    Summary

The son of a Blackburn textile manufacturer, Fielding was signed after being spotted playing with Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. A voluble, energetic goalkeeper he overtook Zac Jones as the club’s youth team goalkeeper and his leadership qualities were recognised when he was made youth team captain. In 2006 he was promoted to become the reserve team regular goalkeeper and at the end of the 2007 season made his debut for the England Under 19 team. The following season he was loaned out so that he could play first team football and became a regular at Wycombe and played 36 league games. After playing pre-season against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, Fielding went on loan to Northampton, replacing Mark Bunn who had joined the Rovers. Later he went on loan to Rochdale. He was capped for the England Under 21 team during the season and improbably before he had played in the Premier League, found himself as a substitute for the full England team in 2011.
