    Fascinating really.

Some kind of overhaul of the Champions League format is desperately required and long overdue. However, it cannot be a closed shop / franchise. It has to be competitive.

We’ve had this debate several times over the years on here and the best outcome seemed to be a combined ESL but with the lowest placed team from each completing country being relegated and replaced with the PL, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 winners. Perhaps three from each major country and a single season for each of the domestic champions from each of the smaller nations.

That would be enough of an incentive for the top clubs, spreads the cash amongst smaller league winners, and would keep each league included in the European football pyramid. It’s the next logical step.

The idea that these teams can franchise themselves AND still be involved in domestic competition with their teams full of all of the world class players is absurd on it’s face. It would make a mockery of domestic ‘competition’.

If they want to be protected financially then they have to walk away from all other competitions.

The Football League could become a single league authority again in a post-PL, post-money-based world. Bring clubs back to the fans. Fewer televised games, higher crowds, more relatable to genuine football fans.

A pipe dream I guess but Pandora’s box has been opened and these clubs have shown their true colours and their true contempt.

In other news, I expect there were smiles on at least a couple of faces within Rovers management as they read their newspapers and shipped on their coffee.

Oh, and Jose is now available to take over from Mowbray on “Project Journey”.

Chaddy is against him coming - I think.

The clubs had to phrase their statement in the way they did. let's not kid ourselves, the purpose of the meeting of the 14 tomorrow is to kick the 6 out of the premier league. As Kevin Maguire put it the money that's currently going to 80-90 clubs will in future go to 20. There are a lot of snouts out of joint.

Mourinho ain't coming here full stop. Venkys ain't paying those wages

If you want to keep dreaming that he is then I would question your sanity

I would if I were Venkys. Sounds to me like you're not prepared to pay what's necessary to secure success. And yes, I am assuming Mourinho being here would guarantee promotion.

There is zero chance of Mourinho coming to the Championship and Blackburn Rovers.

If you honestly think we have even 1% chance of appointing him then I don't know what planet you are living on.

I'm currently living on planet earth, but one day I hope to live on planet Mars. Who gave Leeds a chance of getting Bielsa?

no one said it should have a bearing on any managerial appointment apart from you and others mention every time we suggest Ainsworth for the manager job here.

Ainsworth should be on the shortlist when we have a vacancy here. Hopefully very shortly.

You previously told me you were not going to answer a hypothetical question as to whether you'd have Mouriunho here, because he wasn't available.  He is now available, would you have him here? Now?

I don't think you're thinking through your defence. This proposed economic coup grabs and reserves a bigger market share amongst a cartel, which will mean most levels of European football, especially, televised or streamed, lose out.

I don't see the proposal as taking away any funding at all from the Europa League. As for funding in English, Spanish and Italian league, I've already said that I think the Premier League will cease to exist.

And now I'm into repeating my self.

I can see I'm going to have to resort to the PMQ 'Please refer to my answer previously.

But I wasn't talking about promotion or relegation so it had absolutely no relevance to what I was talking about. Which was that the Glazer's (who you were defending) have in 16 years never acted in their clubs interests only in their own interests. Although you seem to be keen to move away from you defence of them trying to move the topic on to first the NFL and now the MLS neither of which have any relevance to this story which concerns European football.

You mentioned association football. You really are trying to shift the conversation and then shift the blame onto me. You've clearly lost the argument by doing that.

The MLS is a retirement home for those looking for a last pay day and the standard of it is poor. The MLS isn't even the best league in the CONCACAF region and the national team lost out to Panama in qualifying for the last world cup. What exactly is your point? Are you trying to say that all league should aspire to be like the MLS.

I made no statement about the quality of the MLS or the status of the US national team.

of course these people matters, its people like yourself who say they don't matter.

Why doesn't Liverpool fans opinion matter, or UEFA President comments or the UK PM who can stop those clubs from playing here?

    who are these teams?

Which other teams apart from the Greedy 12 clubs owners have asked to join this Super League? NO other clubs want to be part of it.

Why are such a big fan of these clubs wrecking the football pyramid and those clubs just get more greedy and more greedy?

Boris cannot stop it. Liverpool has a global fan base.

Why keep asking me which teams will opt to play in the qualifiers? I do not know.

They have owned Manchester United for 16 years and have rarely acted in the clubs interest. Their performances on the pitch have dropped, the trophy cabinets that were once packed are now bare, the once Theatre of Dreams is now looking increasingly dated and downtrodden. The only 2 things that have gone up since they bought the club are the club's debts and their own personal wealth. Your half right they certainly have their own interests at heart but certainly not the clubs.

I said how I expected them to act and quoted the recent example of Tampa Bay not Man Utd.

    Qualification? you mean invitation

Invitation will certainly not be based on , on field activity and success. The inclusion of Tottenham as set the standard

5 teams under the plans will qualify from a qualifying stage. They will be the best of the rest.

Manchester City and Chelsea have also signed a 23 year commitment to the ESL.

I expect we'll find out on what grounds players will be banned from UEFA competitions.

@chaddyroversAll these opinions you keep quoting are from people who don't matter.
