Sure, but my point wasn't so much about the actual positions, but the sheer gap between 3rd and 6th being 19 points. A handful of points during the season you can put down to luck, refereeing decisions, and such... but 19 points? It just makes a bit of a mockery of getting what you deserve for 46 games worth of effort, when you can have one bad match and lose all of it to a team that performed nowhere near as well as you did throughout the season.

I know it is what it is, but I feel for Sheffield Wednesday in this instance. It simply isn't fair at all.

Do you want a system like in Serie B where, if 3rd place is more than 15 points ahead of 4th, then there are no playoffs?

looking like louie annesley will be leaving this window before his contract's up. what a weird signing he's been? i know it's only gibraltar, but when you consider his age, the load of international games he's played, and just how long he's been here (five seasons now!) it's quite odd there's never once been anything whatsoever about him coming through into the first team, or even heading out on loan to develop? seems odd we'd bother keeping him for so long if we think so little of him? i saw him play for the u21s a few times, and he always seemed decent enough, no worse than many others on the pitch. odd!

Dundalk could be a good destination for him. A potential European campaign next season (they're in the ECL and Irish clubs are becoming regulars in that competition) will be a good experience at least.

  3. Can't confirm this but word among Man Utd supporters is that he's been told he'll have chronic problems for the rest of his life if he keeps playing so he's virtually done already. One person who seems to be close with the Academy there said the main reason he's being allowed to see out his contract is so he can be rehabbed for quality of life post-football rather than a return to play, with the club helping him get qualifications as he transitions to being part-time and then retiring at the end of the season, much like how they supported keeper Paul Woolston when injury forced him to retire.

Shame to see such a promising career end the way it has, guy could have been one of the world's top defenders had injuries not completely disintegrated his knee. Maybe he'll get a job as a youth coach at United or Blackburn once he's got his qualifications?

  4. Scary stuff in League One tonight as Wycombe striker Tjay De Barr collapsed at FT. Plymouth manager said in post-match interview that Tjay was coughing up blood after a rough collision and went down holding his chest before losing consciousness. Paramedics rushed onto the pitch and took him to hospital. Wycombe boss wasn't available for comment as he went to the hospital with De Barr, but updates have been steadily coming through and he's in a "good" condition but they're doing tests to find out why he collapsed and coughed up blood.

He looked all over the place in the first 15 minutes but that's probably down to nerves. Settled down after that and did well and won his headers Vs their big number 9.

Definitely saved us from going to penalties with an outstanding block right at the end

Hope he can have a good career in League 1/League 2. Getting a few apps for the first team this season in the cups will help him a lot, playing alongside good quality players and learning under a proper, youth oriented manager in JDT. Could well see him again this season if he keeps doing his job with little fuss and doing the important stuff. Although he probably will be released at the end of the season.

That's an impressive win. A result that I was not expecting when the lineups came out. Credit to the lads for getting us into the next round.

Looking forward to seeing the draw. Another lower league side hopefully, I want the cup run to go on.

Yeah I think some of the youngsters proved they're not as terrible as some think they are. Not likely all of them will make it at Rovers but they definitely put up a good account of themselves.
