  1. Very few of our players offer more than very little, while there are a few that offer less than even that.
  2. I'm not so sure the Cov result really does help us to be honest. We struggle against everyone, but we especially struggle to break down teams who sit back, which a tired side are more likely to do. They have nothing to play for, but in recent history Rovers only turn up if we have nothing to play for.
  3. Might be for the best for O'Riordan honestly. Him not playing means he can't be tainted with the stink that comes off of this squad at the moment, I would expect to see more of him next seasons, especially if we go down.
  4. Pears has that one game in 10 where he looks like prime Buffon, but in the other 9 he ranges from a steady championship keeper to a Sunday League bench player. Unfortunately, the latter almost always comes up in key matches where we're expected to do well, like yesterday. Was barely qualified to be on the bench when we signed him and should never have been a number 1 at this level. Whoever made the decision to keep him in (JDT or otherwise) last season needs to give their head a wobble.
  5. Honestly, there will be few left and even fewer who will fluorish. O'Riordan perhaps? It will be hard for an attacker to stand out in Euselessball.
  6. I guess the argument is less that the replacement would be ineffective, but more that he wouldn't have been replaced at all. I don't know what happened to Harry Leonard, but he'd have got a couple in the last month I'd have thought.
  7. Interestingly, though Hyam was also at fault, the first one to me is worse - because he keeps doing it. I can't remember who but someone posted a short video of I think 5 examples of howlers he has made this season, and 3 of the 5 were him thundering out of the box, heading it to the opposition and getting lobbed. Once is a mistake, three plus times is a pattern. I said at the time that Pears and Hyam shared the blame and I still stand by that assessment, if not more so now I've seen that clip.
  8. Well, he managed to grind out a result last week and then yet again when the impetus is on him he completely fails to deliver. 2 wins in 15, 0 wins at home with some abysmal football to boot. The "pragmatic" approach is fine is you're actually getting points but we're doing nothing to try to win. At this point he's basically Gareth Ainsworth with better PR.
  9. What a result does eh? I was fully accepting of going down after the Bristol game, and then conceded that the Leeds game would change things and then that happens. We desperately need Huddersfield to beat Brum now, but whether we go down or not there needs to be a massive overhaul in the summer - I'm struggling to think of 5 people (players or staff) who deserve to be here next season.
  10. One of two things happens here: 10% chance: We get battered and grind out a point or three 90% chance: Cov barely turn up, we also don't turn up, we gift them 2 or 3 goals without them having to bother.
  11. Ultimately the only person in the squad who deserves the captaincy in Sammie. The fact that he has to watch this clown lead the team out game after game and put in the performances he is doing must be killing him. The second Carter was back Hyam should have been dropped, but no one at this club has the cojones to do what is right for the club at any point.
  12. He's the best possible striker we could get for his wages and the £5m he cost us though, or so I've been told.
  13. We now have a huge problem - we now can't even rely on GD as a points buffer with Brum being the team in the bottom three with a currently equal GD. This teams ability to play up to the big teams but be completely and totally inept against poor teams needs to be studied.
  14. 100%. This is on the manager, this is on GB, SW and Venkys. Time and again we go for bargain basement or academy replacements to key players and time and again it bites us.
  15. And here lies the problem I just mentioned. Every goal we concede is an "individual error" which shields the manager from any criticism despite the fact that they're the ones setting up to create the environment that those mistakes happen.
  16. Hyam and Pears combo again, literally the Chuckle brothers - punt them both down to the reserves for the rest of the season. Pathetic.
  17. Another horror show at the back under Mr Hard to Beat One problem we have is that we have so many players with a clanger in them that both Eustace and JDT have been able to shield themselves with "individual errors" all season. Not good enough yet again and now we're going to be scrambling for points against Coventry and Leicester. Unbelievable.
  18. If Hyam is in a position where his only available option is to kick it into the stands, then it isn't an acceptable pass is it? Pears could just have easily headed it into the stands and the problem vanishes completely. Pears' decision making is awful at the best of times, he just gets away with it because he has a good game every so often and Wahlstedt wasn't ready. Though I agree that Hyam has had a few stinkers recently.
  19. Looked at the goal properly and to be honest, it's a clanger from Pears as well as Hyam there. Pears' "clearance" leaves Hyam with a player either side of him - he should have booted it into the stands but didn't and then Pears is way too slow back to his line. Neither of them should be starting next season.
  20. Sammie ahould be getting Hyam's wages too at this point considering how many times he bails him out.
  21. So we managed to get a good win last time out but this game is going to be a very different beast. The pressure is on and SW will have a big following behind them. That said, Wednesday have dropped off since Poveda got injured and we should be confirming safety this weekend with a win. Rovers 2-1 Wednesday
  22. Ultimately if the owners pull investment we will be relegated next season, so it's in their hands depending on whether they are serious or not. And on top of that you have the Waggott problem, who given his past and present should have been given his p45 long ago. It's going to be a long summer I expect.
  23. Disgraceful again but football is beyond saving in this country at this point. The top clubs all have owners who have paid billions and want to monopolise the sport in return for the investment and have for some time. The EFL absolutely needs to put their foot down, even if the effect is limited due to their diminishing power. There are so many "reforms" that would need rolling back to save football at this point. The subs rule, the changes to competitions to maximise European games and summer friendlies etc. The Premier League as a whole has done such unbelievable damage and the way they've stacked the money means that the rest of the pyramid would be left to go bust if they stand against them.
  24. We need a massive amount of investment in the summer. We can't keep relying on the academy to plug every gap in the squad - we've been incredibly lucky so far that we've had the quality to at least come in and do a job, but even that is starting to stretch a bit. Garrett needs some time in league one for me, and I'd rather the likes of Atcheson and Finneran should similarly be loaned to gain experience. Gilsenan to make the jump likely to the first team. We need a first choice keeper to challenge Pears, with Wahlstedt getting some time away from the club to gain confidence. The defence is arguably our strongest area providing everyone stays, but we should look to replace McFadz, and get a fullback or two to challenge for those spots and cover for the injury prone Pickering and Brittain. In midfield, another Sonny would be great, though Travis coming back may help there. We will need to pick up a link up player or two as well. Sammie will most likely be sold and if so we should absolutely be reinvesting because that sale alone could relegate us next season. For the wings, we badly need pace and to probably get rid of some of the deadwood in those positions - I would be looking to move Siggy along and possibly Markanday, though the latter has looked decent of late. Hedges and Dolan are very hot and cold. As for true forwards, where do we start? Gallagher can be moved on, but then what do we have? Leonard has disappeared off the face of the earth though he was promising when he was playing, Gilsenan can hopefully come in to do a job but you still feel we need a minimum of two experienced strikers coming in at the summer. We shall see in any case - I will expect nothing and anything else will be a bonus.
