  1. Seen a Facebook debate about this. Someone, claiming to be a qualified ref, is saying that it wouldn’t have been a foul if he had used his hands. The reason being is he made a genuine attempt to clear the ball, it then became a new phase of play and so he could legally have then used his hands. Said person is claiming this is why the ref came and spoke with him after. Ie telling him he could have used his hands because he made a genuine attempt to clear. It was a bit unusual for the ref to speak with him at that point. Appreciate you reffed at the highest level. Is there anything in what our FB ref is claiming or is he talking nonsense?
  2. He has played over 60 times in the premier league. Have any of our current squad played in the premier league? Or for that matter in any of the top 5 elite leagues in Europe? Off the top of my head I can’t think of any.
  3. I like JDT as a person. In the right club he will be a very successful manager. Even though we missed out on the play offs last season, it was an exciting season, particularly with the cup runs. I feel for him having to work under clowns. However we are going down with him in charge. He has lost the heart for it. The revelation he offered to leave in summer speaks volumes. Ive heard from a very credible source that he has lost the players and morale is at an all time low. Yesterday the QPR manager never stopped remonstrating on the touchline. Conversely JDT was hiding away in the corner, sinking into his chair. What kind of message does that send to the players? Tactically he has lost the plot. Anybody with half a football brain can see we need to tighten up at the back, go back to basics with aiming for a clean sheet and rebuild. Instead he persists with this inverted attacking full back philosophy; how many times did QPR exploit this? What were the substitutions about? How has Moran played a full game? How has Hyam played a full game? How has Sigurdson not been criticised by him for hiding away on the left? Hyam is becoming a massive disappointment and should have been hauled off. Mcfadezean did more on the sideline with his encouragement than Hyam did on the pitch. With 10 to go, and desperate for a goal, why not send on John Fleck? The lad has played at a higher level than anyone else in our squad. Instead he brings on subs who actually weakened the team. The epitome of his ego getting in the way…. I can’t possibly bring on Fleck because he isn’t up to speed with my system. Sadly JDT’s ego, with his stubbornness of playing ‘that way’, is sending us down and to oblivion.
  4. Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere on here. I’ve just been sent this from a fellow fan. I don’t know where he got it from. I don’t know if it is legit or not! But if it is, the club really is in trouble.
  5. A few of us got together yesterday for this. Walked out at half time straight back to the Vine pub! Won’t be rushing back to an away game with this current setup. Rovers must be the softest side in the entire football league. Apart from possibly Tronstad, none of the players put their bodies on the line. The only other one who did has been loaned out to Ipswich. What has happened to Dom Hyam? I thought he was a colossal hard defender. He’s anything but at the minute. He looks like an unfit uninterested Sunday league centre half who’s been out on the razzle all night. The lack of desire is epitomised by Callum Brittain. When he scored at Millwall I thought we had a real player. I’m speculating that he has a bit of an attitude problem. He was pathetic for their 2nd goal. He should have been hauled off for his half hearted attempt at closing & blocking the shot. Were Leonard, Moran & Sigurdson even on the pitch yesterday? When you pay £28 for a ticket, the least the players can do is give their all for the shirt & fans. They didn’t yesterday and that’s the most annoying bit.
  6. I wonder if there is a contingency plan to open another part of the ground such as 1 half of darwen end lower or blackburn end upper? I guess the problem will be staffing and catering. Sales have pleasingly picked up over the last couple of days. We don’t want a situation where there’s a real late surge and fans are turned away on the day.
  7. I know there is over a week to go…… but the online seat map shows ticket sales have been somewhat underwhelming so far. I honestly thought they would fly out.
  8. It is fair to say our club are being more hospitable with Watford fans, than what their club were with our fans earlier in the season!
  9. Amazing how fans see things differently. I thought he did quite well when he came on. He worked his socks off, chased everything, ran the lost causes etc. Just what the team needed with Gally going off. I like to see this in a striker as you will eventually get rewarded with chances. However on the way home, someone said he looked like he’d won a competition to be a footballer for the day! For the reasons stated above, he’s already a better player than likes of Vale and Butterworth in my opinion. They both used to infuriate me when they came on towards the end, do very little running, not harass the defenders and put in a poor work rate shift for the team. Sure it’s no coincidence they aren’t at the club anymore! This lad however showed at the very least he’s a team player.
