  1. i bet MGP will get harshly analysed now if he does get a first-team place because of all the fuss
  2. come on people let's have a bit more optimism about these two new defenders. they are both captains/leaders and obviously must have impressed our staff, i doubt hughes would sign players just for the sake of signing. think of the bargain these two could end up to be compared to the high fees we'd most probably have to bid to capture gabbidon or dawson.
  3. yea i remember that too. i think it was the day souness left and brad was pulling out in his before the sky sports team stopped to chat to him. he didn't seem too fussed about souness and just wanted to focus on rovers' future. i also remember him criticising souness for something else but i can't remember.
  4. good to see us getting some much needed defensive reinforcements. hughes has probably been weighing up his transfer kitty and deemed it most unlikely that he will able to sign Savage and Gabbidon. a shame that we won't be after a player like Michael Dawson, i've seen him play several times and he has impressed me... but alas we're not the big-spending club we were years ago. i'd say Nelsen and Mokoena are worth taking a chance on, surely they can't be worse than amoruso or matteo...?
  5. Everton aren't exactly the new Arsenal but they will fight hard as a unit and i expect them to claim the 3 points at ewood. B/burn 1 Everton 3
  6. and this is proven by what? a handful of premiership games he's played? reid was poor for us in his first season and looked nothing special at all and also dominic matteo had an appauling start for us and was dropped but now both of them have been recalled. morten g-p hasn't been given a fair chance i think.
  7. excuse me but how do you know if i slated andy cole during his time here? i've only just found this website/forum.
  8. not neccessarily. i think heavy changes are needed to turn us into a good, consistent side. i don't want to jump on the morten g-p bandwagon but i am really eager to see him given a proper run in the side, at least then it will finally shut up a few people around here on either side of the argument one way or another. priority lies at centre-back. short- old reliable but the 'old' stands out more than the 'reliable'. todd- strong and sturdy but not the greatest centre back to don the blue-and-white halved shirt. nissa- simply frustrating. one minute he looks so promising and solid and then below-standard in the next. one thing is for sure, he should only be a full-back in tough games away from home. at ewood we need a full-back who can get up and down the flank and support the attack sufficiently. matteo- doesn't fill me with any hope when i've seen him this season. there is a reason leeds got relegated and that was 'cos of their appauling defence. apparantly he had a good game at full back today but the jury is still out. amoruso- can take free kicks, has passion and works hard but i'm afraid the italian stallion lacks pace desperately and is prone to mistakes. also he has a troubling injury and i see his rovers career not lasting much longer. hopefully these trialists can impress and add some much needed energy to the defence. also, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the reason gray has been dropped is just down to footballing reasons...?
  9. but that's what we have to ask ourselves- how come we just didn't have it in us to defeat a poor crystal palace side. we desperately miss king cole, he gave us such good flowing movement up front and his link-up play with Stead was really blossoming. i think stead really misses an intelligent forward up front with him. bothroyd is nothing compared to cole, gallagher is bright but fades out after awhile, the real matt jansen please stand-up, dickov works himself into the ground but isn't as intelligent as andy cole. i suppose as a positive we didn't lose and kept a clean sheet but we need consistent victories. grinding out draws against weaker teams will not keep us up people.
