Think this is the most likely scenario. Either Broughton & co went rogue and negotiated the deal without the prior approval from India, which never came, or they were told that the deal could be negotiated but the final approval from India didn’t arrive before the deadline (either because of incompetence or a last minute change of mind).

Someone fed Andy Bayes the line that the reason the McGuire deal fell through initially was because of an issue with the Wharton deal, most of us knew this was nonsense at the time and we’ve since found out that the actual reason was that the owners pulled the funding. This suggests that there is someone inside the club who’s covering Venky’s arse.

Disagree, think he’s handicapped here as he’s playing with players way below his level. He’s the type of player who needs to be playing with other players on his wavelength. Honestly don’t think he’ll be uncomfortable at any level even now.

Getting into semantics but by any definition he’s currently a millionaire, after tax. Obviously moving to Palace will be attractive financially but I think moving in the summer will be just as attractive and he’s not exactly skint now. All I’m saying is that the financial pressure to move right now is probably overstated.
