  1. Yeah I know, probably not the right subforum. However the site is now impossible to navigate due to ads (mobile). Look at this mess. I can’t even close the damn thing because the close button is behind the privacy tab.
  2. Does this guy not have his own thread? Or are my searching skills diminishing? I'd give this guy the captaincy next season. Mr. Dependable. Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year, so clearly well-liked and respected all around. Has the experience and at the right age for it. Just do it. ✔️
  3. I thought I would start a thread for the coming season for the PL. City and Liverpool have both signed 1 player. Both looks like they are strengthen and I would expect those 2 challenging for the title and I think Spurs will be there challenging. Chelsea need to strength and it will interest to see where and how much money they spend under their new owners. Think Arsenal and Manchester United need signings. I think Ten Hag will need time and to rebuild them if he can. Everton are in takeover talks and might be under new ownership shortly. Everton takeover: Peter Kenyon, real estate boss and billionaire behind bid to buy out Farhad Moshiri (msn.com) Fixtures are out tomorrow aswell.
  4. HI, this is a photo of the inscription on a medal won by my late father. Unfortunately, the medal was only discovered after he died. I assume it was from a local league, but I can’t find any information of what I think is B.T.A.F.L. Can anyone help, please.
  5. I'm looking forward to seeing new Championship season now. Only 6 weeks away now before the season starts and fixtures are our on 23rd June. Rovers, Dingles Blackpool, QPR and Watford have new head coaches in charge. I think it will be wide open division and I don't see any clear favourite at this stage. Could change but its will down to recruitment and who clubs sign.
  6. Not sure if anyone can help me please. I'm a Middlesbrough memorabilia collector and I'm trying to fill some gaps in my ticket collection. I'm after the following ticket stubs if anyone has them for sale? Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 05.12.92 Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough 21.12.96 (postponed ticket) Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 19.03.97 (dated 08.03.97) Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 17.10.98 Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough 10.10.01 Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 20.04.02 Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 31.08.02 Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers 07.02.04 Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough 18.03.06 Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough 19.01.08 Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough 01.03.16 Any help finding these is appreciated. Cheers Chris chris.fountain2@ntlworld.com
  7. Everyone's going crazy for ChatGPT at the moment, if you're locky enough to have access to be able to interact with it post your football, especially Rovers related texts here ...
  8. Amusing and interesting chat about title wins (and lack of for Lineker) here. I don't think it's been posted anywhere else but if there is a Shearer thread please merge it mods 👍
  9. I am currently part way through reading the fantastic Issue 107 of 4000 Holes, on the Rovers' 2000-10 era, and having read an excellent piece on Souey and "the myth", I felt inspired to make this thread in order to reminisce about one of the finest strikers in Premier League history. A man who wore the famous blue and white shirt and scored the key goal to land Rovers the League Cup in Cardiff. The man? Andy Cole. This thread is also a show of support for Coley, after he recently hit out at online critics for disrespecting his name by comparing him with Darwin Nunez. I think he is often viewed unfairly due to silly comments made by Hoddle on his finishing ability. He was certainly no Jason Roberts in the finishing stakes, and 187 Premier League goals tells us that. Link to the Nunez story here: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/andy-cole-nunez-liverpool-comparison-28815421 It still makes me proud to think that a top Premier League marksman like Andy Cole played for the Rovers and played a major role in the club being successful. I remember hearing Coley say in an interview, how he regretted leaving Rovers and wished that he had stayed longer. This is backed up by 4000 Holes, where he is quoted as saying "I so wanted to see out my career at Rovers. That picture in my head had seemed so perfect - great club, family club, great team, scoring goals - but it had gone". Those last four words are in relation to a bust up he had with Souey, which forced him to leave the club. The sad thing is, it was just Souey being silly and petty at the time which