I think my lack of interest can be summed up by the fact that, despite having followed every game of ours over the last 10 years, either in person, via stream or by radio, around 90 percent of those games have been erased from my mind. It's not an age thing, as if you were to ask me what happened against Derby in 1996 I'll tell you in detail off the top of my head. Random game, West Brom away 2002? Same. I'll even tell you what night it was on. Huddersfield away in 2018? Nope. Swansea at home in 2019? Nope. I couldn't tell you from memory. It has mostly been forgettable shite for well over 10 years.

I'll be honest, the only thing that keeps me interested are the memories of old and the faint hope (at present) that one day we might get back to something like what we were. The true Rovers, before these bastards took over. There isn't much about the last 12 years or the present day Rovers that has had me excited or positive about the future of the club.

The hope I retain is that we will start the road to recovery once this lot sell up. The day they sell up, it will feel like a huge weight has been lifted from the club. That day can't come soon enough.

The thought of that is keeping me watching, wishing, that somebody might fluke something for us until that point and have us in the Prem before the bastards decide they want out. I don't for one second expect them to shell out Premier League level transfer fees and wages, so hopefully that's the point they will clear off. I believe there will be interest in us as a Premier League club, a lot more than there is at present, IMO. We just need to get there, somehow.

To the neutral and the bitter rival it seems as though we are complaining because Uncle Jack is no longer around. I know, as I have had such remarks from them. They have no idea. They say "but you are third" and "but they've spent over £200m", "but they are still paying the bills". What we have lost over the past 12 years and the damage that has been done can't be put into words and goes beyond money. It will never be understood by outsiders. 1995 has nothing to do with the anger that has been felt since this lot turned up and ruined the club.

The very heart of the club, everything that made me proud about it has been thrown away in such a disgusting manner by people who have no interest in football and who, IMO, have no right being anywhere near the club. Desperado after desperado appointed in the dugout and in the boardroom, the club reduced to an unrecognisable, hollow shell.

Then we have insulting marketing from total losers lucky to be at the club. "We're committed, are you?" Committed to what? Brown nosing the idiots in Pune and telling us how difficult it is to compete? F.O!! Then you have that bastard in Marketing saying "there's nothing special about Blackburn Rovers". He's lucky this isn't Italy. It's making my blood boil just thinking about all of this.

The biggest problem for me is the lack of care. Nobody at the club, in a senior position, gives a shit. Excuses are made for mediocrity, excuses are made as to why we can't compete. A winning mentality seems to be frowned upon and expectations are played down in public. How do I then get excited, about what? Selling kids to the big clubs in 3 years time? Again, F.O!!

We're constantly being fed bullshit about a project. A journey leading precisely nowhere. Mowbray had five years and wasted them. This lot want three more, and think we can get there with Academy kids. It's a farce. A total farce. I'm sorry, I can't get behind any of it. Nothing against any fellow fan who is being optimistic and positive. That's fair enough, we're all trying to make the best of it, but I personally can't do it, even though I have tried. Not when I perceive the tossers at the top to be taking the piss out of us.

I still watch the Premier League, MOTD and all the rest of it, and it hurts to see the likes of Brighton, Brentford etc taking it to the big boys, as that's exactly what we used to do and more. We had it, but it was thrown away by idiots. We can all accept a natural decline, but not this bullshit.

What hurts even more, is realising that we aren't a normal club with any real aspirations of getting back there. We're just existing without genuine hope, whilst a new character is wheeled out telling us the owners want promotion. It's only us, the fans, who are truly fiercely ambitious and want the club to get back up. There's a huge void where there should be care, ambition and a board worthy of the name at the club, and that is what has killed and is killing the interest of many.

Well said and is almost exactly how I feel too. I almost feel guilt for introducing my 8 year old grandson to it. He goes to school in Preston and tells his mates Blackburn Rovers are the best!!!

Bonkers the amount of potential money we've let walk out of the door. And for what?

