 1995/1996 season. I still can't get my head around the decline of Blackburn. I simply cannot understand why Dalglish stepped aside weeks after the Title win. Blackburn in the Champions League, lots of money to buy big names, the reputation of the club at an all time high, new stadium etc.. To step aside was bizarre. He could have built on his success and continued to challenge for honours. Then Ray Harford took over and don;t want to speak ill of him but was an utter disaster. I simply am bewildered how he let Slater, Batty and Atkins go and brought in the likes of Matty Holmes! I mean Matty Holmes! Bohinen was acceptable and did well initially but the club had the resources and wasted them. In a way I am more fascinated by the 1995/96 that the previous season as it really was disastrously run and struggle to understand how this was allowed to happen. What are Rovers fans thoughts now looking back? I know the true fans will say this is where he club has always been and the 3 glory seasons were an outlier in their history but I still wonder what might have and should have been. Apologies for the long winded post.
  4. Heard Rovers shirt sponsor from Wednesday is Totally wicked, not sure what the crack is with recoverite?
  5. Me and my lad, being completely objective came up with this 🤣. I think that'll be the top six Rovers probably 3rd or 4th, could live with 100 points though! For a bit of fun lets see what everyone else gets then we can take an average league position. https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator1.php
  6. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19823058.blackburn-rovers-q-contracts-transfers-team-prospects/ Not sure if this has been linked elsewhere, its finished now, but some interesting content on current goings on down at Ewood.
  7. Hi, my name is Dave. I was born & brought up in Blackburn until moving to the south coast in the mid 70's. Try to get to as many games as possible these days (work committments allowing). Have followed the Blues through the dark days of the 70's until the present day. Saw us win the Full Members Cup back in the 80's at Wembley & the League Cup at Cardiff. Lots of ups & downs but must say winning the Premier League was one the best ups. Looking good so far this season.
  8. Time will tell if this thead continues, but on Sunday there could be just 3 teams separating us in the league. In 2017-18 we finished 2nd league 1 , while they were 7th in Premier league ( 38 teams separating) I honestly couldn't see us getting back and we were in a right state, but just maybe the rightful order will be restored with a promotion and there relegation. That's my new year wish anyway , together with covid doing one .
  9. https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/happy-new-year-everyone.../145 Thanks again to everyone who contributes to the site in whatever way behind the scenes to keep this ship afloat; to the content contributors and to the readers. Let's hope 2022 proves to be a catalyst for greater things to come... COYB
  10. England to win the world cup or rovers promoted? I will go with England myself
  11. Tomorrow night. One of my favourite football events of the year. What are people hoping for? Glamour tie at Ewood and see Waggott in a tailspin trying to accommodate 30,000? Home draw against lower league opposition? I fancy going to a new ground so would love an away tie at any of: Wimbledon, Orient, Swindon, St Albans I've been before but would be great if we could get Kidderminster, Boreham Wood, Salford or Halifax I wouldn't complain with West Ham, Spurs or Brentford away (new grounds) Hope we avoid the monotony of a Derby, Bournemouth, Reading, Stoke, Birmingham. Really anyone but Championship would be a nice change.
