  1. What is most concerning is that Hughes said wewere the better team and DESERVED the win. What game was he watching? We looked ###### poor from the off, and totally lacking in ideas. Injuries has without doubt played a big part in this, but I just hope Hughes doesn't GENUINELY believe we were the better team /good tonight. It was like watching the first half vs the Geordies all over again, and we were lucky their finishing was so bad. I really, really hope Hughes is slating them for that display and that was just for the cameras what he said. This display WILL not suffice in the premiership.
  2. Last night was one of the most inept performances I have seen. Looked like we couldn't be arsed half the time. The rest of the time we gave the ball away needlessly, lacked ideas passion and commitment. Having heard reports of how crap Charlten were at Sheff Utd, surely this was a chance for us. But oh no Rovers as they always do surrender to a team that "needs the win more". Why do we always do this?? West Ham, I knew we'd get beat! Christ they had like 8 defeats in a row.....don't worry here's Rovers in town to help you out! Same with Charlton. When is it we play Watford away??? Cause they'll need a win, and we'll probably surrender there too. Bentley has been terrible ever since someone told him he was having a good season. Pedersen, nuff said already..... Brad, although he made a few saves WHAT IN GODS NAME WAS THAT WALL ALL ABOUT?? That's 2 things we have confirmed as a result of last night's game. 1) We are always there to gives struggling teams a hand for 3 points. 2) We always concede goals form free kicks. Ooijer says it was a good free kick! My arse! The wall was a disaster and they have to take collective responsibility for that. And another thing how much fannying about do we do in defense! Christ sake man. We need Nelsen back PRONTO. Otherwise we are relegation fodder. Don't give me all this crap about the game being played on a Tuesday, it is too close to Saturday's game. That doesn't wash wish me when Wenger & Benitez say it, and so it doesn't wash either when Hughes says it. They are professional footballers getting paid a bucketload that train every day to compete in matches.
  3. A few clips from Feyenoord the other week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxwAh57HBgA
  4. Might seem like a daft question, but anyone know if there is a fans game organised for this trip???
  5. Even when we fkn get them FK sake Embarasing dont cut it CHRIST 2 stikers MISSING penalties.....bloody disgraceful
  6. It always seems to happen against them. Diouf conning for a pen the other year, and 2 pens not given this year.... The off the line incedent could go either way but the game is abogey
  7. Diouf is a complete tosser. Dives about and gets a pen....crunches Brett and gets away with. Typical. A complete arsehole.
  8. I took some photos - Not great though. The video clips were better! With the "s**t ground no lights" chant when the lights went out! MY BRIEF REVIEW OF SALZBURG GAME (I really must call them RED BULL Salzburg, due to the ridiculous over-commercialisation of their team. (How American is that!!!) - But their traditional home kit is PURPLE is it not?? Not their away kit. Imagine the blue & white halves were axed??? Man of the match by a country mile was Tugay. He absolutely ran the show. One of the best games I've seen him. He was involved in everything! +'s 1) Tugay, as above! Either the instruction was "just give it to Tugay!" or else the rest of the team just felt comfortable passing it to him..who knows! 2) Savage had an impressive game, and prompted a comment to me by a Salzburg fan "who is your number 8? We really like him" ......now how many away fans say that of Mr Savage!! What a free kick, I was shocked!!! Put the camera away at that point casue I thought: "It's Savage. There's no way this is goin anywhere!!" 3) Brad - A few important saves and a solid showing. - Like the "he's got big hands" chant!!!. Lets hope he gets through to Zurab next time when there is no danger and the ball should be his! 4) 2 AWAY GOALS!!! -'s 1) Benni - Quoted as saying the best is yet to come. I bloody hope so! Ok he was a lone striker and neither Pedersen nor Bentley's supply was up to much but is he fully match fit? HE seemed to lack sharpness and WHY OH WHY WAS HE NOT CHASING EVERY BALL, EVERY PASS BACK TO THEIR KEEPER! Their Keeper (as has already been mentioned on here) was hopeless! And although certainly not as naturally gifted or clinical, a certain Mr Dickov (or Kuqi for that matter) would have made the keeper pay! 2) Bentley - Ok they kicked him everytime he got the ball almost! But a poor game nonetheless, gave the ball away a lot. 3) Gallagher - Ok a new role, but can do better than that. I'm glad he's in our squad but always seems to more effective coming off the bench. 4) Defence without Admiral - Although Zurab and Ooijer did ok, no Nelsen in there is a concern. Hopefully Oojer will improve, and I do rate Zurab! 5) We should have buried them in the 1st 30 mins of the second half. We just didn't look hungry enough to go for a third, and ultimately their last 10 mins onslaught brought them a deserved goal (after hitting post twice). Although we should have been out of sight by then - arrrrrrgh!! Salzburg is a really lovely city. It is really clean, the folk are friendly, and I just hope not to much damage (EITHER WAY) was caused by incedents in the Shamrock & O'Malley's bars in the centre of town. I didn't come across any trouble, but then my hotel was 10 mins walk from the ground and not need to get in that "sardined up" shuttle bus!! Scotty! Having just posted my review I note your prior one! (Didn't see it before I posted mine!! Can't believe how many similar things you noticed!!!!!!!!!!
