  1. Can I make a suggestion folks. Can anyone who did see anything of a racist nature contact the club? or the police. From what I can tell on here the vast majority of people do not condone racist behaviour - please let us be seen to be a club who deal with things promptly.
  2. I would respectfully suggest that you view the footage on either sky Sports News, or quite probably as the lead story on the national news this evening.
  3. I agree with Roverite, I have sat in various places in the BBE since it opened and missed around 50 games in that time. I have never heard or seen a racist comment before.
  4. With all due respect to the Chief Constable I would have thought that they would have had much more important things on their plate this week. What with reports of a £7million budget shortfall and the likelihood of less police officers next year. Still if he thinks he has time to deal with what can only be referred to as a relatively minor, isolated incident, who am I as a member of the tax paying public to question that?
  5. It was a ROMA scarf he was wearing. Nothing to do with Burnley, and the issue at hand here is how do we deal with OUR racist fans. EDIT - Kick Racism out of football have issued a statement on last nights incidents, which seems to be a far more measured response than from Jims colleagues in the gutter press. It was possibly a Roma scarf, after watching the footage yet again (coupled with my own memories of last night). I'm not 100% sure it is now. It sure as hell wasn't Claret And Blue though (which was the point Ste was trying to get across). It was definitely a ROMA scarf. The comments above are correct in that he was a young male (possibly 17/18?) lashed out of his mind.
  6. As I said earlier I had a bit of a run in with him just before the half time whistle - he was stood just behind the beer bar in the concourse waitinf ro his mates to come back from the bar - he started chanting something along the lines of "lets go f****** mental" as the third birmingham goal went in. He got some greif from half a dozen people and he started gobbing aff about supporting the team before being removed by his mates who apologised for his actions. Well mate, if you are reading this - some supporter you turned out to be.
  7. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/LIST.ASP?HLID=239344 Common sense - will it prevail? Nah - it doesnt sell newspapers
  8. Ah yes, he gave me some grief - or tried to, then hios mates apologised and dragged him off!
  9. Its the lead story on GMTV news. Great.
  10. The FA have just announced an investigation into recent allegations that todays referee, Mark Clattenberg, awarded Blackburn Rovers FC a penalty kick in this afternoons encounter at the City of Manchester Stadium. If the allegations are correct Mr Clattenberg faces suspension from his duties.......
  11. Burberry is still very much part of GUS - owned by the Barclay Brothers , who I'm sure are intent on world domination... GUS own two thirds. The other third is listed on the stock market. Way off topic though!!! Too true...... .......nowt to do with a nutty choccy bar? Ouch!

  13. I could have sworn my post was esentially agreeing with you - I could see the thread turning into a "should standing be allowed" thread. again. Ho hum
  14. You don't no because u weren't there so don't comment. So people arent allowed to comment on specific issues because they werent there? Bizarre. It appears that a minority of Rovers fans on Saturday went out of their way to have a pop at the local constabulary, the stewards and other rovers fans. That is totally unacceptable. The standing issue is a red herring and people shouldnt get dragged into it again. Bottom line, we all go to football to enjoy it (which is hard enough sometimes with our lot!) and we dont need muppets to get in our way, shout the odds, be generally aggressive (all of which it seems happened)
  15. Anyone fancy meeting for a few scoops pre match? We are flying down on Friday night and making a weekend of it (Thanks to my airmiles!)
  16. Just been consolidating my programme collection and noticed that I have a number of duplicates. So.... Anyone who wants copies of programmes from the Full Members Cup final 1987 v Charlton vs West Ham circa 1980 vs Qpr circa 1981 Ill get exact dates when I get home please PM me.
  17. That could well be interesting. Friedal Todd---Short---Nissa ---- Mceveley. Nice. And Thommo played 75 minutes for the reserves last night so id guess by the end of the month he should be in contention.
  18. Personally I thought Neill was appalling yesterday. His tackling has been his redeeming feature recently but his positioning was poor yesterday, his distribution was shocking, his awareness of what was going on elsewhere was none existant. What on earth has happened to this man?
