  1. I’m with Gav not going today for exactly the same reason. Watching a lot of our own academy players made me feel proud even if results have been poor. That sale finished me no intention of developing and growing a team. Scoundrels from the top down. I just hope this Indian court case is the beginning of the end

Tomasson believes this is crucial to play development and ensuring the club can apply a player-trading model.

“The most difficult thing in football is to give a team an identity, but I think it is needed because the club wants to sell players," Tomasson explained.

    Well that is that!

So it’s not about promotion or being competitive. It’s about being a meat market get them in, fatten up and sell them on.

To achieve this a manager isn’t under pressure to win. Promotion is not required just keep playing a style and get young players exposure.

They don’t even care about having fans. Let’s squeeze the mugs who are willing to pay and forget the rest.
They also learned a PR excercise and have made themselves community friendly.

Tommason has had enough and it’s written in his face and after 50 plus years I think I have. We will never achieve anything until they are gone because that’s not what they want.

I just hope the Indian govt is better than the fit and proper owner test and  have found enough to move them on.

  3. This is my thoughts. Our manager has moaned about squad depth and experience. He sends a 200 game championship midfielder to the second in the league. What mugs they are. We then get 2 more teens after losing 6 from 8 on his reign with the excuse of age and learning curve

Not got a problem but if he comes at the end of this window and moans about age and experience he needs sacking. Travis and Buckley are both his choice.

.We ship goals for fun because our defensive organisation is shambolic. The gap between midfield and defensive is so big opposition teams sit in it and let us blow ourselves out.

Everything above him is chaos but I don’t believe he’s helping with his system with no room for errors defensively.

Finally we have the worst goalkeeper I’ve ever seen. How we continue playing him is a mystery. Absolutely appalling can’t command his box , can’t catch and not physically capable. Paid £800000 for him. Bloody hell

  4. The rules of storytelling

1)don’t let facts ruin a good story

    2) exaggeration is an expectation

    3) Don’t tell working class stories when you’ve been boozing all day on your middle class pre winter holiday

    4) I’m prepared to defend everything I’ve said in the court of fairytales at a time of your chosing

The centurion was a shocking place. The police used to let the locals punch themselves out before going in at weekends. They weren’t even coming from town they where parked outside

i went to shad school in the 1970s and  shad wasnt a match for the poverty of highercroft. Although shad was by far the toughest school in blackburn. Outside blackburn turton  we’re fearsome. at one point highercroft was the 8th most deprived area outside London.
Can’t speak for green lane or Scotland never been. Mill hill on the other hand

Edit centurion his folks used to have the centurion I think .

Old jam is right turning your back on your team is sacralige

That surprised me. I came from highercoft. It was the roughest place you’ve ever been in. Once had a fight in there and got hit over the head with a gun and the is true

  6. Just like shirt pulling. For Leicesters first gosl

travis was Shirt pulled. Ref no problem. Penalty given for them for shirt pulling.
it’s about consistency and in the main they are a bag of shite and biased in my opinion.
The end of last season some of the decisions that went against us and it’s cost should allow teams to claim damages

very intimitading ground was burnden park, you were safer in the home ends, you just needed to keep quiet and not look to happy if we scored, the walk out of the ground was scary tbh

only grounds that were worse were elland road, maine road and the victoria ground, stoke fans were always angry about something

Port Vale is a shocker they are the ones who are barred from stoke city

  8. The railway embankment at burden park was the stuff of nightmares. I went in maybe 1974 and it had reached the point where there was only a few hundred rovers there. You had to fight to get in, fight to stay in and then fight to get out.

I was outside and this large group of Bolton fans came over and said where looking for Wellsey he pointed at another guy for a laugh Chris Brooks I think. He was no slouch and gave this Bolton lad a right thumping

to be fair it`s asking a lot for him to lead the line on his own, very few 19 year olds would be able to do it,a couple of months in the lower leagues would sort out his hold up play and bulk him up imo

Or play him and let him learn. He has the movement and instinct of a striker. My personal opinion is with us it’s a one man job. No balls over the top, no little runs down the channels. Overall he does well in a team that doesn’t us a number 9

  10. I thought we where amazing. We did a job on them. We where organised and resilient and managed to take our chance. It’s great to see commitment to the cause, desire to win and the ability to stick to the plan.I was proud of them today.
To finish we have a great manager which also makes the difference

I think it's slightly more nuanced than that.

Up to about January we would play out from the back and run out of ideas on halfway. It was embarrassing to watch at times and I commented on it on here before Christmas.

We now cut through teams quite easily and get to the edge of their box and then run out of idea...or try to walk it in. The improvement in how well we 'play through the lines', to use that awful term, is quite stark. JRC has been a massive part of that improvement because he's very good at dropping into space where a RCM would normally be and spraying passes out wide or playing through the oppositions midfield. Wharton will also become central to that when he finds more consistency.

So, I think comparisons with Mowbray's possession football are a long way wide of the mark. The football is much quicker now. If you compare the teams yesterday we were like Barcelona compared to them in the way we moved the ball around. They looked like a pub side in that first half.

As for counter-attacking, that's also improved. We'd have never scored the goal at home to Sheff Utd under Mowbray.

JDT doesn't get the credit he deserves for the way he's transformed the way the team plays. The fitness levels are also frightening.

He knows where the problems are. His constant remarks about missed opportunities and quality in the final third tell you where he knows the team needs to improve.

Nothing is certain, but I'm excited about next season.

In my opinion I don’t think I’ve read a better summary of the situation on here.

  12. I think we can all agree it is now very unlikely that we’ll make the play offs but it’s not for a lack off effort just a failure to address our frailties in January. Center half’s have it to easy what I wouldn’t have given for a big lumbering nasty foward in the billy whitehurst mould to rattle them. Alternatively a poacher like Rhodes with positional sense sadly lacking in Gallagher.

The positive is for the first time we have a style of play and the makings of a promotion challenging team with a few astute additions.

I hope Thomason stays because I feel we could be a lot better next season
