  1. Assuming we don't go up, which only the biggest of optimist would expect now, how would people judge Mowbray's tenure as a whole if he left in the summer and how many out of 10 would you mark his reign. There has been a lot of hyperbole often at the most emotive of times eg during/after a loss, silly comparisons, lots of analysis of stupid little things and conspiracy theories but I am wondering how people would reflect overall a few days after a game amidst an international break when things are calmer. I would give it a 6, its been ok. The club as a whole are definitely in a better position now, and we have never been at all close to going down during the last 4 years since we comfortably got promoted. His transfer record is fairly good, he has spent between 15m-20m, we got not far off that for Armstrong and a Brereton sale will go well past that, Gallagher is his worst signing for value. I think I would hold no ill will towards him and if he ever came back he would deserve applause rather than any ill will. What about everyone else?
  2. 1) " I never comment on a Referee's performance, Brian, and I'm not breaking my rule for that incompetent Pratt " ( Ron Atkinson ) 2) " Of course there are better Centre-halves than you, Jack, but you possess the qualities I need in the system I wish to employ " ( Alf Ramsey to Jack Charlton 1966 ) 3) Italian Journalist to Bob Paisley, pre-match before the 1977 European Cup Final, " Have you been to Rome before, Mr Paisley ? ", " Aye, just the once ", " A scouting mission ? " .... " No, 1944, on the back of a Sherman tank ! " 4) Post match interviewer, " Can I have a quick word ? ", Manager " Velocity ! " ( Martin Buchan/Gordon Strachan ) 5) " I wouldn't say I'm the best manager in the Country, but I'm definitely in the top 1 " ( Brian Clough ) 6) " I'm sorry Gentlemen, It's my day off " ( Alf Ramsey to the assembled Press, at his home the day after England's world Cup win ) 7) " Kevin Keegan's a great player, but I wouldn't fancy his chances knee deep in dust ! " ( Bill Shankly, on hearing of a proposal to allow fans to have their ashes scattered on the Anfield pitch ) 😎 " Tom Finney on the right wing, but I'd have to think about the rest " ( Tommy Doherty, on being asked to name an all-time British XI ) 9) " We try to equalise before the opposition score ! " ( Danny Blanchflower to a bemused European Press, asking about Northern Ireland's tactics at the 1958 World Cup ) Some old chestnuts here, can anyone suggest some additions ?
  3. If you could ask Tomasson one question what would it be? I would like to ask him why he persists with a way of playing that the players just aren't suited to. I'm guessing there will be a common theme here.
  4. Name your Premier League all-time X1 of players that never got the plaudits/rewards they truly deserved and would never make your average PL all-time X1, but you admired them. Any formation allowed with at least 1 GK. Non-Rovers encouraged (although Rovers are ofc allowed), as I'd love to start seen PL players named that I've long forgotten about. The more random/obscure, the better! To get the ball rolling, I'm picking no ex-Rovers: Here's mine, 433: Schwarzer Hibbert Radebe Southgate Riise Palacios Barry Krancjar Valencia Saha Malbranque
  5. Memories of Roy Hodgson's time in charge. Started off well and then went tits up. Any inside scoops on what went wrong?
  6. Football is rife with examples of owners buying football clubs without doing sufficient due diligence *Harry Hill sideways look to camera*…but let’s have some fun with a thought experiment…what if Elon Musk had decided to buy Rovers & run it like he has started to run Twitter..? Here’s my starter for ten… 1. Sacks all the existing board members…installs himself as CEO/Team Manager/Coach/Academy Head 2. Sacks all the marketing staff…issues threats to season ticket holders that monthly subscriptions to the 1875 club will be mandatory & will cost $8 per month 3. Trash Tweets about Vincent Kompany on a daily basis 4. Employs Tesla engineers to devise new training programme for the first team 5. Borrows $44bn somehow secured against a mortgage on Ben Brereton-Diaz (even though many wise commentators advise that a mortgage over a human being isn’t actually a thing..)
  7. I have recently been lucky enough to have come into my possession a copy of what is believed to have been our Club's very first written History. The book was published in 1895 and was given out at the Club's 'Grand Bazaar' event hosted at the Town's Exchange Hall to Club Officials and Event Sponsors. The 'Bazaar' was held to raise funds for Rovers incurring costs moving to Ewood from Leamington St.There are very few known to exist and are as rare as rocking Horse shyte.I do believe Rovers Memorabilia collector Bernie Horne has a copy in his possession. Now then..on the very first page it states Rovers were founded at the Town's St Leger Hotel just after Christmas 1874. Controversy about to unfold? A few pictures of the Precious Book....
