  1. I thought both of Thatcher's bookings were justified... Yes, he didn't touch Bentley for his first card, but I think Bentley has mastered dodging potentially nasty challenges while still exaggerating his fall.. The intent was there from Thatcher, I think it would have been a foul if Bentley had stood his ground, and we should be thankful that he didn't actually connect with Bentley that hard for any of his fouls.. Also, Bentley gets up faster from his fouls than above-mentioned divers.. not much rolling around crying.. Never pleased to see diving, but I think Bentley just about gets away with it being called "playing smart"..
  2. All this about 'Neill should sign for a few more years because he was crap for the first few' doesn't really make sense to me... As far as I know, he has started whenever he was available throughout the length of his contract. If he was as terrible as you guys make him out to be, he wouldn't have started! The fact is, Neill has given the club a good 4 or 5 (how long was his contract?) years of his career, and wants to move on once he finishes his contract. 'He only just became a good player, so he should stay longer' is not reasonable or logical. However, like pretty much everyone here - give Savage or Nelsen the captaincy. Our attempt at getting Neill to sign a new contract by making him feel important (a tactic which I didn't particularly agree with in the first place) didn't work, so let the more deserving candidates have the captaincy.
  3. While I like Ooijer, I don't think he should be given the armband, he's only just arrived.. he even seems to think so himself, as seen on the latest Ewood E-males thing: Q:How did it feel to be given the captaincy for the game against Tottenham at Ewood Park - did it come as a big surprise? And if you hadn't been chosen, who would you have picked? A:Similarly, it's always an honour to captain a club team. I'm still new at the club and I still don't know everybody, so it was a really big surprise for me. When you've got players like Brad Friedel and Tugay, who are long servants at the club and great players, I would probably have chosen one of those. Q:Hi Andre, have you considered what it would be like captaining Rovers on a permanent basis? A:I've not considered it yet. I'm just new at the club, there are a lot of players who have been at Rovers for a long time and as I said, I was surprised to be given it last time out, so I've not given it much thought.
  4. does anyone know if roversworld has a half-season ticket type deal?
  5. Liverpool 1-1 Rovers even though it seems like we always lose to them.. I feel confident of getting a point
  6. The official site's match report mentions Nonda as the "Congalese captain"... do we have yet another captain on our team?
  7. Watched Bolton 0-0 Boro (worst decision of my life)... and they were very solid at defending, but pretty hopeless at attacking. That might just have been their plan for a tough game at the Reebok though.. they might open up a little bit at home. Eh, I'm calling Boro 0 - 0 Rovers
  8. I'll admit I haven't been able to watch any of our recent games, but from reading match reports: how often do Bentley and Savage get kicked?? I seem to read "Player X fouls Bentley/Savage" multiple times per match report. And a shocking stat from the official website match report, in the last two games we have scored off of four free kicks all won by Bentley being fouled. Guess I can't complain too much about that! Ecstatic about the scoreline tonight, still worried about our defence, but I like how Hughes put the game on its head with his tactics, renews my confidence in Sparky. Pedersen involved with 3 of the goals, quite an improvement on recent games. Delighted that Gallagher got a goal... and I agree, Ooijer has been extremely unlucky as of late... I'm far from convinced, but I'm willing to give him some more games. YEAAAH ROVERS, made my weekend!
  9. Hughes really hates making substitutions it seems. If we ever have even one, its well past the 70th minute usually.. I'm not complaining, just noticing.
  10. Dabo will be suspended for the game, which probably means Hammann will start..
