    Summary

A late arrival to the Football League he was brought to Ewood because the Rovers' manager Ken Furphy knew him well from Watford and because the club was anxious to unload the perpetually brooding Eamon Rogers. Team morale was aided by the arrival of the bustling, ever committed Endean but his failure to find the net brought complaints. Once he started to hit the target the fans warmed to his enthusiasm but it was when he was unexpectedly moved to midfield that he started to enjoy celebrity status. His fierce tackling was unexpected and his ability to ruffle opponents endeared him. A local court case involving the illegal borrowing of a builder's vehicle brought him the nickname 'Dumper'. When he had finally finished playing he became manager at Chester le Street, his home town club.
