    Mowbray: Stay or go?

Yet Smallwood can do it and it's no problemo. Bennett last season too. I really feel that TM lets the more senior pros get away with things he punishes the hell out of younger players for. Another example is that Nyambe had a few off games in December I think it was, and he got benched for pretty much three months as a result. Meanwhile, Bennett has put several runs of poor games together and is a mainstay. Williams has been frequently awful but is always in or around the first team. It's bizarre. The only logical explanation (beyond doing it to keep his core of senior players, who he consults on everything with, happy) is that maybe he thinks the older players are too old to learn, but that it will help the younger players develop. I don't buy that, but at least there'd be a line of thinking which wasn't sychophantic. On Reed though, in fairness he did have a bit of a run of not being fully at the races. I don't think he was particularly any worse than Smallwood though during it. I think the fact he isn't our player and doesn't seem likely to become so is also a factor.

100% if he starts using excuses now for not playing them in the last few games, it's time to get very worried.

And anyone who has shown enough to earn more game time in the matches until then, should play the last game too, with any who haven't playing the cup final. First team football is at least as important to their development as that final, plus it gives us a sense of whether they can be relied on for next season. If the youngsters barely feature, we won't get that, which means when TM brings in new players the youngsters will just get sidelined all year. It's imperative we take advantage of this dead rubber end to the season to blood them properly. It's pretty much the only thing left worth doing!! TM talked a lot about doing this, and now the scenario has come to fruition he is getting cold feet on it. It's frankly frustrating.

Depends I suppose. When is the final etc OK edit, just checked above. If the final is 2 days after the last championship game, we'll then they could feature in any of the games except the last one.

    Brexit Thread

But when you voted in 2017 , depending on which party you voted for you knew who would be the prime minister based on which party had the most number of seats. Can you tell me how you knew Junker would be president of the EU commission and Julian King would be the UK commissioner depending on which party /mep you voted for in the 2014 EU elections.? Only one is elected by direct election so they are not the same

    Mowbray: Stay or go?

Mowbray's LT article on Reed just demonstrates, IMO, why he should no longer be our manager. I think it's just b 0 l l 0 c k s and bullsh1t. If Mowbray had managed England, there's no way the 'young' Bobby Moore would have been lifting the World Cup in 1966 having just turned 25 (only about 7 months older than Reed is now)!!!

Rovers away at QPR - Good Friday 19th April 2019

We should be on a roll. Fully expect two comfortable wins against QPR and Bolton. Hope Mowbray now realises we are much better on the front foot and it's best to let the opposition worry about us instead of dressing them up as Barca or Real. Mowbray needs to give the young players their head. Play them and tell them to go out enjoy and show the footballing world what they can do, Time to give the likes of Nyambe, Magloire, Davenport, Chapman, Buckley, Butterworth and Brereton some serious game time.

    Summer transfer window

I think the last time we moved really early was for none other than the great Miles Anderson after coming on and playing 3 minutes for Aberdeen. What a 3 minutes that must have been, he must have won the game single handed stopped 2 certain goals with last gasp defending and then laid on the winner. Now those are the sort of players we want. Wait a minute, I have just woken up from having a very strange and weird dream.

    Champions League 2018-2019

I think var will ultimately end up making the right decisions and improve overall ...I just don't like it. If the last minute Sterling goal was onside and city went through then var would have killed the moment. Can you imagine the famous AGUEROOOOW moment being referred to VAR . So whilst it will eventually make the game fairer with more correct decisions I just don't think it's worth it

In fairness I did remove some of the context (just because it was already a big post). The Lancashire Senior Cup final is two days after the last Championship game, and there is a Premier League Cup tie against Everton 24 hours after the Bolton game. But we have four games to play, not just two. Full article: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17581221.rovers-boss-mowbray-isnt-letting-his-players-lose-focus/ Aren't we allowed to play senior plays in the senior cup though? Whoever made way for the young lads could just go play that to improve our chances of winning.

As others have said I hope to see a few youngers blooded in. Brereton given a go up front from the start. Rothwell to continue his good form. Let them play without any caution. Cant see it though. 2-2

How did he perform defensively when playing there
  17. Stuart

    Academy & U'21's

I think we have plenty of options on the right wing and very few at right back. He’s played there for the U23s, if he can be converted then it’s a problem solved. If he can’t then I don’t think we’ll see him in a senior shirt.

Has Rankin Costello been playing at rb this season ? He was always a right winger / number 10 when I've seen him. Quick, slight and a good dribbler. Not saying it's a bad idea. In the modern game I could see him play in the style of Alexander Arnold but I don't know anything about his defensive capabilities. Just wondering have you seen him play there or is it where you think he should play. I.e the way Travis was a rb and has excelled in central midfield

Well the price reduction for the ‘fantastic supporters’ that are being bussed in for the Swansea game won’t subsidise itself!

New striker to back up DG + wide striker/winger = One Dominic Samuel esquire - like signing a new player !

Would giving three or four players a taste of the first team be a good thing or a bad thing ahead of a cup final?
  23. Stuart

    Academy & U'21's

What a crock! Both teams have just been made safe. Now is the time to start to blood some new players in both teams. I’m not talking about making 10 changes but certainly a game each for Buckley, Butterworth, JR-C at full back, as well as dropping Graham for Brereton (2 starts) and Nuttall (1 start). I totally agree with your sentiment. We are seeing the dried up, idealess Mowbray that I felt we had signed when he was brought in to keep us up. He didn’t but... he was straight into a pressure situation (of sorts) and then straight into a promotion campaign (and backed to the hilt). Are we now seeing the real Tony Mowbray? Stubborn, old-fashioned, and intransigent.

Gk. Raya Rb. Nyambe. Cb. Lenihan Cb. Williams Lb. Bell Cdm. Travis Cdm. Buckley Ram. Rothwell Cm. Dack Lam. Chapman F. Brereton Subs. Magloire, Butterworth for a decent cameo. Bennett to come on to waste time and fist pump the sun burned Lancashire lads n lasses. Didn't include Rodwell as I simply don't think he will be here next season

Are the under 23s still in a cup? If not, Mowbrays comments about not wanting to break them up are nonsense.
