So glad he scored, & justified being in the 11 today... 2nd time all year he’s started
-
YES!

Ballgame. We miss, they score.
-
Meanwhile, Dann’s header hits post at 94’ too bad...
-
No Bennett or SG. We will see...

It’s pretty much consensus Mowbray should field a younger team today. I think I will scream if Bennett or Gallagher start. A young keeper will be abused by ‘birds, but really, will Walton do any better?
-
Why not? The Telegraph said today the playoffs are out of reach, I do not disagree with that statement. This looks daring, and ambitious. I like it.

Last season, Rovers record was 16-12-18, good for 15th on the table. If we go 1-1-3 the rest of the way, we will equal that. Tony should play the youth. I don’t think they can possibly have a negative impact on our final record.

My predictive powers haven’t been any good, so I will not predict a Rovers win this time. hopefully, our players can just be competitive, play with discipline, and finish a goal (if we get close to one).

Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll

Exactly, what’s the point of hiring another guy, not an improvement, just to change names. we need to think big. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll

I don’t mind it... it’s another good option. Whenever the time comes to replace Tony Mowbray. I also notice on the poll, the % to keep him has gone up the last couple of days. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
WacoRover replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There’s a negative to anybody on that list. Whatever, I still say evaluate mowbray at seasons end. We’re all just upset at 3 straight losses. It’s just 5 games, and nothing will be saved or wrecked in that time. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
WacoRover replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Truth, but as we know, Rangers have a sticky financial situation. I still says fans would welcome a big name, a proven winner, one of the best midfielders ever who understands the game. Rovers would play sound, disciplined, football, imo. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
WacoRover replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Face it, Venky’s isn’t leaving. Boycotts have done nothing in the past. This is the only Blackburn Rovers Football Club we will ever have. If the club is soulless and hopeless, nothing would lift our spirits like the appointment of a fresh young face, a winner. When the time comes, Steven Gerrard would be my choice. -

I think you made some great suggestions; again, why not put Gerrard on that list, for the reasons I stated? -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
WacoRover replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I appreciate the fact you’ve given us a big list to mull over, whenever the time comes for Mowbray’s departure. I am realistic enough to know he won’t be here forever, even if the owners keep him at seasons end. I don’t even want a change right now, but if I did, I think I would offer Steven Gerrard. Why? He’s young, a big name, won scads of trophies & big games, loves & understands the game, and would give the fans the idea we’re not simply going after some old, tired, retread guy that everybody has had. He’s a winner, Rangers beating Celtic the first time in six years under him. We got King Kenny at one time, the heart & soul of LFC, and that turned out great; why not his successor? -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll

We may disagree in point on canning mowbray, but there is a lot I can agree with in this post. Much of the above is history, but we know if we don’t study history we are bound to repeat many mistakes. I’m just saying let’s wait 5 more games, to fully assess what went wrong this season, and what went right; Tony’s strengths & his weaknesses; who got hurt at critical times; what players need to be re-signed, need to be released, & who needs to retire. In the big scope of things, 5 games isn’t much. Also, as I stated elsewhere, unless Superman is already identified & ready to sign on the dotted line (I am guessing he’s a mystery man), we don’t want to saddle a caretaker/new gaffer with someone else’s headaches/nightmares. Let him start fresh. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
WacoRover replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I voted no, but he needs to be fully assessed at seasons end. If he rights the ship these last five, and we finish in the top half of the division, after our injuries, I do not see how it would help our situation going forward to fire him. This is beyond our scope, but he should absolutely not be sacked unless there is a clearly identified replacement. For those who voted to sack, why would you want him canned unless you have an idea who you would want? you might at least have 1-2 candidates in mind- McCarthy might be decent. Nigel Adkins (just throwing a name out), etc. -
Leeds at Home 4.7.20
WacoRover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I am not excusing any of our last three performances, from a managerial or player standpoint. But where were the positive comments this season, when Rovers took 21 of 30 points (Nov. 2-Dec 26) and 20 of 36 (Jan. 11-June 20)? We had decent chances to score in all three; TM cannot be blamed when Samuel and SG whiffed on great opportunities. Going forward, those are good reasons not to play them. But don’t sack mowbray now. That makes no sense with 5 games, and it wouldn’t be fair to the new gaffer, either. -

Agreed, Davey & Atko. Mowbray does not deserve much of the spiteful comments directed his way. But I do agree somewhat on his transfers, player development and some of his tactics. We’re still a better club than a year ago. Injuries hit us hard, and mowbray squared the team away each time. He deserves some consideration for that. Until We have nothing to play for- save relegation- and the club clearly identities a better, more suited candidate, we don’t need manager-go-round again. It may not be popular here, but we could do a lot worse. -

You’re right, hired him in February 2017. it sure seems like 4 1/2 years though. -

WacoRover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He’s a nice guy & a good man I bet, but not fit for the challenge at hand and the future of the club. I admit I have supported him until the past week. If we finish the last five, and send him packing, I don’t really think it hurts anybody’s feelings. Including TM, he’s had 4 1/2 years. -

Rovers are in free fall. I don’t know that anybody outside of Lenihan, Nyambe, arma & Dacky worth saving. -