  10. Struggling to see how this benefits Rovers in any way? I would have thought it’s quite the opposite
  11. My lad & I had a very enjoyable evening in the hospitality. I booked it the moment the draw was made as not part of 1875, and wanted to tick this ground off. It was only a small room, sold out very quickly and we had good company on a table of Rovers fans. Their manager did a pre match Q & A and surprised everyone when he said he had made 9 changes as the league match on Saturday is very important. Their fans weren’t happy about that as the match went on. Excellent performance. The future is bright with some of these kids coming through. If you are standing out against League 2 opposition on your debut or 2nd appearance, like all of ours did, you have a bright future in the professional game. As an aside, I thought our fans were unusually very quiet. I don’t recall their being one song. Indeed I thought the 20 or so Rovers fans in the home end hospitality seats were more animated, and the pre match itinerary included a directive not to display visual or audio support for the away team! At 7 nil down, the home fans were still singing. I just thought a record away win deserved a bit more atmosphere from those lucky enough to be there.
  12. Mods not usually one to tell tales…… but it seems I’ve got an imposter! And even worse’s he’s a Burnley fan! Any chance of sorting this?!
  13. I am the real david brent and I’ve posted on here for 20 years! Albeit not as much recently! I didn’t know about this imposter until now!
  14. Genuinely didn’t know that! I seldom come on here these days and just seen it now! I’ve been posting on here for 20 years; I’m going to have to change my profile name if possible!
  15. Took my 10 year old lad last night who, bar the league 1 promotion, has had very little to be proud about Rovers in his lifetime…… that changed last night! So refreshing to have a manager who cares about the FA Cup. Just watched it back on BBC, and equally refreshing to have an accomplished commentator in Guy Mowbray who had actually done his homework on Rovers. Both him & Leon Osman clearly really enjoyed how we played. Also surprised to see the negative comments re Morton on here. He put a hell of a shift in. Admittedly he loses the ball too often, but he did a lot of the dirty work last night.
  16. Whilst I agree, Waggott has already confirmed it’s not going to happen. He says there has been no approach by EFL & it’s too late to arrange police / staff to hold it
  17. 100% legit! It’s my cousin who bought them! JW upper (darwen end side). His mate posted it to footy scran site.
  18. Hope there’s something in this. Andy Bayes even commented on Radio Lancs tonight that he had expected VH to be going to Sunderland but it’s all gone rather quiet today.
  19. The Dack situation surely won’t be helping this. My understanding is Diaz & Dack are top mates if not best mates at the club. Freezing your best mate out of the team & playing inferior players in his place isn’t going to entice him to sign on the dotted line!
  20. No he is definitely a Rovers fan. His father is / was a big Rovers fan. Linked article from 5 years ago where he confirms himself that he’s Rovers. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/thats-football-phil-jones-understands-11105578.amp I’d be all for this if there is any substance in it. He’s made his money from football now. If he had anything about him, take a big pay cut & enjoy the rest of your football career before it’s over.
  21. My weekly rant about season tickets………. not only has our CEO reduced the club cash amount to a mere £15 & got rid of it for concessions, he has also scrapped the replenishing of it this season. It used to work out okay in the sense that you could spend a few quid on merchandise but at least you’d then earn a couple of quid off your next sale. I learned this having spent a small fortune on kits for my kids, and then when I went back for a 2nd visit hoping to get a couple of quid off, was told it’s been scrapped this season! This is penny pinching to the extreme! We are literally talking 5-10% I think it was & he’s got rid of it. It’s not even so much about the small saving; more feeling like you are at least a valued customer and getting a benefit from being a ST holder. Some players are on £15k plus a week. Waggott himself is reportedly on £300k plus per annum. Yet taking a couple quid benefit away from hard working season ticket holders, who are spending what little cash they may have these days back into Rovers, is a necessary cost cutting measure?! I just think it’s a catalogue of Waggott’s general disdain to ST holders. Expensive ST prices, scrapping of replenishing club cash etc. Again if others feel the same, hopefully someone in the FF may wish to query this with him?
  22. Enjoyed yesterday but wasn’t the same as 2 pals and their kids who I’ve sat with for a long time weren’t there…… reason being is they simply couldn’t afford this seasons ticket prices. Longstanding season ticket holders too. Fans who work hard all week should not be priced out of going to watch their local team play football on a Saturday afternoon. It makes my blood boil. All that’s going to happen is these kids will miss out on Rovers and with that you lose a generation of support. And yet they had the temerity to employ the gestapo to check on id to get into the ground causing massive queues in the heavy rain! I really wish the folk in the fans forum would put issues like this to Mr Waggott.