Only chance we have now, unless he's off to Spain in the summer, is a desperate Prem club like Everton or West Ham hitting the panic button and giving us £5+ and tempting him into the prem with silly money.

We invested so much money and time into him, the aim was always to make a profit on what we paid for him, surely? And yet we just let him walk for nothing but still complain about the restrictions FFP put on us 🤷🏻‍♂️

Whatever you do, if you receive a free ticket from the club, inviting you to a party at the brewery, shred it and pop it in the bin.

I must say I was genuinely surprised with your positive response to the first meeting as the image that is projected of Waggott is that of a lazy, incompetent buffoon that can spin a few good yarns.

He certainly seems to have taken a few in, but thankfully most still see through it. The best one was how good selling the training center would be, but there have been plenty more.

Agreed, and something that is suited best to the Championship level of scrutiny.

The rush to get there, the lack of real intent to get out, apart from getting out of the lower turnover of L1.

For every financial rule and regulation there has ever been or will be there will be "ways and means".

And we had the weeks long visit from 2 of the world top financial practices firms ... Not there to check the petty cash tin...although hopefully they did that too.

The only time they have shown any haste in getting rid of a manager, was when they appointed one, who managed to take us within striking distance of the third tier. Granted he did last less than a year, but after that, a streak of games with no win and a plummet down the league, seems to cement the manager place, rather than lead to a termination of his contract.

  5. Bob along nicely in the second tier. Wash whatever cash we can and that should keep us all nicely for a decade or two. If it ever looks like we are looking too good on the pitch, give a few players away for nothing and we will soon reverse that trend.

Not lets have a sift through the people who can make that happen, for the top to the bottom. Get them in, keep them there for 5 years or so and then move onto the next batch.

    Cushty.

Thanks for your responses. I'm really glad you went to the second meeting so you could get to see through the failed football agent conman.

These past years have sadly made me ultra cynical about most things Rovers so it is refreshing to see your detailed review.

What we all must NEVER forget is people like Waggott have all been appointed by Venky’s. When you look at the first set of people plonked into these positions, including their first manager, it is very clear that the badly advised narrative is not one that fans in the know will swallow.

I think almost everyone on here knows most of what has gone on, so the painful days like Saturday, just continue. The only real change is the people who are tasked with fronting it all.

Well that's was one hell of a change from

"Steve Waggott in person is not the same Steve Waggott we've heard in interviews, his passion, knowledge and general persona is probably the best I've seen from anyone within the club in my time, and that includes the Williams Regime. Although I'm only 5% through my questions for him, which I will pick up again in September, I can tell from my first meeting that my position/opinion on him prior to meeting him, has changed somewhat. I have been involved in lots of these type of meetings, and I don't go easy on people. I actually told him, this Steve Waggott is actually quite marketable. I can understand why many after meeting him are jumping to his defence, because I actually think with the right approach, he could become one of the most influential people the club ever has. There is evidently lots of work to do to rebuild, and a lot more questions I need to ask, but early signs I think are good for all of us"

Good though that there was a second meeting.

Is it a case of him seeing though his bullshit this time around. I have never met him and never will, bill do not get the impression we gave anyone but a wage thief at the club.

Mowbray went winless for SIXTEEN games and kept his job. Shouts for the sack are pointless.

It’s not a normal club or ownership, so today does not matter, so far as the owners and the manager are concerned.

No other club in the entire pyramid would allow a 16 game winless run and not say a peep to its loyal fans.

Two or 3 more heavy defeats in the next 3 gam a won’t matter either. Project Rovers, is a very strange concept, even to those who would run through a brick wall for the club.

Each to their own, but I don’t watch for the outcome. The outcome is something to hope for.

I certainly watch in the hope that we win and not in the hope that the performance of our players increase their value. When we lose I’m pretty down about it and the opposite when we win. I would hate to think that the players and management have other ideas other than  winning matches that inevitably leads to success if we win enough.

