  1. Just booked my hotel, North Star (so not only am I on the same flight as Jordan, I'm in the same hotel too !).

Hopefully I'll sort some match tickets tomorrow !!!!!

Lucky you glenn i thought these things only happened to Modi

At least there's no chance of bumping into you in ireland, 'cos I'm not going.   I have a horrible feeling about Blackpool though.   :unhappy:

  2. I didnt think we sang songs for McAteer

    "He's here, he's there, he's every <expletive deleted> where, McAteer."

    or

    "There's only one dodgy scouser."

You must have been asleep at the time.

  3. Jordan - You could try www.1stdublinhotels.com/

Prices though are in Bloody Euros.  As Abbey would say - Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Should be out on the lash by midday.

    Have a good time.

Will you be dipping your tight Yorkshire hand into your pocket for a change?

    :<img src=:'>

Jordan is not tight.....at all. Yorkshire people are the best type of people :p  :D

So at last, after joining 6 months, silent Gemma speaks up.

Now if I didn't know better, I'd say Gemma was either Joe's girlfriend standing by her man, or perhaps Joe has done a Danny Le Rue impression....   :p

  4. Finally, remember Thenodrog, when refered to as a lunatic, "anyone who is remotely interesting is mad in someway or another."    :)

You are quite right Modi.  I'm not so much mad as bloody livid!

I may be controversial,  I may be abrasive, blunt, aggresive, I may be accused if sarcasm and using heavy irony, I may be lots of things but I rarely insult anybody directly EXCEPT in retaliation, which was the case on here, both with Paul McGarry and Jim.

I'm sure that you have read theguidelines on more than one occasion (in fact you might well have written them) but please peruse them again and tell me on what grounds and why Paul issued yet another yellow.  Nowhere in those guidelines is there any reference to questioning the impartiallity of the mods......also read em again and tell me why the initiators of the personal insults got off scott free.  The continuing silence of Jim (who should, if he had anything about him, have cleared all this up by issuing an apology) speaks volumes about his character does it not?  But then again he must be tainted by working in an industry that apologises for absolutely nothing without there being threat of legal action.

When you have done all that then please investigate the second yellow card and you will find that yet again the perpetrators of personal insults as well as posters palpably guilty of breaking those board guidelines seem able to get off scott free of any disciplinary measures.

Maybe then you may detect a certain bias from this boards equivalent of Graham Barbour.

I am not particularly in favour of this board being heavily censored but I am in favour of it being fair and even handed in it's treatment of all members.

I don't want to seem like I'm ducking an issue, but I'm not in any position of note on this board, I'm just a member like you.  My current status as 'news/editor' was purely a means to allow me to have direct access to various Mods during the run up to the get together as I was helping organise things.

I didn't have any hand in writing the guidelines, nor am I massively aware of what they say, because I've not read them in their entirety; I just assume that what I do on the board is within the parameters, otherwise I'd be yellow carded.

So the on-going debate between you and some of the Mods really isn't any of my concern, other than the fact I'd like us all to get along.   Not always agreeing - but at least respecting everyone else.  It's nearly new year, can we all try?  I'll even forgive Jim for telling me to 'bugger off' as he did a few weeks back.  (See he has a go at everyone.)

  5. And should I be pleased or upset to come second to a complete lunatic? Or is that me being controversial again?

Wise up Jim.  For 'controversial' read 'most disliked and detested' and you'll not be far off the truth.  Whilst I am 'easy' about that fact and dont subconsciously seek or need universal acclaim or appraisal it seems that you are having problems realising just how much the other posters dislike you.  Did you have an unhappy childhood by any chance?

PS You dont have to answer that of course.  Hope you win next time.......

Oh dear, the Groobies were meant to be a bit of fun, a chance for regulars to acknowledge the contributions of others, and a bit of self congratulation for all members to recognise that this site remains by far the best Rovers messageboard on the internet.   Remember that people, please.

As for 'controversial' meaning 'most disliked and detested', a few facts that hopefully won't be seen as revealing information on a secret ballot:

    1.  A few people did ask if 'controversial' meant 'deliberatly annoying'.   I replied it meant whatever anyone thought it to mean.