  12. ''Who gives a toss what these polymer bastards think! They have always historically had much smaller crowds than us, and if it wasn't for Jack Walkers' millions they would still be hovering between leagues one and two. Their deluded fans are still dining out on their Premiership win, and there recent run has just delayed the anti-Mowbray protests. These lot are more fickle than the lashers and dingles combined''. 🤣Yes Rovers fans the hype and bull is well and truly in full flow on PNE online.....What goes on in the Head of a fookin Preston fan?🤪
  13. Messi winning it again is a disgrace. Yes he won the copa America but surely lewondovski deserves it more
  14. Alright Rovers, thought I might as well start a quick thread as the board's semi-resident Stoke fan. I live in Chile but come from Stoke, so finding myself in the unlikely position of being the world's leading expert in the Potteries-Chilean football crossover, I signed up when Brereton (Diaz) got his sensational call-up to La Roja. Crazy crazy story, especially living through it here and him coming from a couple of miles down the road from me on the other side of the world. Looking forward to seeing him on Saturday, and how we deal with him... Anyway just thought I'd give a bit of Stoke perspective on Saturday's game.. Since O'Neill took over he's been ever-so-gradually turning things round after the disastrous Rowett and Nathan Jones experiments. We were rock bottom and eight points from safety when he took over at about this time two years ago and saved us from potential oblivion, so has an awful lot of credit in the bank. The way he's brought young players like Tymon, Souttar and Ty Campbell through to be key first-teamers is a particular highlight, although the jury's still out on his signings record. We were in desperate need of a defensive mid in the last window and he decided it was unnecessary, which means we have a slightly ragged band of talented but flaky bodies in the middle. Expectations flourish quickly in football and last season, while offering solidity and tantalising glimpses of the team we could be, ended up being underwhelming overall, never really looking like worrying the playoffs and finishing one spot ahead of you in 14th. This season feels like another step up and we find ourselves in a good position to secure a spot in the top six - I think most of us would be very disappointed if we didn't. As well as our similar league position we've also had very similar recent form, so it should be a close game. In fact our last two fixtures are exactly the same - Posh at home and Bristol C away - from which you've come away with a slightly better record, getting four points to our three. Last night's defeat to Brizzle was one of those games for us, we played pretty well, dominated possession and had about five or six excellent chances but just couldn't put it away. Conversely at home against Peterborough we were bloody awful but came away with a 2-0 win. The main issue for us is injuries and suspensions.. we've had two late red cards in the last two games so Joe Allen will miss Saturday's game (ordinarily this would be a good thing for us but we're so thin on the ground we need bodies in there), meanwhile our best goalie is injured along with Powell and Souttar, probably our two best players, while Campbell is still on the comeback trail. Might start, might not. Bit hard to pick a lineup before press conference news but it will probably be something like Davies Ostigard Batth Chester Smith Sawyers Vrancic Tymon (or Thompson or Clucas depending on who's fit) Doughty Brown Fletcher I'd rather see Campbell starting up top and Ben Wilmot in place of Chester. Apart from BBD I don't know a great deal about your team other than remembering Dack running the show against us last season (I think? Or the one before). I noticed he wasn't in the squad last night.. How has Pickering been doing? He was always one we kept tabs on at Crewe, seemed a stand-out young player. Anyway I hear you're bringing 2k or so so should be a decent fiery atmosphere. I think it'll be a good battle but I'm not too confident with our frail midfield and the injuries we've got (and your on-fire Chileno.. if he gets at creaky Chester we'll be in trouble). Enjoy the day if you're going, all the best.. see you in the playoffs in May 😉
  15. So we're one of the few clubs out there that have had the same shirt design since the beginning. It has been famously copied many times and is absolutely iconic. Over the years however, there have been different variations, the blue and white have changed sides as well as the sleeves changing slightly. Which is your favourite design then? My choice is - Home: 1996 -1998 Away: 1993 - 1995
  16. After the successful and positivity following the Sheff Utd game and atmosphere, why would Waggot not seize the opportunity to lower ticket prices to £20 for the Preston game. This is/was yet another fantastic opportunity to get more bums on seats and make Ewood a place that retuning fans want to be at. We know the nobbers will shift between 6-7 k and at £30 we'll probably shift around 10k Had he reduced tickets to £20 I reckon we'd have looking at an attendance way over 20k
  17. Pretty Simples Should these two be sacked now yes or no? Just looked at the LT comments and couldnt believe the amount of apparent support there is for Mowbray in particular! I can only imagine many of those comments are from dollopers with their heads buried in the sand, blackburn rovers employees on the rovers gravy train and dingles on the wind up. So just for my own sanity I need to see those comments are not really representative of the true fanbase. (not that i'm bias or anything 😄)
  18. Surely this game represents the best opportunity for our fanbase to state their feelings towards Mowbray. Low tickets cost, a landmark club game, and importantly off the back off a 7nil defeat. If Venkys were going to listen to us at any point it would be now and with an international break the perfect opportunity to bring someone new in they may just bite the bullet. We need to make a stand!!! I am at the point where I no longer possess feelings if we win or lose. There is 0 faith in the hierarchy.