We 'interview' players now? That's not how things are normally done in the game is it?

'Where do you see yourself in 5 years?'

'Fucking off on a free transfer when my contract expires.'

It is probably a good job that the players don't actually say what they really think, most of the time. It could put the fans who genuinely love their club, clean off them immediately.

Would dropping down to 8th or 9th not be considered a huge disappointment and an unsuccessful season considering the position?

Last season we again rose near the top at this time of year despite much less optimistic expectations and the subsequent drop made things very toxic.

I think the same will apply this season, as applied last. Yes, we are exceeding expectations just now, but to drop to 8th or 9th is bound to been seen as unsuccessful now, as we will have thrown away a big opportunity.

I think this is the plan. But Mowbray and Waggot have a fair bit to answer for as well in terms of those players walking on frees. The previous regime has a lot to answer for. It strikes me that the plan was following that model, but like in any business or walk of life, words are cheap without a plan with tangible actions. Under the previous regime we wasted a lot of money on a bloated, unbalanced squad (Holtby, Downing etc) at the exact time that those assets should have seen their contracts renewed. The philosophy was not backed up by the people at Ewood, and the owners are too distant to question what was happening.

We've already seen many younger players with potential resale value given longer contracts and that's the evidence to me that JDT and GB are doing things properly. Brereton is the exception to this because of his contract situation which is in part down to a hangover from poor planning under Mowbray.

It is very promising that we are seeing the youngsters being tied down. I have to admit that I honestly thought Phillips would have gone, so it is a bonus to see him sign, especially when we seem him perform like he did yesterday.

Like most people on here, I simply want to see the club prosper and sincerely hope we have started to turn the corner with the contracts.

The next batch being Adam and Scott Wharton, Ash Phillips, Trav, Kaminski, Buckley not to mention new signings Hyam, Brittain that all signed deals on these insulting offers...?

Not too sure they were insulting offers, but maybe someone knows better than me on that. I have no idea what the amounts were. I have no inside information, but maybe some people do, but perhaps a rethink has now taken place, given so many have turned down previous contract offers.

If they refuse to sign contracts we aren't letting the contracts run down. They are.

    They were all offered contracts.

It hardly matters really, as we are being told that is the model to being sustainable.

They need to have a long hard look at what they are offering, as we are almost certainly going to see the next batch do exactly the same otherwise. Unless, I am missing something of course.

Repeated public criticism… the best one was when Mowbray really bitterly came out and said “He thinks he can play Premier League football one day… we’ll see.”

I’ve also been told specific examples about how both Raya and Nyambe were treated. I can’t elaborate on here and break a confidence, but they’d constitute work place bullying in any other environment. I know I can’t expect anyone else to take that as gospel, but I believe their treatment played a big part in their wanting to leave, along with their contracts.

It’s been said before that Mowbray did not always seem to act in the best interests of the club. Granted people on here do need to be careful about their source of information, but looking back at things like this, certainly has eyebrows being raised.

I don't think Wharton looks anything special. The fact he's lauded as our best CM shows how urgently we need reinforcements in that area.  He should be around the bench coming on making cameos cutting his teeth aiding his development. But I think he has a long way to go.  Look forward to seeing his progress but I'm not getting excited.  Seen Duff and Dunn come through the ranks and he's not in that bracket at the moment.

Each to their own, but I see a star in the making. He looks very special to me. His one goal so far was very classy and his debut was awesome.

He lined up yesterday in the first eleven team (so I was told, but the same applied for JRC), so between then and last night something has changed. Either a niggle or JDT didn’t think he was putting enough effort in.

I predict the latter. His attitude (if we’re to believe the rumours) is very laid back and confident and I don’t think that’s either appreciated, understood or liked.

Not too sure if Rich Sharpe is defending someone, but he has said on Twitter he isn’t 100%. Not said fit after it so could mean 100% frame of mind.
