  1. Exclusive: Blackburn Rovers pursuit of international midfielder faces collapse - Jaka Bijol For what it is worth. I'm not aware of any bid for this player. Think this might be agents+club trying to drive up the price and increase interest.
  2. Check the time and the date I posted the message and spend a little less time being obnoxious to strangers.
  3. As I revealed over 24 hours ago. Nice of the Sun man to catch up. ? Football Manager and Fifa are very good at getting player wages spot on in some cases. But in the cases of younger lesser known players they are horrendously off. Take that from someone who worked for EA 5ish years ago. Oelschlägel is on closer to £10,000 a week than £2,000 a week. Similar wages to Jordan Archer. Slightly less than Rob Elliot would want. The price structure Tony is trying to stick to for the second keeper is the £3,000-£5,000 a week bracket. Pears should meet that bracket. Oelschlägel would need to come down a bit.
  4. Eric Oelschlägel is another name which has cropped up this morning in the goalkeeper hunt. A player who was flagged by the European scouts whilst playing for Borussia Dortmund II. His contract expired this summer. Wages would be an issue I fear. Pears is still preferred.
  5. Mowbray is expecting to agree a fee with Boro to sign Pears. Should be around £300,000. Warnock is trying to drum up the price though by encouraging more interested buyers.
  6. We have Lenihan, Travis, Buckley, Costello and Nyambe.
  7. He refused to sign a disclaimer without a new contract that would have left him screwed signing for a new club after his contract with Boro expired. They basically wanted him to play with no protection should he be injured playing for them.
  8. Get his agent on the phone and extend his contract by 3 years. We have a ridiculously good talent on our hands with this lad and the sooner his longterm future is tied down the better. His contract expires in 2022. Let's make sure we don't have another Connor Mahoney.
  9. The term In The Know is such a moronic label. I'm not asking for credit. I'm not expecting plaudits. I know some sports agents, some staff at clubs, some players and some data analysts who also have access to people who are on the receiving end of information.. If I hear something I shall mention it on here if I think it's credible. Most instances I don't know targets. But sometimes I find out information.
  10. With Mowbray's virtual 5 man midfield, I'm still of the belief we are 1 man short.
  11. Shame for him is that making that choice he has incurred a 2 week long quarantine if he comes back to the UK. In other news, Mowbray, who see's no hurry in the transfer market and following through with players has only had 17 players in training for the Newcastle United match. Remember, most of these players are going to have to play the next Championship game as well.
  12. Personal terms were agreed. Saudi club just offered more.
  13. He snubbed us for a particular reason. That reason may have just changed.
  14. He's a paedophile. For goodness sakes let's say what it is.
  15. I don't think so no, it's not a name I have heard of as being active but you never know. Obviously he has a previous working relationship with Mowbray so that has the potential to move faster than other deals. The Chilean LB worries me.
  16. I didn't say fantastic. I just meant has potential to progress and force his way into the reckoning. From the list posted earlier. Only Archer has this potential over Kasinski in my opinion. Pears is a bit of a wildcard but he definitely has the potential to force his way into Mowbray's thinking if Kasinski has a wobble.
  17. Info from a football agent (not his). He reckons he is back looking for a club in Europe. He's already settled with a home in England so...
  18. Daniel Ayala might be back on. Snag is he has been abroad so will need to quarantine.
  19. That's the flaw. You need a keeper to challenge. Not a keeper to just sit there and come on when called upon. I went Kasinski to feel like the No.2 keeper is breathing down his neck so he is on his toes to keep form.
  20. Middlesbrough reject Blackburn's first offer for Aynsley Pears BLACKBURN ROVERS will return with an improved offer for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Aynsley Pears this week after their initial £200,000 bid was turned down.
  21. Two flaws with your thinking One- The owners are looking at resale value. Signings are investments and not stop-gaps Two- Surely we want players who can challenge the dominant starters?
  22. Not really. I know how much Rob Elliot (circa £15k a week) was on at the Toon and how much he would want to move on. Pears on the otherhand has talent, will become a better keeper and challenge Kasinski and would be overall vastly cheaper (circa £3k-£4k a week) than Elliot a player I advocated a week or two ago. He would also give us an option got years to come whilst Elliot has a short expiration date in playing days. Luke Steele isn't as good as Pears. Lee Camp isn't as good as Pears. Jordan Archer is as good, but will be on at least 3 times the wages. Free transfers aren't always as cheap as deals where fee's are paid. As I said above. A deal for Rob Elliot or Jordan Archer would likely cost more than a deal for Pears over the course of 2 seasons when you factor in resale and potential development. In a perfect world Jordan Archer would come in on reduced wages to challenge Kasinski. But I think he wouldn't come in unless assured 1st team football.
  23. No resale value. Vastly higher wages. Would ultimately cost more than Pears over 2 seasons.
  24. I don't even get the debate on here regards Aynsley Pears. It's not debatable as to whether he is better than Fisher. He is. Miles ahead of him. He is better with his reflex saves, his handling is better and his diving especially at close range is better. £200,000-£300,000 isn't a lot of money for a talented 22 year old keeper who has experience at this level. What do people on here expect from a second keeper? Do people want to go into the season knowing that if Kaminski gets injured we will have to play with Fisher as No.1 until January with Jordan Eastham as backup. Disagree with a lot of what Mowbray has done this summer regards transfers. But this is not a bad option.
