  1. I won't read too much in to the loss. It was an underwhelming performance but we do have a lot of players missing You get the impression this is Southgate's last throw of the dice. I can understand why he is sticking to the same squad that has performed admirably over the past 3 tournaments I don't understand why he doesn't pick Tomori. He's playing in Italy and is a regular in a good AC Milan side. That Brainthwaite got the call up shows a bit of domestic bias to me. He isn't as good as Tomori and never will be For me, Joe Gomez has to play over Harry Maguire. They are levels apart now. With the injuries we had it meant it was a bit part team. A midfield of Gallagher and Rice does not win tournaments imo. I'd rather play TAA in there with Rice and Bellingham. Gallagher does a lot of nothing for me. Maddison deserves the call up before Gallagher I will never, ever wish an injury on a player but Maguire being injured may be a blessing in disguise. It forces Southgate's hand. But if we lose Walker then we also lose our best defender and that could be tragic for Euro 24
  2. Tim Farron is the one you need for that sort of thing This regulator has been mooted for years though. At one point Gary Neville was leading the charge. The momentum seems to have been lost though
  3. Rovers will be an attractive proposition to a potential buyer. I’ve always said it A relatively good ground. Chances of further investment with the Riverside. Great facilities and academy. Good history and a solid high level English football club The whole “who will buy us” is based on this £20m a year Venkys are supposedly putting in. The more I think about it, the more I’m doubting that’s true. How can it still require that much give the downscale we’ve had?
  4. I thought we played much better today. Some good football to bring it out from the back but then the play just broke down. The movement up top is poor to say the least. Gallagher needs to learn the art of running in behind. He makes these lung busting runs..but you’d need a De Bruyne / Messi hybrid to find him regularly. It’s such a wasted effort We should stick with a back 4. Still not convinced by our entire back line to be honest. Chrisene must be poor if he can’t dislodge Pickering, who I think is a “steady eddy” but not a player you will get promoted with. His final ball is really hit and miss. When Chrisene came I had a few messages telling me to watch out for him. What am I meant to be seeing? We look far better with Tronstad who has been a magnificent signing. I really do wonder if Telalovic will ever get a chance here. Gally can’t buy a goal now but this lad gets 3/4 minutes at the end to just run around for a bit Buckley needs to play as a 10. The problem is that Sammie is better at it than he is. Buckley is much better further up the pitch, pressing and driving with the ball. He’s a downgrade on Wharton but we all knew that Brittain puts in some dangerous crosses. The problem is that we have the shortest 6 foot 5 centre forward you’ve ever seen
  5. I’m on the hill with you. I don’t rate McFadzean at all
  6. Harvey Elliott not being called up is as much a criticism of Southgate than it is testament to our strength in depth Solanke should have had a chance this time around as well
  7. Badly worded The demand from people moght be there, but not from the local authority The housing in Brockhall and surrounding areas are classed as over-subscribed. There aren't enough schools, doctors etc to service what they already have. An extra 170 houses is not at the top of the list for either residents or councillors. Especially not in Brockhall Village
  8. Would Venkys be able to sell the Club whilst the investigation is still live?
  9. I think the value of the training ground is insignificant, really. The land is pretty much worthless to developers for the medium term. No way will it be able to be used for anything other than Rovers or some form of employment. One of the big criticisms of the brockhall development plan was that it just wasn't needed. The demand for housing just is not there in this area. When Rovers first took on Brockhall it was able to get planning permission in part because Rovers stressed it would continue to be a place of employment, as that is a condition of the land following its former use as a hospital / major employer. If Venkys sell the club they will have to put the training ground back in control of BRFC The whole training ground development was such a bizarre move looking back on it. It was never, ever going to be allowed, so why did they even try it?
