  1. Apparently we were the 2nd worst team for picking up points from losing positions last season (would have been bottom but for the Millwall game!)

Although we did fall behind the 4th fewest times so there's a positive!

We were also 5th best at taking points from winning positions.

I agree with @lraC though, seems pretty rare. I even got 2-1 odds on city turning it around at half time on Saturday!

That’s why I quoted it, as it is so out of line with Rovers’ fans view.

Missed the first 20mins which I often feel gives a very different perspective on a match but I thought edun was very good offensively, I probably would have given him a 7 /10 overall.

Defensively questionable but we didn't let them have much of the ball so wasn't a major issue.

If the opposition right winger isn't all that I'd probably give him a go at LB in the league.

Wasn't sold on any defender to be honest, when the ball was on the ground we were OK. Aerially it was Sunday league.

They shouldn’t have bothered with anything in the midst of winter. In 2001 all the cheap ticket offers (no strings offers, £10 a ticket anywhere for a couple of games) were all in the run in. Business end of the season, momentum building, much better weather

Alas, the club is no longer run by the esteemed folk of twenty years ago, actual ‘football men’, who understood the fanbase, unlike the fella laughably described as one on here the other day.

Perhaps that's why this isn't the deal many were hoping for? I remember Waggot saying the EFL don't like clubs doing single game ticket offers but perhaps he's going to save incurring the wrath of the EFL until such offers could have a much bigger effect? Like you say, more people will be willing on a nice day with the prospect of promotion imminent.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying this will happen as there has been nothing to suggest any clever thinking regarding ticketing for the last 5 years at least!!

(Although the community engagement thing looks to be going well).

  4. If I was Mowbray, I'd be looking to loan a low cost keeper who is good in the air. Not sure if one exists but shouldn't be too expensive if we sacrifice shot stopping a little. Seen a lot of games where kaminski is relatively untested besides claiming high balls.

Can see both sides of the priority argument but a decent backup keeper and another CM and I'd consider it an excellent window (if we don't lose anyone). Not sure we could justify another LB but even that would come before a striker for me with brereton, khadra, gally and Dolan as options. Butterworth and hopefully dack to consider as well.

So the extent of Reading's punishment for exceeding permitted losses by almost £20 million is a 6 point deduction.

Better than nothing but not exactly a game changing sanction is it? With their squad they will likely have more than enough to survive and can go again with a clean slate.

Not sure it is worth selling the training ground for or cutting costs back and risking Championship status over, or allowing all our best players to leave for nothing because we supposedly can't offer them better terms. Think I'd sooner ensure we had a good quality squad of contracted players and take the 6 points myself.

To be fair, they were put under an embargo which pretty much relegated us when we had one. But ours was clear cut and seemed like we were singled out a bit. Readings is some sort of embargo light but still probably best to avoid...

It is pointless but if there is a preliminary qualifying group San Marino would finish bottom of that too.

How would that group fit in with the schedule? They'd have to play more matches just to get into a group then more than likely would be the whipping boys all over again.

The pitch is a mess too.

Could there not be a competition for the lowest ranked teams, run simultaneously to the WC, where the top 6 (or whatever) then qualify for the qualifiers. Then the worst 6 qualifiers swap places with them? Wouldn't be too different to the Europa League & old intertoto and no extra matches Vs what they would have played anyway.

  7. All this talk of Dack reminds me of the Jordan Rhodes debate. Do you focus around your most dangerous player or go for a team approach?

For me, this formation is much better to watch but the jury is out on its efficacy. However, I am optimistic on early showings! I wouldn't change it for Dack but not something we need to worry about just yet.

I'm sure we will work on various styles in training so we don't necessarily have to shoehorn him in, it will be a horses for courses approach. We know Tony loves a tinker!

  8. Surely this is the season to trial a monthly 'membership' in place of a season ticket? Say £10/month until crowds return and then £30/month thereafter. Fans could choose to upgrade or stick with ifollow.

Appreciate it's not for everyone but I think it would be a fairer method and locks people in.

Downside is it would be difficult for the club to budget but so many things are subscription these days I think Rovers need to join in.
