The much loved International Break is upon us . . . So what better time than to start a new England thread . . .especially since it also signifies the start of some kind of new International Carabao Cup . . or something. . . See what the heck that is here and only waste 1min 38secs of your life in the process. It's also got it's very own anthem to rival any God of War Playstation game. I see Southgate was bemoaning the lack of English players in the Premiership the other day. Things look pretty grim for the supposed 'new golden generation'. I suspect most of the kids that played in and won the under-age International tournaments recently will simply fall by the wayside. Case in point, the article states that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has only played 22 competitive minutes for Chelsea since the world cup (and since the article was written - he only played 11 minutes more as a sub vs Bournemouth at home). If you're only getting 11 minutes when you're playing at home against one of the 'weak' teams in the Premiership. . . it doesn't bode well for the future. Southgate says he'll have to look to The Championship for England players. So as long as the expected Northern Winter kicks in and the BBQ has to go away until June - what chances Bradley Dack making the squad in the not too distant future? I see sicknote has already pulled out of the squad. Probably the usual lies by the usual foreign England hating managers. A bad back is a great one to use if you want to skive off work btw as even doctors can't prove or disprove it. So the revised England squad for the Water buffalo league with a bizarre nondescript friendly thrown into the mix is: Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Alex McCarthy (Southampton) Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Harry Maguire (Leicester City) Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), James Tarkowski (Burnley), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Manchester City) Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea) Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal) Are you getting excited yet? Or will you simply be spending all your time trolling Twitter and Instagram looking for pictures of Sterling riding a show pony?

    Sporcle Rovers quizzes

Apologies if this has been posted before but I only discovered this recently - there are some brilliant Rovers related quizzes on the Sporcle website, in my opinion none better than this one, where you have to name the most used eleven players of every season in the 1980s and 1990s. Very frustrating.... https://www.sporcle.com/games/culverhouse/top-xis-blackburn-1980s-1990s-copy

    European Championship Qualification.

Well Engerland are at it again, Against the CZE, as it says on the telly box. First things first, there was a lovely tribute to Gordon Banks. And a very brief mention of Fred Pickering, but no photo...... I loved Banks, never saw Fred, but a bit more would have been nice. The City little fellow has put us one nil up. Onwards and upwards?

    Player of the season 2019

With the players apparently having finished up for the season, lets get the ball rolling with this. For me it has to be Graham. In a season of disappointments with players who I expected so much more from(Lenihan, Nyambe , Brereton, Rothwell). Inconsistent players (Dack, Reed, Bell, Rodwell) And frankly those who have really disappointed (Mulgrew, Raya) Then the final category, squad pedestrians (Bennett, Conway, Evans, Smallwood) To be honest the only players apart from Graham who has exceeded my expectations were Armstrong (who could arguably go to the inconsistent players list) and Travis. 1-Graham 2-Armstrong 3- Travis

  11. I don't know if this has been done on here before but I'll give it a whirl. If you could add, change, or remove a rule in football to make the game better what would it be? Mine would be to treat injuries like they do in rugby. Instead of players lying prostrate followed by a few seconds of benign passing before someone puts it out of play so that a physio can come on, I'd have play continue as normal. The ref waves on the physio who tends to the injured player whilst the game goes on around them. The ref still has discretion to halt proceedings if they deem that it's warranted. To me this would not only cut down on time wasting, but it would ensure that those who aren't really injured would think twice before asking for the magic sponge.
  12. https://fantasyfootball.telegraph.co.uk/championship/home I've only just noticed this and it is free to play as long as you aren't also playing The Telegraph version of the Premier League or Champions League game. £50 million budget to pick 11 players. You can choose from a number of different formations. I've created a league if anyone wants to join. League Pin: 8166816 Password: 1875.
  13. Due to be released this morning. If we are going off them lot down the roads fixtures, it looks like we'll be away first & boxing day, and at home new years day/last day of the season. Anyone got any preferences? For me, if we're starting away I hope we can avoid the likes of Stoke/Derby/Boro etc. Someone like QPR/Hull would be good I think.
