Swiss Ramble thread on Rovers' finances

Sheff Weds under embargo last season Derby’s sale & leaseback is being challenged by Middlesbrough. What if they lose on Monday ? Burnley went up under “he who shall not be named” with no parachute payments

LT mentioning Lyndsay from Barnsley and some kid from Everton under 23s - who worked with TM previously. Our scouting has come on leaps and bounds 😂 Seriously though, the 'budget' and recent comments don't seem those of a team about to challenge for promotion. *Unless he sells Dack.

You'll need your passport and visa to enter the Metropolis 😁. Watch out for the peregrine falcon. It's also on Monday.

IMO, a mentally and physically fit Dack is a very good Championship player. Rhodes scored goals for fun at Rovers but, IMO, has failed miserably since leaving. When we first signed Rhodes and he scored a few goals, some on here were lauding him as the new Shearer - it was nonsense. I always thought his lack of pace, aggression and physicality would prevent him from hacking it in the PL - in fact, I think he's now struggling at Championship level. I see similar hype where Dack is concerned, however, IMO, his lack of pace and an indifferent attitude will prevent Dack from even getting to the PL never mind hacking it at that level. When at Rovers, for most of the time, I thought Rhodes made the most of what he had in his locker - sadly, I don't think that could be said about Dack.

Exactly - the damage done in three months after relegation probably sewed up 50m in useless wages and pay outs.

Haha, weird. This literally never happened. Ever. Iv never said we are going to sign this player or that player. Neither have I poked fun at you about this. I did ask for some calm during the bad run when several in here were calling for the head of the manager. My point through all of this is that the manager has set his stall out. He’s shown his hand in terms of his ambition. If we are to achieve that then he will have to sign much better players. So let’s judge him and the club at the end of the window. None of this has changed and quite frankly the hysteria amongst grown men that can be created from 30 second excerpts of interviews in India is laughable. I often wonder if people read back their posts and think “How on earth did I get SOO upset over that?”

Second best player I've seen in the blue and white halves after Shearer, just an absurdly good player.

Swiss Ramble thread on Rovers' finances

(Off topic be damned!) The Lewis Travis BANISHED FROM THE TEAM trope is pretty revisionist as to what Travis had actually shown us up until that point. Mowbray gave him his debut of course, and before the game in which he was sent off : Travis he had only played a total of 55 league minutes for the club. I don’t know about you lot, but I found the League One season pretty bloody stressful. There was a hell of a lot at stake. It was far from questionable or short sighted to leave him out for the majority of games after this. And then new season rolls around. Trav wants a loan, TM says you’re an important part of the first team picture here now on so forget it. Travis really hadn’t shown yetananything but promise, and the team was ticking over well enough initially, so he has to wait for his chance. Sona couple of months later... TACTICALLY, DELIBERATELY, AND NOT “FORCED” - Trav starts a league game, does well and is basically ever present ever since. If we can add the “mismanagement” of Rothwell (that has left him as our second best player) to the “misuse” of Travis (now our best midfielder), then I’m very, very, very excited to see who Mowbray can absolutely fuck up with next..

When I see the words parachute payments all I think of is Best, Murphy, Etuhu, Orrs contract extension and Rhodes, all the lot lot, four years worth blown right there. Only good thing in it was Jordan otherwise we'd have hit league one a lot sooner. Shocking just shocking.

Talk about United and Everton is fantasy but 15 goals and 7 assists for a team who finished 15th suggests he is not overrated at all. Parachute payments enable clubs who come down to support their high wage bill in the main. Its not just a booster of transfer budget.

    FA CUP

I am posting this here as I just came across it on YouTube, it's just a little older than me (the game that is), we beat Burnley and it's in the FA Cup. Brilliant, just look at a full Ewood rocking. Official attendance 52,920 Notable also for the commentator referring, historically correctly, to our Quartered shirts

    Happy Tugay Day

Can't believe it's ten years since that sad but great day it's one that will live in the memory as will he forever. Feel like I've aged 25 years with all that's gone on here since then but feel so privileged to have seen nearly all his games at Ewood for Rovers and many away. Sadly those times and those types of player are gone for good I think the club bares little resemblance to that era these days not even the bloody kits. Feel sorry for youngers fans who missed out on him and the others he truly was unique in many ways, what a character.

I tend to refer to our own when I say youth as in from the youth set up but yeah pretty much agree with the rest of it. As I said he has a way of doing things that he seems to steadfastly stick to and in some positions he clearly isn't keen on putting faith in them over his fav seniors until his hand is forced but by the same token he is brave enough to put them in when he feels the need. Anyway we seemed to have rambled off topic. Do Kentaro's reincarnation have offices in Zurich I wonder..........