  9. What time does the game in Salzburg kick off (Austrian time)???? How far is the Stadium from the airport? And does anyone know if you can get easy transportation from the airport to near the stadium???
  10. The fact they have Ian Wright on shows a lack of respect for the other nations in the competition. You are watching analysis of the DUTCH match, you expect discussion about the DUTCH MATCH! FFS!! Not to say Robben had a blinder and 30 seonds later start goin on about how England are doin this hat and t'other! Lineker should be a pundit no more. Wright shouldn't even get a look in. That guy from Sky Jeff Sterling is the best front man out there bar none.
  11. What a complete and utter tit this guy is. Now for starters we have had is England this and England that RAMMED down our throats for weeks now, but this guy takes the biscuit. I can respect that it is hard for English presenters to be impartial (and I include Hansen in that - cause he right loves England!!) but Ian Wright is just a bawbag commoner. "I just don't care about all the other nations, just England, who cares about the rest of em." I think the covergae has been EVEN WORSE this year than before I mean how many times do they mention that year in the sixties?? Is it really necessary for the neutral viewer to hear chat about ENGLAND during EVERY other game in the tournament? I can expect the odd mention here or there obviously, but BBC have now got worse than ITV for employing such idiot thug tits like Ian Wright. Lineker is obviously totally biased too, but isn't in your face like Wright. In summary - Lawro is a godsend to the world of punditry by comparison to Wright.
  12. It ain't Walker!! If it were I'd be forking out a few bob to help Rovers! So anyone know of any pubs that would show the F1?? I know its a bizarre question, but it'd be good to know!
  13. This may seem an odd question but will any pubs near Ewood be showing the FORMULA 1 prior to kick off for the Man City game? Dunno how many folk here are into GRAND PRIX etc, but really fancy watchin it pre-match! I know all the games are due to kick off at 3, so it wouldn't clash with a 12.45 Sky game for instance.
  14. Ya dancer!!! Great win, after a BIG dip in form! We were superior big style today against a strangely despondant Charlton side. Good luck to Mr Curbishly btw, a gentleman and a true positive for the game that we lack in many characters today.Wished we'd scored more cause we had the chance today to do so and they were very stand off-ish and down the flanks we should have taken em to the cleaners. Would have liked to have seen Sergio P cme on for the last 10 to do his shizzle down the left!! May have brought us one more. GD all important with the Geordie B's nippin us close! Best performance since Spurs at WHL, and like first Premiership win in London since god knows!!! Tugay huge + today! So too Reid, who has got better as the season has went on, and I'm defo not his number 1 fan!! Lets not get too much into the debate over MGP's dive. I've seen fr worse this year from eejits like Joe Cole, Drogba, Robben, Reyes, Pires, Ronaldo, Sergio Garcia, Jens Lehman.....but to name a few! Good news that Mr Rooney is injured! As I am a Scottish Rovers fan hoping England get gubbed at the World Cup! Although you do have a class bunch of players even without Rooney (who will probably recover anyhow)....and the fear is there! COULDN'T HACK ENGLAND WINNING THE WORLD CUP, WE'D NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT FOR ANOTHER 40 YEARS!!! Mon the Rovers, get it up ye England!!!!!
  15. I cannot beleive how much we've chucked it. The game againsst Big Club was clearly won they were going to win. You just know it as one that they are up for they need to win and all that. Champions League! We'll almost certainly not even get in Uefa now. Charlton away - we'll lose that and then Chelsea!!! Fk ske. We've shot ourselves in the foot big style. I wouldn't say we've been unlucky this season, not at all. Except the games aagainst the Scouse home and away, Todd sent off, etc...In many games we've been dire like Sunderland away. What a disappointment this is looking like now.
  16. Yes, but to be fair Charlie Nich has been fair to us on a lot of times I remember this season, unlike some other pundits I do think he likes us. Lets be honest though it was always likely to come in this game - and they were always going to beat WBA. Just a sickener than it was on half time. We need Everton to take at least a point or else our focus tomorrow will be soley on the UEFA.
  17. MGP against fulham! If you take account of the whole move. We battled to win the ball back with a great tackle and a couple of neat passes later, an excellent cross and a stunning volley! Reid against Wigan is up there too as I was like front row behind the goal for that one and it would have taken my head off but for the net!