forced Cole out. He would often call Cole "a myth" and ask him how many European Cups he had won. Banter, maybe? An attempt to gee up Cole, maybe? This spilled over one day during a training ground bust up between them, and that was that for their relationship. On a brighter note, Cole revealed that Souey apologised to him for what went on at Rovers when the pair bumped into each other at Euro 2016. Water under the bridge now, but damn! It was all so avoidable. Anyway, a few questions: How did you feel upon hearing the news that Rovers had signed Cole? Shocked? Excited? Stunned? Was there anybody, apart from Vinjay, thinking "I don't want that United #@/:;"! anywhere near Rovers"? I'm getting excited thinking about it even now, and he signed almost 22 years ago! (Where have the years gone?) What a signing though. What a statement of intent that was. I was absolutely buzzing at the time about the fact we were getting a top striker in. The reported £8m transfer fee only added to it all. The United link didn't even come into it for me. What are some of your favourite Cole memories in a Rovers shirt? Top 3 Cole goals in Rovers colours? Apart from the cup final goal. I will name my three after having a think, but the goal of his at Loftus Road against Fulham is up there for me. Yellow HSA shirt, Tugay lofted through ball over the top, Cole chests it and smashes it into the net. I simply love that goal. Quality and clinical. How did you feel when he left the club in 2004? A clip to remind us of some of his goals. Tugay is the main subject of the video, but it has a few Cole finishes within it. Cole made 99 appearances for Rovers, scoring 37 goals. He helped us to finish 10th in our first season back, helped get us into Europe twice, scored the winner in Cardiff, and played his part in ensuring we stayed up in his last season here. Worth every penny. Thanks for the memories, Coley. What you did for the Rovers, especially in the cup final, won't be forgotten around these parts.
  10. Sorry to distract from tonight's main event but I'm a governor at a local primary school and I'd like to get a ball or a shirt signed by some of the players which we can then use a prize in the raffle at our summer fair (I'd buy the ball/shirt first obv - we don't want it to be given to us for free). Does anyone have any experience of how to get this done? I've emailed a few management contacts at Rovers but heard nothing back. Is the best thing to do just to hang around Brockhall looking a bit pathetic (not difficult) and gesture at my ball to passing Range Rovers? Thanks, Hugechin
  11. Because its ignored by everyone else. Yet paddy's day is celebrated in England no matter what

  14. We're at the business end of the season now, it's all to play for - and looking at the table it's still pretty tight at both ends! Which 3 do you think will go up to the PL? Which 3 do you think will go down to L1? I'll go first I guess! Up Burnley (1st) Middlesbrough (2nd) Rovers (PO) Down Wigan (24th) Blackpool (23rd) Rotherham (22nd)
  15. According to Wikipedia, the most reliable source of information, the 2011 pre-season tour of India had Venky's as the kit sponsor. It was then The Prince's Trust for the actual season. Does anyone know where I can find a picture of the Venky's sponsor kit? Or is there footage from it? I'm just curious what it looked like, and can't find it on Google.
  16. I keep fluctuating - one day I feel like we have absolutely no chance, the next I can be full of hope. If we can maintain the same level of aggression and determination that we displayed in the second half against Hudds throughout the rest of our remaining games, and keep creating chances (54 shots in our last 3 games) then I think we've a decent chance. There's certainly a team in there, with a few minor refinements I guess we could make the play-offs. What do you think?
  17. This picture was posted on our board, he was making a delivery to Bargain Booze in the fine city of Stoke-on-Trent. Scored a few goals against us back in the day, for various clubs.. I presume it will be easier for you lot than it was for us...
  18. Hi everyone, Just wanted to drop a quick note as my survey is winding down. Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to participate - I really appreciate it! The number of responses has exceeded my original expectations and I'm grateful for the valuable insights you've shared. The survey will be closing at midnight this Sunday, so if you're keen to have your voice heard, click on the link here: Microsoft Forms. No pressure, though - I totally get it if you're not keen on filling out surveys. I know you all get bombarded with requests like these, so thanks again for helping me out. Your feedback will be invaluable in helping me analyse the data. Thanks for your time and all the best for the rest of your season.
