  1. Encouraging that Hughes name has not yet been mentioned among those to take the seat being kept warm by this season's equivalent of Les Reed - but give it time.......
  2. The Lazy Lardarse can now forget about any January move to Chelsea so perhaps the possibility of earning an extended contract here might change his abominable attitude
  3. Cruciate tear is easliy detected by a "draw" test.
  4. Jeffers has a long history of groin injuries and surgery going back to Everton days. Presumably this is yet another recurrence. Don't hold your breath about his return. Never has a player managed to spin out a top class (and top paid) career for achieving so little. The Guardian spoof on the January transfer window earlier this week ended with Jeffers being unveiled as the blockbuster last-day signing. Said it all really.
  5. 2 points ahead of Boro whose next 5 games include 2 against hapless, hopeless Charlton (though we deservedly lost to them 2 weeks ago) and a clash of potentially monumental proportions at Ewood. Rapidly reviving Wham also have a sequence of winnable games. So the New Year could well see Rovers looking down on only the doomed Charlton and Watford. Then January fixtures include Arsenal and Chelsea. Things are likely to get worse - much worse - before they possibly start trying to close a sizeable gaps on the teams above. What is the cause for optimism or at least the evident complacency about the transfer window? It cannot come from recent performances. Dreadful at Charlton and in the first against both Newcastle and Reading.
  6. Jeffers is noted as having a "groin strain" and has already made one abortive comeback. Any chance this is the same problem(it was a groin problem) that sidelined him season after season him at Everton and caused him to be unfit for most of his time at Charlton? Otherwise the striking partners for Benni (and Heaven help us if he gets injured!) are Roberts (injured) and Nonda (useless).
  7. Virtually every other Prem club with an Academy is producing regular first team players. Clearly Rovers scouting network is failing.
  8. Just back. An utterly pathetic inept performance that had relegation written all over it from first minute to the miserable last. If Nonda ever plays in a Rovers shirt again then Hughes is an absolute muppet. My granny could run faster and put in more effort. McCarthy scarcely any better. No pace anywhere in the team. Total inability to beat an opponent in wide positions. Gallagher shocking - get rid to the fizzy pop league asap.Peter no pace can't beat an egg. Bentley suicidal passing in midfield. Emerton back to his dumb ways, clueless and running inside. Friedel magnificent but then we knew that already.
  9. Will the missing players return in time if at all this season?. Already peesimistic noises about Nelsen - and his injury is ceratinly a very serious and unpredictable one. Reid has a stress fracture of a vertabrae which may well take longer than expected to recover from. As for Roberts well he is unproven as a goal-scoring Prem striker - only 10 in 65 appearances in this league. Plus other injuries can be expected ti take out other players. Fact is the squad of useful playrers is too small - an aspect that simply must be addressed in January. Where is the cover for Bentley or at right back? Moving players around is simply robbing Peter to pay Paul. In my book its between Charlton and Rovers for the final relegation spot. Next week's visit there is a must-not -lose.
  10. I would be worried about signing a 29 year old nobody has heard of. What has he being doing all that time to make it likely he will make any impression in the Prem?
  11. Rovers always get Wham's season up and running when they go to Upton Park. Don't see this time being any different. In the Championship season with 4 games left and them in a relegation fight - lost 2-0. In their relegation season endof Jauary we gave them their first home win!! Last season got them off to aflying start 3-1 and then into R5 of the FA Cup. Sunday has got a battering 0-3 written all over it.
  12. Reid taken off at halftime and commentator said this had been forced by injury picked up in collision with Wigan player. With Tugay suspended for first 3 the centre midfield is looking sparse - even Douglas might get a start.
  13. I don't imagine season tickets will be selling when it appears most of the best players from last season will be leaving - all for less than their proper market value because the club did not show sufficient ambition to get them resigned earlier. Alao a deafening silence on incoming transfers.
  14. Cisse injury will affect Pool summer transfer plans. Bellamy bid more or less likely?
  15. Has anyone got the info to work out where the Preston Hairdresser's predictions would have put Rovers compared to the actual finishing position? I imagine it would be a great point on which to humiliate him in some forum.
  16. Dunn's fitness levels are so far behind what is required at Rovers these days (and he struggled even under the previous regime) there is no chance of a return.
  17. I would guess if anyone offers a £1m + we'll take it. Here's hoping......
  18. Neill's comments in the after-match about Rovers being a "small club" show where he is coming from and going to.....At least Sav pulled him up and said "no we are a big club now"
  19. Todd has a long history of knee problems and ops. Accepting an offer from City might be a good move.
  20. What's the problem with having a foreign coach? Even establishment sports like cricket and tennis have been doing it for years. Tony Greig England captain 30 years ago and I don't remember anyone rubbishing the Ashes win just because the coach and leading batsmen are foreign. Get real and stop taking any notice of the BNP-supporting gutter press.
  21. Prediction for next season - Rovers will be where Brum are now - if we're lucky.
  22. Hughes management is falling apart. What has happened to Pongolle - his talk of joining in the summer is laughable - he never plays. Bentley and Bellamy never works - how long will it take for Hughes to see this? Why has Grey been offered a new contract when Hughes clearly (and rightly) has no confidence in him? The only bright spot tonight has been Peter but no doubt Hughes will drop him next match.
  23. Back from game. Grey was subbed st half time afetr a woeful display of feeble challenges that usually resulted in him left sitting on his backside. Midfield was largely non-existent and Pompey players frequently strolled through unchalenged. Total lack of movement off the ball. Pederson a complete passenger. This type of showing will get no points against Lpool, Brum andChelsea. Don't believe the final total will be more than 60 points max. If Bolton win 4 games the UEFA place is gone too.
  24. Third home game in succession where Rovers have had great luck in getting something out of the game. Away performances have been poor - Spurs apart - and something much better will be required to take anything from Pompey. Tugay looks shot - even coming on lete he gave away the ball for fun. A contract too far. Likewise Dickov. Reid not a Man Utd quality player on tonight's showing - but glad to take £6m - if they offer such a silly price for a player in the last year of a contract. Bentley - what does he offer, what has done since the Utd game? I fear a dose of realism is overdue.