  18. Re the World Cup - Are there tickets available (at a reasonable price) for group games? I'm thinking particularly for those in Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt. - Basically any non-England game, being a Scot an all that!! I've heard you can only purchase them from Fifa directly, but have had no word from them when I e-mailed. Anyone have any ideas for a contact number for them or any idea of availability??
  19. In order of Reid - Nelson - Friedel - Lucas stood out to some extent today (as some have already said). Certainly one of Reids better games and I don't rate him too highly!! Emerton has been given a chance and failed to deliver again! He's frustrating!! You just want him to take folk on. He HAS the ability to do it but no confidence at all. Tough position this right wing lark! Bentley didn't have too much of the ball we he came on either. Mokoena I feel just ain't better than reserve material. As soon as the subs were made we were nowt as an attacking threat and tried our best to lose the game in the last 10 mins with some silly fouls and possession gifts. Souness in, Souness in!!!! Was a humourous chant!!! Very good!
  20. A few thoughts after the game yesterday: BELLAMY - We see the best and worst of him. 2 well taken goals, and unlucky not to get a hat-trick with a great hit off the post - but another needless booking where he had NO CASE AT ALL. Mindless backchat, and also his winding up the Sunderland fans. I know I would go mental if Stead done it to us! Although he wouldn't. TUGAY - Good game last night, 2 balls to Reid / Peter (2nd goal) showed he still has that vision. Please take a shot though! He seems much better as a "home" player than an away. At WBA and Man Utd recentley was guilty of giving the ball away cheaply. - How do we solve this though! PEDERSEN - Notible by his absence and total lack of involvement. So inconsistant, although perhaps nursing an injury. REID - He was god awful tonight! He can only play off that wonder strike at Wigan for so long. I reckon he has improved, but has limited ok games among stinkers! TODD & GRAY have been poor of late also. Can Zurab play left back?!!! Even against a poor Arsenal side by their standards we WILL get found out if we play like last night. A welcome 3 points but if they were a good enough side and more clinical we could even have had nothing.
  21. Utter pish. Sinema and Emerton need to come on. Tugay has been a liability in recent games. Yards short, off the pace and lacking commitment.
  22. To the delightful tune of one Duran Duran number ;-) His name is Rio, he just doesn't understand A dirty 'Manc'y b****rd from a filthy land And when he shines he really shows you he'll go far Oh Rio Rio mind that shout from Van Der Sar
  23. Hows about this Friedel Neill Zurab/Todd Nelson Gray Emerton Savage Tugay Peter Kuqi Pedersen Subs: Enks, Todd/Zurab, Reid, Mokoena,Dickov (half time sub dependant on whats happenin!) Give Peter his chance and MGP up front...pehaps???
  24. The Wigan fans were certainly in better voice than the Liverpool fans at Anfield in October. They still uttered a few songs at 2 nil down before they all left. Obviously not to the festive spirit of "Jingle Bells" for which we were singing! Was this sung at Boro on boxing day too??? Fabulous!!! Super day out, and worth every minute of the trip down from sunny Glasgow! Some guy behind me, about 2 rows up from the front got lifted for celebrating our first goal! He done nowt wrong some of the stewards weren't sure what they were doing. He was escorted back 10 minutes later after rightly kickin up fuss! I am still to be convinced on Reid overall, although his absolute belter strike did harm his chances. It all happened so quickly, what a thunderbolt, and even the camera man almost missed it! I was most impressed with Gray and Bentley - probably the latters best game for us???. Zurab and Nelson are 2 contrasting defenders and this could work as a pairing given time. Bradley - 6, super save from Connolly near the end. Not looking as confident as he once was and was lucky to get away with one kick out. Neill - 7, solid as per most of this season Zurab - 8, almost matched the lightning quick Wigan front 2! Nelson - 8, tough and uncompromising! Just what you need! Gray - 9, One of his best games for us. Crucial clearence off the line, worked hard tracking back at 2 up, unlucky not to score. MOM Bentley - 8, possibly best game in Rovers shirt. Needs to keep it up though. Reid - 7, Absolute belter strike! The boy can strike a ball!! Savage - 7, Worked tirelessly again defensively, not the offensive threat he should be though. Pedersen - 7, Stunning goal, quiet though thereafter with patches of brilliance. Kuqi - 7, Got his head to most of the high balls, always working always looking for the ball! Dickov - 6, Good ball across for the first, unlucky on a volley straight at Pollet. Subs: Bellamy - 7, He clearly has the class, and right decision by MH on when to introduce him. Emerton - 6, Didn't have much time to influence but was crucial in the build up for the 3rd. I was impressed with his "lets get more goals" attitude while others were showboating! Dunno if anyone else noticed but the referee was quite impressive. This Clattenberg fellow has been applauded by several sections of the media, and its good to have an official that lets the game flow and isn't pernicity and stop start. Hope Lawro continues to predict the worst for us, if he predicts a Rovers win our luck may be out!
