  1. Of course, the VFM factor also comes down to what you ate interested in. I'd concede that if you like cricket, golf, rugby union, F1 etc. and sport is your primary interest/social expense then fair enough, £30 all you can eat is great. If however you only like football, and your interest in that competes with other expensive hobbies like weekend city breaks or live music etc. then all of a sudden £x per month is rather unattractive.
  2. That's me not watching Rovers on the midweeks etc. any more then. I adore Rovers but I utterly resent Sky and everything they stand for. I can't in all good faith bring myself to hand them a tenner if I want to watch us at Swansea on a Tuesday next season or whatever, nor can I be arsed to circumvent it. (Before anyone says the obvious, I live in the Midlands. Birmingham or West Brom is golden for me midweek, Ewood less so!)
  3. Fucking worse than shite this gang. Get Hyam to fuck.
  4. Was recommended the Orchard but have dropped in at the Bag of Nails now so it's too far off the path sadly.
  5. First time at Ashton Gate tonight. I have circumvented my fears of the dirge I might be served up in exchange for my match ticket and hotel costs and day off work by partaking in this city's excellent public house provision. Half the time I think if I had to do all this teetotal I think I'd get another hobby.
  6. This is probably the best sentence I have ever read on here. I am stealing that phrase!
  7. Aye, don't mind them but ain't my scene. Just wish they'd sing fucking songs about the Rovers.
  8. I clearly don't, I was also clearly going off what you implied by what you said ffs.
  9. It probably isn't if it's inhabited by the likes of you and those attitudes tbh
  10. Nope, leave all that carry on to the coked up pissheads who usually do it.
  11. This is beginning to do annoy me at Rovers. Not been to Ewood in a while, but at Norwich and then at Stoke yesterday, despite our brilliant performances on the pitch, our most popular song was that '[Kompany] playing football the Burnley way...' chant, and all you could hear stood outside the bet65 beforehand was some anti-Burnley stuff. I'm here to support our boys, ffs.
  12. I did not. Started watching Rovers early 00s. My opinion from my experiences.
  13. 'Anticipating contact' wasn't invented then
  14. You can have Banks, Yashin, Schmichel, Casillas, Buffon, Kahn, Taffarel, Dida, Toldo, Seaman, van der Sar, Cech and whoever else, we had super Brad. Not a kid played football in Blackburn for the best part of a decade without pretending they were him in nets. I loved him then and I love him now. He and Tugay are my two favourite Rovers ever by a country mile.
  15. I had a Greek flatmate at the time that was all getting tweaked (the renaming, not the dissolution of Yugoslavia!). He wasn't short of opinions on the matter, and you can imagine what they were. It actually transpired that he wasn't too keen on any of Greece's neighbours except for Bulgaria. Lost hours of my life accidentally setting him off on stuff like that. Like saying the V word to a Rovers fan, but worse.
  16. Interested as to your problems with Dan. Appreciate the genre isn't for everyone but their compositions were utterly watertight.
  17. In which case all discussion should have ceased after someone said Lennon-McCartney!
  18. All this songwriter chat and no-one mentioned Donald Fagen/Walter Becker. Disgusting IMO.
  19. I mean surely we all know by now that a lot of the rules and regulations and their executors in the highest levels of football are weak as piss. Man City can afford pretty much an endless line of the best legal representatives in the world; anything that does get filed will come with a comparative slap on the wrist and a fine any given member of their first team could pay instantaneously. Fit and proper, FFP, all this shite; it's all bollocks. As ever, it is only the ones without mummy and daddy on hand who shall be punished.
  20. As someone from the slightly newer generation (*) who only really remembers from the League Cup victory onwards, my hierarchy of dislike was always Burnley, then Man United, then Bolton. I'm nowhere near as frequent an attendee as I was as a kid these days, but the reasons perhaps Preston never really land on my radar is that for just over a decade we never played them (unless I've missed some odd Cup tie somewhere). Ditto Blackpool, Wigan in similar regards. Funnily enough mind, my very first Rovers memory is from the 00-01 season when we went 3-0 at home to PNE in about 20 mins. (*) - at Watford away this season I clocked from their programme notes on us that I am indeed older than every current Rovers player . That was an eye opener!
  21. Bolton Wanderers landed me in hospital a couple of years ago. Thought they were going bust and I detached a lung laughing.
  22. Currently en-route to Norwich to make a long weekend of this. Lovely city though it is I really hope Rovers make it a worthwhile trip!
