  1. Hello fellow Rovers fans, I am posting this on behalf of my best mate Tom (a big Stoke City fan) who currently lives in Darwen. His fiancée (only 31) has recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer on her spine, hip, shoulder, skull & now liver. As much as we would all love to help her, the cancer is incurable, so we could try & raise money for future research to help future sufferers. On the 27th May Tom, his brother, his dad & 12 of us lads (mostly Rovers fans) are going to be tackling the 3 peaks 24 hour challenge. If you could spare a few minutes to visit Tom’s GoFundMe page to see what it’s all about it would be much appreciated & if you are in a position to donate, that would be even better. Here is the link below to the page, even if you just have a read 👍🏻 https://gofund.me/a044d338
  2. I'm not sure whether this would interest anyone, but I figured I'd scan it in case it does. Here's the program from the Final. 1960 FAC Cup Final Program : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Yeah, I realize I spelled it FAC instead of FA Cup. Don't care to fix it ha
  3. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. The websites 11v11 and EnglishFootballLeagueTables did not have the information I'm looking for. I'm wanting to research our historical form in February. I can find the league tables for every year besides 1999-2000. What I'm specifically looking for is our position in the table on January 31, 2000 then again on March 1, 2000. Would anyone know where I could look to find these two stats? Maybe someone has the 1999-00 season review, a bunch of those reviews had that information in them.
  4. I use to watch loads of rovers home and away live on ifollow for £10 when covid was here, when club stopped supporters entering the stadium. Is ifollow still available to watch live home and away matches, I've heard its £140 a year for a pass.
  5. Just came across the full replay of the League Cup Final from 2002 on YouTube. Wasn't aware it was online, and thought others might want to watch it too. What a team we had then, and such happier times! A few things came to mind as I watched: How good was Brad. Those 3 saves from Ferdinand were just a testament to his quality. We took 30,000. The commentators mentioned it being a third of the town, and joked about the last person leaving switching the lights off. A town really behind their club! The numbers weren't actually that surprising though, considering we averaged 25k as late as 2011. How old were the Spurs forward line! Sherwood was the spring chicken at 33, with Poyet(34), Ferdinand(35) and Sheringham at 36. Age must have played a factor as the game progressed, and we weren't overly tested after Cole scored. All were trumped though by (Wales manager) Mark Hughes at 38. How did he last 90 mins! What a player Matt Jansen was. Eriksson has a lot to answer for wasting our golden generation, but taking Keown over Matty in 2002 was arguably his biggest crime! Watching it reminds me of the Wigan debate when they were relegated and won the cup, and whether they would have preferred staying up. In hindsight, I would side with winning the cup for the memories! I'm sure the club will commemorate it, and let's hope it's a double celebration as we clinch promotion this year. Would love to hear others' memories of the day.
  6. Unless I missed a change in the law. Tottenham corner and the linesman standing there. I see it all the time. Other contenders ”We will take each game as it comes.” Every manager asked if they have a chance of winning anything. “The club is on a journey.” Every manager after a run of losses to avoid any questions about the sack. Any other beefs as we wait for when Saturday comes.
  7. Don't suppose anyone has Rovers v Middlesbrough 25.03.1969 programme for sale? Also, does anyone know if there was a programme produced for the postponed game 07.10.1989 also against Middlesbrough? Any help is appreciated
  8. If there was to be a protest following this latest balls up if there was a protest who do people believe this should be against. I dont believe many would protest against the owners at this stage. Would it be just Waggot, would it be Sylvester, would it be the board in general would that include Broughton??
  9. I think this deserves its own thread. There is a podcast with Gregg Broughton here. It was recorded the day after the Bonlah defeat. I really think it's worth listening to because there is a lot to dissect, as well as some interesting nuggets of information about how the football world works behind the scenes in the modern era.

  12. Can't confirm this but word among Man Utd supporters is that he's been told he'll have chronic problems for the rest of his life if he keeps playing so he's virtually done already. One person who seems to be close with the Academy there said the main reason he's being allowed to see out his contract is so he can be rehabbed for quality of life post-football rather than a return to play, with the club helping him get qualifications as he transitions to being part-time and then retiring at the end of the season, much like how they supported keeper Paul Woolston when injury forced him to retire. Shame to see such a promising career end the way it has, guy could have been one of the world's top defenders had injuries not completely disintegrated his knee. Maybe he'll get a job as a youth coach at United or Blackburn once he's got his qualifications?
  13. I’m planning on travelling up from Scotland next year with my dad (born in Blackburn) and taking him to a game. I would ideally like to take him to Blackburn Burnley but not sure if I’ll be able to get tickets. Do these games usually sell out?
  14. Just to wish you all a great Christmas from everyone at BRFCS…thanks for your support, passion & enthusiasm for all things Blackburn Rovers !
