    Summary

Douglas grew up in Clones and displayed such promise as a GAA player with Clones and Monaghan that he was tipped as a future great. Instead he decided to play association football . A strongly built midfield player he came back well from horrific ligament damage that threatened his future. A defensive player who always  carried out his instructions to the letter and would tackle all day he played a prominent part in the fight against relegation in 2004, operating on the left hand side of midfield. This led to his inclusion in the Republic of Ireland squad but his breakthrough was short lived and he was once again forced to go on loan in order to experience first team football. Ultimately this resulted in him joining Leeds, where he became captain but failed to prevent the team dropping to the third tier of football.  After retiring he became a football  agent.
