  1. Can someone explain what Neill actually did to the fans? I watched the game but didnt see the celebration (was busy spilling my pint all over myself)
  2. SHEEEEEEEEEEEFKIIIIIIIII! 1-0 ! Shefki Kuqi rises high to meet Lucas Neill's cross and the ball goes in off his shoulder - although there is a suggestion that it may have brushed Morten Gamst Pedersen's arm on the way in. It is controversial, but Kuqi is credited with the strike.
  3. I was lucky enough to be mascot in the 1994/95 season home match vs Crystal Palace where we won 2-1. So i pretty much met everyone, Kenny, Alan Shearer (who was captain that day as sherwood and hendry were out) Uncle Jack, Atkins, Sutton, Gallacher (who suffered another broken leg that game just after returning from injury poor bloke), henning berg, graeme le sulk, david batty, super stu, jason wilcox, jeff kenna, ian pearce, timbo sherwood, robbie slater, tim flowers (who i had a nice chat with as we both went to the same secondary school) and a few others i cant remember. I also met that day, Tony Gale and Ray Houghton who were hovering around the dressing rooms stirring up a bit of banter, and the legendary (ahem) Gareth Southgate who was Crystal Palaces captain and played central midfield! Randomly i met Gerry Francis at a service station burger king a few years ago and had a short chat about what he was upto...think he was more interested in the whopper though Also met Mark Wright and John Barnes at a Liverpool vs Tranmere friendly donkeys of years ago. Must upload some of those mascot pictures someday...blink'n hilarious!
  4. Sure the defense wasn't tested tonight, that i agree with you. But to say Lucas CAN'T pick out a pass, is rubbish. the guy was spot on with most of his passes, if not all And did you forget he probably came the closest to scoring tonight for the rovers. He continually ran up the flank, but didnt have many options. Emerton didnt make it easy for him either. Emerton looked like his heart wasnt in it tonight. Err you obviously havent watched Lucas for the last few seasons then have you? Plus i counted at least four occasions where he played a long ball to someone, which didnt even find its target. Try rewinding the tape and watching the game again.
  5. Friedal - Unlucky not to save the penalty. Bolton had two shots all match. One was Dioufs first attempt at the penalty, the 2nd was the rebound shot. Says it all Neill - Not really tested defensivly, but his attacking game and passing game was poor to say the least. The lad really cant pick out a pass. Todd - Consistent as usual. Thought he handled Diouf brilliantly in the first half, with the elbow incident. Mokoena - Looked like he had good awareness and positioning. However sometimes looked a little weak against the bigger bolton players, and he didnt deal with the long balls very well. Weak heading. Matteo - Got caught out a few times again. Emerton - Drifted in and out of the game. Pederson - Dangerous set peices, but for the rest of the game see above. Savage - Performed a good cleaning up job in midfield. Won a few tackles, but passing wasnt always brilliant. I guess we have to wait for his full fitness to be back till we see the real Robbie. Thompson - Tried hard as usual, but just got crowded out in midfield. Tried to many fancy passes, which didnt pay off. Bothroyd - Weak, couldnt hold the ball, wheres the pace? Need i say more. Gally - A non entity. Didnt see him at all in the game. Subs. Stead - You can just tell the lad is severly lacking confidence. His first few touches and passes set a couple of bolton attacks, which didnt change much for the rest of the game. Johnson - looked promising. Didnt get into the game at all but the chance where he blazed past the defender only to have the shot saved was a shame.
  6. It will be a very sad day when matty leaves us, but it must be done. As others have said, thanks for the service to the club and memories.
  7. Words cant describe how p****d off i am with Diouf. Bloody disgusting decision from the ref. He had a great view of it and still managed to get conned. If he cant keep up with the pace of premiership football he should be knocked down a league or two.
  8. Den, i think Roy Wegerle should get a mention in the list. Maybe not the greatest striker for Rovers but a darn good servant, and a top bloke to match.