  8. Have a read & add your comments in the thread…👍🏻 https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/rovers...are-we-any-good/308
  9. Copy of Copy of Vote for your (2).mp4 With over 2,400 votes, BRFCS members have named Thomas Kaminski as their player of the month with Dominic Hyam in second and Adam Wharton in third. Agree?
  10. Anyone else remember Richard Brown or Tony Dobson? Nine year old me saw them as important first team players back in 1991 (I don't know how accurate my memory is about that - they might well have been crap). Any other players that were regular first teamers but hardly ever get a mention?
  11. I know there's a thread somewhere but I can't be arsed finding it. How long do you think we can keep him? I'm guessing there'll be alot of interest in him in the summer.
  12. inspired by this…article… https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/07/absolute-tripe-readers-worst-football-matches-seen?utm_term=63404bb734beaa1461a86ccf07ff233a&utm_campaign=TheFiver&utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&CMP=fiver_email Not necessarily involving Rovers…but try not to let recency bias cloud your judgement…😉
  13. I think we would have given United a right fight for it and had Shearer been available after Christmas I think its very possible Walker would have realised his dream immediately.
  14. As a kid had the 1992-93 season review bought in the old club shop which was in a terrace house on Nuttall Street at the time. Loved that video. Had these flames on the intro if I recall with a rip off of Alive & Kicking. The guy doing the voice over would say for example ''We here at rovers look forward to 1993'' etc only to find out the same guy does voice overs for loads of clubs season reviews and says ''we here at Coventry city'' haha The Best 1994-95 Christmas mid season review video was also a decent video. The 1991-92 Rovers Return is on Youtube. Read Rovers Revolution recently. Very nice book but glossed over too many interesting topics for my liking such as the decline post 1995 etc... Any autobiographies by ex players or other books that give real insight behind the scenes at the time? Its a pity that many old traditions such as match programmes and videos seem to have all but disappeared.
  15. The Premier League is a multi-billion pound industry yet 8 of the 20 clubs have not confirmed that they pay the real living wage to all their staff. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62996172 Outside of the Premier League, Luton Town of the Championship and League Two Grimsby Town are the only two Living Wage Foundation-accredited clubs in the English Football League This is important. There is a cost of living crisis and many people and families are struggling. The least football clubs can do is pay their staff, either permanent or temporary, a real living wage I'd like to see Rovers on the list of clubs that have the decency to pay their staff a real living wage. The multi-millionaire managers who run Rovers have the power to do so if they wished.
  16. What stand and tier in your opinion offers the best view/atmosphere or combination of the two?
  17. Memories? An absolutely disastrous campaign bar the final game. Who was at the games? Would we have done better under King Kenny?
  18. This weekends games. Friday Burnley V Norwich Saturday Birmingham V Swansea Backpool V Boro Bristol C V Preston Cardiff V Hull Coventry V WBA QPR V Huddersfield Sheff U V Rottherham Stoke V Luton Sunderland V Millwall Watford V Reading Wigan V Rovers
  19. Don't know if he has a thread if so. Apologies but wow never seen an 18 year old play with such composure for rovers since possibly Dunn or duff. This lad looks like he's going to the top.
  20. Hi all, Sunderland fan here. Tony Mowbray is our new boss. Could you tell me how you all feel about him please? Style of football, formation etc, Is it true he likes to field a youthful line up? Reckon a mid table finish is a shoe-in with him. A lot of our fans are underwhelmed after losing Alex Neil who was very popular.
  21. Sunderland fan in peace. It’s looking increasingly likely that he will replace Neil as our manager before Wednesday’s game v Rotherham. Just wondering what your thoughts are on him as a manager? Thanks in advance
  22. I’m travelling from Sydney, Australia for the Stoke game on 27th August. Where is the best place to go in Blackburn for pre and post match?
  23. Selling these beauties as they went unsold previously https://www.ebay.ie/itm/125474466003?hash=item1d36dc68d3:g:IDMAAOSwEcBjAUS2&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsM1oegrLZePXxDPMOlW7NaLdAwwlC%2F75nAbYFEn3iR1TqaBXbgJGlj3sB0bBYnnVItMSzcOCL34sMYafq3blAve17ikJyKufLDlCEGJe2QPaXjDdo6lVve7t3Ca2tvyIJtrRvUEpyvQkp0pEdYFA%2Bo2yKFSinpAQddeRGRTTV1Jw6%2FOd7M1euYTt4ISnJn0c0JHMSllPBx4GOQpo2iXGmZGCufLvkVqOotEC%2FzDpsoyg|tkp%3ABk9SR9b1j8PZYA