  10. I think it more likely the payment has been approved given the next court date is scheduled for August as opposed to depending on the "Wharton money" What makes this miserable situation worse is the Indian judiciary is known to be painfully slow. This could drag on for years. We are on life support right now. The best thing "Madame" could do for this club is to look to move it on to somebody who has the ability to fund effectively. As ever, they are not interested in what is best for the club, but only for themselves After a brief period of positivity in Mowbray and JDT we are now looking at another period similar to that when Bowyer, Lambert and Coyle were at the club. Zero sums of money spent, zero ambition and a period which will more than likely result in a relegation As this league moves forward in revenue and quality, we are left struggling to keep up and it is 100% down to the Rao family. They are scum. There's no better word
  11. This is one of the many ways that the current rules around football club ownership fails the fans The court case in India has a direct impact on the club and therefore on the fans and the town itself. Yet we are left in the dark. It's not exactly clear what is going to happen. Most supporters have had an interest in Rovers long before they "bought us". Why on earth do fans not have a right to know what is going on at the club? Everything is second hand, or whatever can be gleamed from the internet This leaves the whole sport open to abuses. The authorities need to get a grip but they show no appetite. Whilst the money comes rolling in and HMRC keep getting their huge PL tax bills then the govt doesn't really care what happens to clubs like us
  12. Go away with the Steve Kean comparisons. As Matty says, he's a millions miles from it I like how we had a thread dedicated to embarrassing things wrote on other Rovers forums. Hopefully, they have their own topic with screenshots of this thread. Embarrassing is an understatement
  13. They aren't the greatest of matches for us this weekend Hudds play Rotherham, which should be a win for Huddersfield QPR at Sunderland with Sunderland being in stinking form Blues play Watford - we are desperate for that to be a draw
  14. Not a lot of managers come out and slag off those above them. If any, really Most of the time, managers - head coaches or whatever - will come out in public and feed a PR line because they know that gives them a better opportunity for future jobs. Eustace is no different Wanting somebody to come in and immediately start slagging off the board is a bit of an odd desire for me. Even if they may deserve it The goal at the moment is to stay in the league. If he just comes in and begins to throw his weight around then it helps nobody
  15. You are one of the more reasonable posters on here, so I guess it's about time this was challenged What has John Eustace done or said that has made you think he is a "yes man"? And what exactly do you mean by it?
  16. Absolutely. Good post tomphil Somehow there's been a narrative formed that Eustace is this "yes man". It's bollocks I have tried not to post much on the now two threads we have on Eustace. The other thread just being a total fucking joke for a Rovers fan forum by the way. I know John will never read this but him being called a cunt, useless, stupid or whatever else after a few weeks as head coach is almost making me turn away from contributing to the forum in the future. Given it is now a trend to screenshot comments from other Rovers fan platforms and post on here for a bitchfest you'd think they'd then think harder about their own posts. I guess not It is misdirected anger. In some cases, it is just petulant and crap posting. Treating a fan discussion board as an almost personal notice board for mouth-frothing rants is no way to contribute The comparisons between Eustace and Kean are just pathetic. Time for people to grow up I think. He's a bloke who like us loves football. He is not here to be a yes man or to fleece the club; he's been given a job to do, and he will try as best he can to do it. If the squad or he isn't up to it then really you have to point the blame at the people who have allowed it to get to this point. That isn't John. Calling him every name under the sun on a message board might make you feel a bit better, but it makes you look rather stupid yourself
  17. I believe it is mental filtering with some people. They want to blame the easy thing, or what they can see. That is the players and the coaches. Nothing else really matters to them. The fact that the players and coaches have been downgraded ever since the Rao family bought the club does not seem to come into it The next visible "party" are the fans. Hence, they receive the second most blame The issue has always been that we do not have a suitable local journalist who are probing and ultimately printing the right things. I don't read the LT really. I get my Rovers news from here. The failure of the Lancashire Telegraph to really get to grips with the commotion at Ewood is a direct cause of the fan base apathy. They only read about the team and therefore only care about the team
  18. How have you managed to determine that John Eustace is stupid? That's some judgement you have made there. On a par with Mercer and his terrace analysis of Benson
  19. In our League 1 campaign we had Charlie Mulgrew scoring from free kicks or corners for fun. 15 goals from centre back or something daft like that I thought we were unlucky not to win the league really. We had a bit of a shite run at some point early doors I think and that cost us. But Mowbray also threw it against Charlton I think? We weren't lucky to go up that's for sure. Our team was a very, very good one for that level. The criticism is that we should have won that league Shrewsbury were the unlucky team. Their purple patch also coincided with us and Wigan - with Wigan at that time being a bit of a yoyo team between the leagues if I remember correctly
  20. In my opinion it will be Rotherham, Stoke and Plymouth who go down Saturday is an absolute must win. Or, must not lose The sad reality is that we do not have that good of a squad. It comes to something when McFadzean has come in and looked a decent player. He was a bottom half Championship player in his "prime". He should be a league or two below now really
  21. I think this is a case of be careful what you wish for, as far as people moaning about playing style The football under John Eustace will not be as expansive as it was under JDT or even Mowbray. It will be very much about doing the right things at the back and trying to generate them counters, set pieces or moments of brilliance to get a goal at the other end Some days it will come off - Stoke - and others you will feel a sense of frustration
  22. Bloody hell this can't be true Most will use the toll around here...especially when charging it back to the company. You have to be bent out of shape to object to £8 to avoid the hell that is the M6 Jct 11 to Jct 5
  23. On Instagram there’s a page called “plagiarism-Blackburn” They are selling Waggott out stickers for 13p each