  19. Considering tonight's shocking result how do the management and players pick themselves up for Sheffield United? Goal difference shattered ( OK a small point) but surely a winnable game against a team who can't string 2 wins together. A game Which could decide our season I think.
  20. It’s about time EVERY fan stood back and realised what’s going on here. losing millions every year, owners trying to sell STC off for housing, gates at their lowest for thirty years, unable to offer the better players new contracts etc, etc - and a manager who’s been here 5 years and just seen his team lose 0-7 at home just shrugging it off as a bad night and we have owners who have no idea what to do about it. I don’t think this is too big of a reaction. The club is in a mess from top to bottom. It’s not good enough at any level. If nothing changes, rovers will go to the wall.
  21. Where do people expect us to finish this season for the season to be considered par for the course or even a success? And are people flexible enough in their views to have a target to which Mowbray (who sadly seems to be here for the near future) could even earn a new deal? I think firstly that it is important to acknowledge the lack of backing this summer, there wasn't a competitive budget of even a fraction of the Armstrong money and the considerable wage budget savings to replace not only Armstrong but a multitude of experienced players. We are left with an average first 11 including 4 academy graduates and a player signed last season for the under 23s, and beyond that, pitiful depth padded out by the cheapest of kids on loan deals. Perhaps it could be argued that any improvement on last seasons finish of 15th place is progression but for me, last season was so poor that it should be based upon the previous finish of 11th. If we finish in the top 10, whilst I have always felt that anything slightly under the play offs has to be deemed a disappointment in that the top 6 is so close, I would consider that to be a good season personally. That being said, a top 10 finish would not warrant a contract extension for me. It would be 4 full seasons in which Mowbray would have been somewhat a safe pair of hands, never at threat of serious relegation, but in which time he has never come close to a top 6 finish, and I suspect would be unlikely to any time soon. I am unsure if we have ever truly had a top 6 squad under him, we definitely don't this season and I would potentially suggest that we have the worst squad out of the last 4 years, similar to the first season up. A top 6 season would be an overachievement specific to this season but that is ultimately we will need at some point in order to get into the play offs, and to get some hope back which Venkys have long since extinguished. I expect a similar finish to last season however, quite possibly even slightly lower.
  22. Hi Everyone, in a change to our regular scheduled programming, I’ve decided for one thread and one thread only, politics can be discussed on the football thread! I figured that with the Saudi Arabia takeover, things would be incredibly intertwined, so fill your boots in here!
  23. https://shrinke.me/QPJFqw Check the goals of the decade! Up the rovers
  24. I didn't see a thread on this so I started a new one. Watched the full Brentford vs Liverpool game yesterday after I got home from Ewood Park. Brentford were very impressive and gave Liverpool a proper good test defensive. Frank has impress me this season with his overall approach. Well done to Villa and Dean Smith for beating Utd yesterday. They got their tactical approach right and he has change his formation this season to allow him to play Ings and Watkins up front.
  25. We are clearly losing our supporter base and fast.A new low under the dreaded tenure of Venkys happened tonight I believe....we experienced our lowest league gate at Ewood since it was rebuilt some 28 years ago.Apathy within the Town is clearly at an all time high since the dark days of the mid 80's. Blackpool(with all due respect) had some two thousand more on Bloomfield tonight, let that sink in. A decade of owner negligence, lack of supporter/owner interaction coupled with a CEO who appears to have little connection nor understanding of the local demographics of the Town and then you throw in a Manager well past his welcome and you have a recipe for disaster...you reap what you sow. To see Ewood so empty is a heartbreaker, this is not what JW wanted.A radical change of direction is needed within the corridors of Power at Ewood before It's too late. Genuinely worried and saddened at events unfolding.
