  1. 1864roverite, I'd rather people moaned, talked crap and booed (figuratively speaking of course) on here than did likewise down at Ewood. Don't want to fall out with you, a fellow Rovers fan, but what irked me about your post (maybe I'm ultra sensitive or maybe just plain homesick?) was your insinuation that if you didn't/don't go to games you are not a real supporter (as highlighted in your quote). Some of the poor sods dotted around the world probably...nay definitely...support Rovers with more passion than a lot of those with season tickets. Back to football, I blame the loss of the three D's for our struggles this season-Duff, Dunn and Dizzy (in that order), we have no creativity or width without them IMHO
  2. Your argument is equally negative, boring and offensive. Not eberyone can get to midweek games mate, which REALLY pisses me off when the original fixture was on a Saturday. Are you not allowed an opinion just because you watched the game on the telly? As it happens I disagree with the 'sack Souness' argument, but the person who started this thread has every right to do so, whether he/she went to the bloody game or not!
  3. .....and people accuse me of being a moaner and pessimistic! What's obvious from the recent games is that Rovers aren't performing well while Celtic have raised their game considerable since we played them. I think we are in for a big letdown on Thursday night because we cannot score goals for love nor money at the moment. Don't agree about Celtic. They had been winning their games comfortably before the first leg (apart from the old firm 3-3 draw). After the game against us they tore apart a flu ridden Aberdeen side who were truly woeful, then struggled against Partick Thistle in the CIS cup (admittedly with an understrength side out) then didn't play particularly well today against Dundee United. They still have the same problem of lack of competition in Scotland but my worry is they'll be more prepared for us this time.
  4. Although a Darwen Blue I've lived in Glasgow for a few years now and am married into a Celtic family so I've had the opportunity to watch both Rovers and Celtic close up on a very regular basis. I must admit I was shocked at the way the game went on Thursday. I fully expected Rovers to be on the back foot for most of the game and hoping to catch Celtic on the break. I'm obviously gutted at the result (not to mention getting dog's abuse from my in-laws/work colleagues etc) but if Celtic don't change their players and formation for the 2nd leg it could be a memorable night for me, and one which I'll be able to dine out on for a good few years. We had to sit and watch the match in the Celtic end, which was VERY interesting listening to the home fans' comments. One guy turned to his mate and said "I wonder how much they (pointing to the Rovers fans) pay for their season tickets? Man, could you imagine being able to watch passing like that every week?" We took that as a massive compliment. It was interesting to see that neither Lambert or Lennon played against Aberdeen yesterday, I hope he was resting them for the 2nd leg because those 2 are Rovers' best chance of going through-they aren't quick enough to cope with the tempo of our game. The word up here though is that Didier Agathe won't play in the return and he'll draft in either Jackie MacNamara or Crainey to tighten things up a bit. I can't wait