  15. Seen this thread on another Football forum and decided to start it on here, just for fun. What are some weird feelings of football that you have, that aren't necessarily 100 percent true, but they seem that way? They can be Rovers related if you want, but can also extend to world football in general and apply to any era. The only rule is they can't be 100 percent true. Disclaimer: None of these statements are to be taken as facts. They are not factually true. Humour is the underlying theme of this thread. I'll start us off with some examples: 1) Brad Friedel never conceded a goal against Man United when playing for Rovers. 2) Matches at the Nou Camp can only be played at night. 3) Villarreal have had the same home kit for the past 18 years and have never had an away kit. 4) The Nigerian Men's football team ceased to exist after World Cup '98. Nobody knows what happened, but their last ever game on the International stage was the 4-1 defeat against Denmark in the last 16, in June 1998. 5) Edinson Cavani has never scored a goal, yet is viewed as being a lethal striker. I'm sure you'll be able to add a few more.
  16. Roll up roll up https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/april/22/2022-23-season-tickets-out-now-/ Think I'll be waiting and seeing what happens.
  17. Bloody hell! Iranian footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani could face execution QATAR WORLD CUP 2022 According to 'Iranwire', Amir Nasr-Azadani (26) was sentenced to death for "treason" after showing his support for human rights and defending women's rights in his country. The international players' union Fifpro denounces the case: "We stand in solidarity with Amir and demand that his sentence be lifted immediately". Sign this petition for the Iranian regime to STOP the execution of footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani. https://chng.it/vC2fVkhz79
  18. So I was wondering if people could help me out with something I'm writing. I'm curious how you celebrate your love for Rovers at home. Do you have an entire room decorated in Rovers gear? Do you just have a scarf hanging in the closet? Personally, I have a few scarves in my office hanging above my tapes. I'd like you to tell me a little something about how you've decorated, or what is Rovers that's important to you at home. Maybe share a picture of your collection. Also, if you have a lot of things, what's the one special piece that means the most to you?
  19. move this thread if not in the right place. Rovers ON THIS DAY
  20. Goodmorning. I have changed my plans and will not be able to go this match. I have 1 adult ticket in the Ronnie Clayton stand No5 and it is print at home so i can email it to anyone who wants it. Have a great day. Torben
  21. Was talking to an Irish mate about Kevin. We agreed he was as hard as nails. He played a major role in getting Rovers out of what was the old second division. I think we all remember the goal against Derby in the play-off semi. For sheer bravery, it's difficult to match. I think he was one of those players that had great assurance in his play, you never worried about the man. Two points: - am I right in thinking that we signed him on a free transfer? If so, have we ever made a better free signing? And two, have we ever had a harder player? John McNamee perhaps?
  22. Blackburn out to poach non-league strike sensation Josh Stones from Guiseley. Wigan also interested https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/17856616/josh-stones-guiseley-transfer-blackburn-wigan/
  23. Good day promotions chasing sexy Rovers fans! Yeap you read that right! I need some help. As we edge closer to the mini break at the end of November I am switching focus to World Cup content and I am looking for football (in a dream world Blackburn Rovers) fans from each of the nations taking part in this years tournament. I have managed to connect with a few, however struggling for some supporters from some of the more tricky nations. My aim is connect with REAL FANS from these nations and showcase their thoughts/dreams for Qatar 2022. All communication will be done digitally with occasional Zoom/video chats taking place throughout the tournament. If you are a fan from a nation taking part and would like to be part of the project please buzz me back! Help me BRFCS your my only hope! Regards, Dirk
  24. Good morning. I’d like to ask for some advice please. I’m putting together a book – a photo-led nostalgia book, not entirely a history tome – about how grounds used to look in the black and white era before the Taylor Report swept away standing terraces. Ewood Park with its rich history will, of course, be featured heavily. The book (hopefully Vols 1, 2 and 3) will be a follow-up to my Lifted Over The Turnstiles 3-volume collection of books about Scottish football grounds: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=lifted+over+the+turnstiles&i=stripbooks&crid=1YPCRDC4130ZJ&sprefix=lifted+over+the+turnstiles%2Cstripbooks%2C57&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 Or Google “Lifted Over The Turnstiles Book”. I’m wondering if someone might give me a recommendation who to ask about good pix of Ewood? Are there club enthusiasts, historians, old press or private photographers, archives, or other sources you might point me towards? Ideally, I’d like pix of the ground’s terraces and stands empty, or on-pitch action with a good, illustrative view of terraces in the background. If possible. Old pix at high-resolution (screengrabs from websites don’t come up well in print). Preferably 50s, 60s, 70s — the way a supporter aged 60 to 80 will remember it. I am willing, of course to pay for copyright and will give credits in the book for the provenance of the photos. The aim is to celebrate the experiences of standing in a swaying, tight-packed, excited/angry/celebrating/commiserating/local-derby-fevered football crowd. It is a thing younger supporters will never have experienced. I still miss it. I want to do full and proper justice to Ewood. I can be contacted at stevefinan1963@gmail.com Many thanks. Steve Finan. Rovers have had a good start to the season, I must say. Long may it continue.