    2.  Gordon received more than one set of votes across a range of topics - eg most controversial and funniest - not likely to happen if everyone hates him.

    3.  I received a comment that said they wouldn't vote for Gordon as controversial, as his football comments are generally reasoned and they think of ICBINF as secondary importance.

If the Groobys are run again next year, and after the pains of this time I'm certainly not keen on doing them, then I suspect Controversial might have to be dropped.

Finally, remember Thenodrog, when refered to as a lunatic, "anyone who is remotely interesting is mad in someway or another."    :)

  6. Modi thanks for your efforts.  Oh and that 'innocent' spelling mistake......is it a minor one or have you made a 'genuine mistake'  by spelling Thenodrog as 'Aggravating Tawt' or similar?

Although I expect that when Revidge passes on the award you'll think that it is all a part of a massive conspiracy, I can assure you that it wasn't.   I've checked a copy of the document I gave to the engravers and what I gave them was correct, so the error was theirs and unless they come on here, I reckon it was just a genuine mistake.  Unfortunate, but genuine.

It's only one letter in the middle of your name...

  8. 1.  Didn't care much for the Celtic fans totally ratted at the bottom of Livesey Branch Road at just turned 1800, using just about every swear word to any passing Rovers fan - some of the young kids were terrified - first time I've seen young girls have to grab hold of their dad for protection at a footie match.

    2. Didn't care much for the Celtic fans who abused me and a mate for having the audacity to not sell our tickets to them.

    3. Didn't care much for the Celtic fans sat just in front of me in the JW, who decided smoking in a no-smoking area (especially in the present situation) was a good idea.

    4. Didn't care much for the same Celtic fans who then hurled abuse of a most interesting variety at me for several minutes after I asked our friendly steward (John who is excellent, superb person skills, a Scot, and a Celtic fan at heart alongside Rovers) to have a quiet word with them regarding the smoking.   Some of the insults were clearly not true as my Dad was sat next to me.

    5.  Didn't care much for the Celtic fans around us who put fear of god into the 6 year old in front of me with their boorish attitude.    Thankfully some of them left at half time, and the others mor or less shut up when we actually had a police presence for the last 45 minutes.

Apart from that, no real complaints about the "world famous good natured fans".

  9. PABBY, I'd say you owe around 16000 Season Ticket holders an apology for that insult. Words fail me....we are amongst the clubs most loyal supporters and those LEAST likely to act in this way. Are you aware any ST holder selling on a Celtic ticket faces losing their ST?

Perhaps a backlash from that Citah game where it was obvious that a lot of STH's had actually sold on their tickets for large amounts of money.

As this is not the last game of the season it hopefully won't happen, but from that particular event someSTH's preferred their wallets to a sense of honour to Rovers.

Personally i think the city thing has always been something of a myth, the city fans who where in away sections, were actually accomadating parts of the ground where rovers fans never sat that season.

I take it that was intended as a joke?

  10. Interesting that the non-local fan is trying to make his voice heard (viz MarkBRFC, Glen etc).  I too live 60+ miles away, so the mileage I put in for home matches and about half of the away matches a season probably accounts for more than Blackburn residents who go to all away matches.   Does the club take this into account?   Nah, course it doesn't; it'd be nigh on impossible to have a system that rewards total mileage.

And what about the youngsters who travel from afar?   This board's  Martin lives in Scunthorpe and has had a season ticket for three years and he's not 18 yet.   A couple of seasons ago he hardly missed an away match, let alone a home one.   Then there's Jordan who has been travelling from Harrogate to EVERY match home and away for the past few years, and he only turned 18 this year.

Some mean feat for individuals who don't have (or haven't until recently in Jordan's case) the option of driving.   At least in Jordan's case he can leave the letter behind on Saturday and get a ticket as he went to Sofia.   Martin won't be so lucky, he's got to gamble alongside the rest of us.

I know I'm rambling, but the point I'm making is whatever allocation system is employed will be deemed unfair by some.

Consider this: is a 35 year old living in Feniscowles earning £28k a year, who goes to most away matches 'more committed' and 'more worthy' of a ticket, than a 17 year old season ticket holder from Lincolnshire who earns a few quid working in the local cinema and gets to less away matches?