  19. No, I don't just object to scousers.. in fact some of my best friends are scousers. So what was the problem? Perhaps something to do with away fans in a home area with the potential for all the resulting aggro that would cause?
  20. I did. Yup good result, after those humiliating defeats I think a well-fought 2-2 draw with an on-form Liverpool side isn't a bad result. One thing worries me though, after that slight guff from McEveley and apparantly Matteo due to start until he failed a fitness-test..... So expect Dominic back in the starting line-up for the next match....*sigh* I think the key word is slight. I thought for the rest of the game Jay was pretty damn good. Nissa and Short also looked very solid at centre half - certainly more so than Amo and Matteo. All in all I think the majority of yesterdays team played more than well enough to keep their place at Norwich. I would just like to see a left winger playing on the left. Just once, either of them.
  21. Right, Today I spent two and a half hours with Stuart Caley at the ground. I want to go on record to Thank him for his time, and for the information he shared with me. OK, a number of points to raise as a result of my own queries and observations and those of others. Flags - the club have no specific hard and fast rule regarding their flags - there are a number of places they cannot be placed, unfortunately at Ewood the "best" place (ie over the barriers at the exits) is taken up by both a sponsorship hoarding and most importantly an emergency exit signs. Despite the fact that EVERYONE knows where the exit is there is legislation in place that these must not be covered. HOWEVER, The club are more than happy for flags to be placed anywhere not blocking the safe access and egress to the ground or covering sponsorship hoardings. An example of a suitable place would be over the every increasing empty seats. The most pressing issue. Standing. I brought up the "Stand Up, Sit Down" campaign. The club are aware of the campaign and also of their proposals, however, at this stage all Premier League clubs are not commenting specifically and the Football Licensing Authority are about to commence discussions. I asked what BRFC's reponse would be if the FLA recommended that "safe standing" areas are acceptable. Stuart stated quite clearly that he could not speak on behalf of the club, however they were led by FLA recommendations. Regarding the issue of the feeling that away fans are treated different and that the same action is not taken with them as it is with us. This is true. The fans all receive a letter with their match tickets (similar to the one given out with match tickets for high profile games) it outlines the clubs policy on standing. There is also posters on display inside and outside the ground. The club is now required to report the bahviour of both sets of fans to the FLA after every PremierLeague game - the FLA is currently reducing away allocations to those clubs who persistantly stand. Aston Villa having recently been on the end of such a reduction at the Valley. The problem for Blackburn Rovers is that we actually do not want this to happen for a number of reasons, financial, and the fact that away fans would then be more likely to buy tickets in home areas. The Stewards. I raised the issue of problematic stewarding. For me this was the biggest issue. I firmly believe that some of the stewards actually make the situation worse rather than helping it. To support my argument I gave Stuart 15 pages of extracts from various threads of this forum where people cite stewarding as a reason for not going to matches, Stuart felt that this was being over stated, my response was that perhaps it was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Fans are disgruntled with the on-field events but the off-field aspects were the final straw. Stuart has assured me that all the stewards are about to start a number of training courses on aspects of customer services. There may also be some slight changes to the siting of certain stewards. I was also given a tour of the facilities at Ewood, the control room in the Darwen End, amongst other places. Whilst we still would seem to have fundamental differences on the issue of standing itself, I do feel better for having voiced my concerns to the clubs. Especially my fears for this saturday. Stuart has also said that their office door is always open for fans who want to discuss this (or any other issue) and I have said that I will return at some point later in the season with an update from the fans perspective. The one thing we did agree on is that the Blackburn End was noisier than it has been for some time in the closing minutes of the Boro game and that it would be great if that noise would be carried forward into future games to support the team. I am sure that I have missed some things out from our discussion, and if anything comes to me I will post it seperately.
  22. I think you are correct Ricky, but as the club 'boss' perhaps he is the best person to have some influence over certain others?
  23. When was the last time either of those clubs failed to sell out their home fan areas for a league match?
  24. Just printed it before I read this. Unfortunately it is the way a good few thousand fans feel. Following on from preston blue's comments I am the same - we are really struggling to find babysitters for stuwilky 2 and stuwilky 3(because of the stupid kick off time), and I actually dont care.
