  1. Strange thing - though Kaminski was better than what we have now - he wouldn't be in my top 10 keepers from my time watching Rovers (goes back to Howard Kendall era) - just shows how far we have dropped in the quality of our keepers.
  2. If we are trying to position ourselves as a development club for promising youngsters - we can't put too many blockers on players leaving providing our price is met. Where it all fell down is recruitment - we spent what was big money for us on Kaminski's replacement - showing a reasonable profit overall - how the deficiencies in Leo's game wasn't picked up is down to the scouting (unless he is struggling to settle in this country and ends up a world beater - we can but hope)
  3. It will be the worst couple of keepers I have ever known at Rovers in over 40 years, that will send us down. I appreciate without him we would already be relegated - but today Smodics gave away the ball that directly led to a goal and also missed a good chance to make it 2-2. I can't same I am optimistic, but I wouldn't be in the slightest surprised to see us beat Coventry next week.
  4. It was the spin that took it away from him. Bloody awful keeping though
  5. Given his age and ongoing commitment, I wouldn't begrudge him a Premiership move if it materialises. Not certain where it would leave Rovers - as we would have been relegated without him.
  6. Don't know what has happened to the player from last season. Possibly we start calling him Hyam-Diaz and he will rediscover his mojo.
  7. Though the performance obviously wasn't great - we were very much undone by Bristols best attacker Hyam. The way teams set up in the Championship it is difficult to come back from 1 goal, let alone 2. You also have to look at respective squad depth - they brought on 3 attackers - we struggle to start with 3 attackers. TBH until Hyam intervened I thought the match had become fairly even - with them having some early chances and then us getting a foot hold and creating chances of our own. After going 2 goals down - they defended in depth and just let us huff and puff. Without Hyam's nightmare - not certain how the match would have panned out. TBH we created their best chances. What really p@#£ed me off was the 5th - seeing their player run through unchallenged - while in the background Hyam jogged backed. For me summed up his match.
  8. I don't know why - but think we will get something today.
  9. Three reasons we may get relegated: Goalkeeping Refereeing Paperwork
  10. No way was Smozdics blocking keepers view - the ball went off their defender.
  11. Can't argue they are bad owners - but they have put in circa £20m a season. On the face of it they are heavily subsidising the club (even converting debt to shares) so unless they are really going to do an indepth analysis of our situation, will anything really change?
  12. I am interested as to the level of funding - enough to cover losses including or excluding Wharton fee - i.e. will we have a transfer fund this summer or will it be swallowed up to pay ongoing losses.
  13. I stand to be corrected - but I don't recollect JDT calling the owners or CEO in his first few weeks. All I remember is him going on about "the project". Regarding calling out the players - confidence is absolutely key in our position, especially with so little room to maneuver in the squad.
  14. Personally I am reserving judgement - I always thought JDT would be a tough act to follow. It took him over a year to drill into the players his method of playing - you can't change that quickly (especially when playing so many matches mid week). Also - not only did we lose Wharton - but his replacement Fleck lasted just 15 minutes and we also lost Tronsdat to injury. Our big money buy (relative) from Crewe doesn't seem to be trusted to start a match. If we get relegated, it won't be Eustace or JDT fault - the blame lies in India.
  15. I don't think they came for a point - and they nearly caught us with a sucker punch. Tactics we fall for time and time again
  16. I agree we have, on paper, a frightening run in. However timing is everything in this league - with lots of matches divided by fine margins. Millwall is a good example - a few matches ago a very winnable fixture - last night was against a team who had just beaten Southampton and Watford.
  17. I am probably the only one seeing any positives from last night. Millwall had come to put 11 players behind the ball - they rarely threatened apart from set pieces - a perfect match for Rovers to lose to a sucker punch. But we didn't, and despite injuries, numerous fixtures and extra time, illness in the camp we were able to come back for a well deserved draw. Perfect, obviously not, in trouble - definitely, the odd sign we may get out of this mess - I think so.
  18. Yeh, new manager is useless - he has had a full pre-season and not had his first choice midfield sold or injured.
  19. Superb job by Eustace last night - as you say - we will find out how good a manager he is now, picking players up to put in a performance after playing so many matches (+ overtime) in such a short space of time. Annoyed me listening to commentators moaning about the number of matches Newcastle have had to play this season. They want to try the Championship, with a wafer thin squad.
  20. We have been unlucky with injuries this season - but we desperately needed midfield cover before we lost Wharton. I just hope and pray that Tronstad isn't out for too long - or that could seal our fate.
  21. Keep the lad - pulls up with ACL.....hmm. As we know with Dack, it's a balancing act.
  22. Anyone think that Buckley could be our poor man's Wharton ? TBH he has had spells where he looks like he is progressing and could fullfill a similar role - but similarly has had periods where he is totally out of his depth.
