  1. Well, well done you lot. I hope for those who came down you only bumped into decent Pompey fans As for D'urso, lets hope he never referees another game in his life, or better still, dies in a horrible road accident I thought the game went as expected, 2 below average teams kicking lumps out of each other for 90 mins. From what i saw, i reckon a draw would have been a fair result, but we all have to take the highs with the lows, thought pederson took the goal well. You dont have any spare midfielders do you? we appear to be selling all of ours. Do you have to play the Scummers again? If you do, could you take the 3 points from them please? See ya next season
  2. Hi. Well i'm a Pomponian, i've posted a few details of how to get there, what to do etc etc in the "away" part of this board. I've been around for a few days, trying to guage what you lot are like Its mainly something i'm working on for a Pompey forum i'm a member of, i know many of you lot wont be interested in interacting with fans of other clubs, but i hope that some are. If its pubs you're looking for, we have a great section on Pompey pubs at Pompey Online Of course we have a message board also, at the moment we're in the process of making a section exclusive to "awayers" complete with a welcoming message and all that jazz (it should be setup in the next day or so) apart from the pubs in the list, theres always the Good companion, where fans always seem to mix well generating a good beer-fuelled atmosphere.
  3. Travel. (where the hell is Portsmouth) Take the M6 to Brum, then the M42 South, then Pick up the M40 to London, Go anti-clockwise on the M25 towards Heathrow, follow this round to Junction 10 the A3 Guildford, the A3 goes all the way to Portsmouth and is 99% dual carriageway. Travelling by rail, make sure to get off at Fratton Station, its 10 minutes walk from there Getting to the Ground (I cant see any flippin' ground) Fratton Park is at the end of the A2030 (eastern road) Just follow it to the traffic lights right at the bottom and you should be able to see the floodlights Away fans (how plush is my seat) Away fans get to sit in the Milton End terrace with seats bolted onto it (no expense spared here) there isnt any covering, so you get lovely unobstructed views of the sky bring plenty of warm clothing (my belly is rumbling) Food is crap and it runs out quick, bring ya lunchbox and flask. Staying in Portsmouth (No way am i driving all the way back without some beer, i'll do it tomorrow) There isnt an enormous amount of cheap accomodation in Portsmouth. If you want something near to the Stadium, however i did find this Southsea Hotels Try anyone along Waverley road would be the best bet. Pre-match beer. The good companion has a good mix of home and away fans, food is o.k here, and the beer isnt too bad either, thats along the Eastern road so you should drive straight past it. Alternatively, go along Tangier road (off Eastern Road) Theres 2 pubs along there The Baffins and the Tangier, not bad for a quieter pre-match pint or 2 (about 20 mins walk though) There are pubs around the ground, The Shepherds Crook, Milton arms, Pickwicks. And there are a few by Fratton Station, but those will be mainly Pompey. Though pompey fans are generally good natured, we do have an element of neanderthals. Stick to the Good Companion if you can i would advise. Nights out (we won and i want some beer) Best place for a night out would be Either the Guildhall walk area, or the Gunwarf Quays, both offer loads of places to drink and eat and its usually very busy. If you dont want to stray too far from your Hotel, Albert road has a lot to offer in the way of food joints, quite a few pubs as well. Try and Avoid Southsea seafront if you can, though generally o.k, it has been known to kick off big-time. Albert road/Gunwharf Quays or Guildhall walk are the best bet. Somewhere quieter (i'm a bit old me) Theres a b&b just outside the city Corner House Hotel Sits on Top of Portsdown hill, theres a couple of pubs nearby for a nice relaxing pint, and though its a bit of a walk, Cosham offers much in the way of food and drink, and it also has a rail link to the City. A taxi fare from here to the Stadium though is around a tenner each way. And thats about it, though i wont be wishing you any luck for Saturday, i do wish you luck for the rest of the season. Regards Dean
  4. Hi. Pompey fan here Some good memories you got there Btw JJ isnt our manager, we got some geezer called Velimir Zajec, Joe's just our dentist Only joined up to give you lot some tips about staying in our fair old City. Where to go if you want to have a decent time , or where to go if you want to get yourself stabbed Anyway, i'll go post it in the "away" travel board. Is anybody interested in giving a match opinion? Although i'm not a member of the admin team at a website i frequent, i am working on a small project which does involve getting the opinion of an away fan Pompey Online Main site is down at the moment, but the forum is still up if you're interested Regards Dean
