Premier League 23-24

Tell you what I give you a load of stick when I think you are wrong but think you are spot on on this one. Incidentally my first football game on the computer (Amiga which shows my age) had a European super league mode. Interestingly no more than 2 teams per league and there were a lot of good European teams who wouldn't get near the CL quarters now - Malmo, Bordeux and Benfica to name three. -

If this was back in TMs day then would be all over it. But think he was mooted as a replacement for Mulgrew early on in the "defenders are coming" saga. So it's at least 3 or 4 seasons ago. Since then he has declined somewhat after a couple of nasty injuries. -

Let's be honest we are safe. No way are all the clubs below us picking up enough points to overtake us. And thats assuming we get no more points too. -

Disagree. Greed made the Premier League a glass ceiling environment. They reap what they sow. Delighted the more predictable 1 team race it becomes. -

See that's the issue right there, separate to what you mean (which i agree with btw.) SS has had to replace BB, AA and Rothwell. He's a great player but he isn't three players. -

You may be deligjted/indifferent/disappointed to know I made it out of the pub alive. Game of 2 halves for me. First half I thought was very poor. Gave the ball away far too cheaply and offered nothing going forwards. Second half Leeds up their game and their attacks but we defended better and actually offered stuff going forwards. This relieved the pressure on our defence significantly and caused some threat. In fact we had a few good chances and only some excellent defending stopped us taking the lead earlier. Great goal, well taken and cracking assist. Also on their pens given they were throwing themselves to the floor and falling theatrically at every point - including one penalty appeal - that must have worked against them. Brought the lack of pens, especially on the debatable one, on themselves. Bamford is a self entitled pillock. Bit more application and he might be a third of the player he thinks he is. Overall stuck one to Leeds and staying up. -

They are getting desperate. They really seem to be buckling mentally from a frustrating first half. Not sure they have a plan B. -

A bit better from Rovers and Leeds seem to be running out of ideas. -

Indeed. But unless we offer a bit more we are likely to concern and struggle to get back into it. -

Fortunate to get to half time at 0-0. Leeds struggling with final ball. Problem is they only need 1 goal and we are sunk -

It's getting more dangerous. If Leeds find their final pass we are in trouble. Too much giving the ball away cheaply. Too many silly fouls -

I'm no Martin possession fanatic but we give it away far, far too cheaply. -

Good thing about living in Leeds is I found a place in no time to watch it. Bad news, surrounded by Leeds fans. -

That was my worry too. I kept looking for an extra midfielder in that line up then realised there wasn't one. -

Yes. It would be mistaken for one of our defenders. -

Fair point. Perhaps zero impact is a little harsh. I should say less impact than I would expect and not a lot of a new manager bounce. (Mind you beating our clown manager is a low bar and no indication of quality.) -

Huddersfield and Brum for me. Whilst I really rate Rowett he's had zero new manager bounce so far. Both teams probably won't get a win meaning we will get to safety by default -

I think the squad is very weak as others have said. The problem is players who previously were solid back ups are now essential first teasers. The goal keeper situation is embarrassing. Hyam reminds me of Dann in that he's a fair weather player - good when the team is, bad when they aren't. Not what you want in a captain. Lack of experience doesn't help.nor does zero squad depth. It means useful players who either the specific game doesn't suit or are having a bad day have no one to replace them (thinking of Dolan in particular here.) . What makes this doubly annoying is you don't need much quality to stay in this division or even make a charge for playoffs - look at us and Millwall and Coventry last season, or that even this year we probably won't be relegates. Yet we run with a barebones squad devoid on experience and quality. -

My big issue is him saying we have been fantastic. After sitting through a number of managers spouting utter lies as the club is neglected and abused I have no stomach for another. Also its so far from reality ita has to see him as anything but a puppet. Fantastic? Harder to beat, upturn in form the last few weeks maybe but clearly anything but fantastic. He'll keep us up by virtue of other teams being rubbish and think he's great, but in fact he is the luckiest Rovers manager I know to have such a low bar for "success" -
They have done fantastically well to get back in the mix given they were miles behind and have off field issues. All that said, despite their good form it's still not been enough to get them out of the relegation zone and they have a horrific goal difference. Also they were battered recently 6-0, forget who by so there's a fragility in there. They're still up against it imo to avoid relegation, especially with 5 games left.

When did Brum last get a point? Think they are most likely to go down. It's the same as before but a round of games less. A heroic effort yer Sheff Weds are in the bottom 3, Plymouth still not beaten a championship level team, Huddersfield continue to fold in games. Bit surprised Millwall won as thought they were getting dragged back into it but can't see the other three teams mentioned overtaking us. One win and we are fine. A few draws probably will be enough