  19. Hi, Please delete this if it is not appropriate. I am currently conducting research for my dissertation and would really appreciate any responses to my short survey. It only takes 5 minutes to complete and your input would be invaluable in helping me achieve a good mark. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Your participation is greatly appreciated! 20. Today has totally murdered me. It's made me think of the times that rovers have really brought me low. Palace eighty nine George bloody Courtney, glad all over and going into second leg with a healthy lead. Just absolutely unreal Sheffield Wednesday cup semi in ninety three. We'd just signed Anderson and I was hopeful of a trip to Wembley Leicester at home in ninety two or was it ninety one. I can still remember Russell getting that lucky bounce off mimms, all these years later. We needed a win to get back on track but we lost again The champions League campaign, the first portent that we were on the slide. Trelleborgs at home was a dead rubber. Great expectations come to nought Thecup semi against Chelsea, Morten missing An easy header Defeat against Burnley always hurts of course . think that's it
  21. The Brentford match thread has included a lot of chatter about the potential renovation of the Riverside Stand at Ewood Park. The club have expressed a will to “do something” about the stand in recent past according to Steve Waggott and seemingly there are many different visions among the supporter base about what should and could happen. Some are suggesting a reduction in capacity for supporters, lowering from 4,000 seats in TRS currently, to as low as 1,000 by some fans estimations. Others look at Millwall’s and Brentford’s plans and see a necessity for an increase in capacity instead. Most seem to agree on the idea of a hotel, and an improvement to disabled supporters facilities on a game day. Currently, disabled facilities at Ewood are significantly behind other clubs at our level. We have no viewing platforms like at the DW Stadium, and wheelchair users end up sat at the front of TRS in the pouring rain, watching from a horrid (lower than the pitch itself) angle. So let’s use this thread to share some ideas amongst ourselves, discuss the possibilities and the practicalities of any potential upcoming renovations to the stand, and see if we can come up with a consensus between ourselves and see what we all agree and don’t agree on! TRS = The Riverside Stand
  22. I’ve been thinking of posting this for a few days. I wanted to thank each and every one of you for making me feel so welcome on this forum. This, along with the teams performances over the past few months, has really reignited my passion for my club. I’m even starting to try to work out how I can get to a match before the season ends (it would help if they didn’t keep moving them!) Thank you again 😀😀
  23. I have been approached by the wife of a Rovers fan who sadly died from dementia a few years ago. She has his collection of programmes that she wants to get rid of and hopes they can be found a good home rather than being thrown away. They are not especially old - some date from 1992 but most are from 2001-2006. I also have a lot off programmes myself which my wife would also like to get out of the house and in truth I'm quite happy to let go (I'll be keeping a few though!). If anyone wants them or knows of a good home please pm me. Separately I asked the club first to see if they knew of a good home and I got this from Nick Cooney at the Community Trust: - We are looking out for pre 1950s programmes, plus any original items, kit etc to form part of our future museum, if you do hear of anything or descendants of ex players, that would be great. So once again pm me if you can help.
  24. Of the 92 current Clubs in the top 4 tiers of English Football, only 6 have yet to play at the " new " Wembley, can you name them ? Albert Allen ( Aston Villa ), Jack Yates ( Burnley ), John Veitch & Walter Gilliat ( Corinthians ) and Frank Bradshaw ( Sheffield Wednesday ) were all England Internationals, but all have one thing in common, what is it ? Which League ground is closest to the River Mersey ?
  25. Hi all starting a thread after some really helpful tips from fellow rovers fans (VPN/ talk sport/ address change on bbc sounds) all none of which are helping me listen to my beloved rovers from down here in Bristol. for tech reasons Bbc sounds won't let me listen to bbc lancs live when a game is live, so am looking for some ideas/ tips, any suggestions fellow rovers fans? many thanks all Neil in Bristol
