  1. Ronnie was one of my heros as I was growing up. In the late 50's early 60's us kids would wait for autographs after the game. Ronnie would be stand for ages signing, until, he'd say, 'I'ved signed three of yours, let me go home'. A very calm, cultured player and if he was playing today, he would command a place in any premier league team. RIP Ron
  2. So very very sad. My condolences to John's family and friends. RIP.
  3. I was nosing around in Gerrards auction rooms in St Annes, today, and they have an item of interest to us Rovers fans. Lot 805. 1925 Jubilee celebration dinner program and 56 autographs, including, Healless and Puddefoot. It is valued at £300 to £350. Search 'Gerrards'. There is a picture and a fuller discription. A bit pricey for me but I thiught somebody might like it. Auction is on Friday. Finally, I have no connection (other than a customer) with Gerrards.
  4. I remember Joe Haverty signing from Arsenal. 'nippy winger' sums him up right. He signed the only picture I had of him anyway. RIP Joe.
  5. Ever tried ''Find the Rovers'' during the opening sequence ? Not easy. I've written complaints as well, but I might as well have sent them up the chimney. I don't bother watching it anymore, just record it and the fast forward to the goals. Glad I saw this topic, I thought it was just me being paranoid.
  6. Out of those I only heard of ONE person that actually got a ticket. This was my brother-in -law who got one ticket that he WON in a raffle at the YMCA where he was a player for the football team. I never actually met anybody else that got one. Where did they all go? You tell me! I got one. And it was legit via the draw. And, I went to every round except the semi.
  7. Once seen never forgotten. RIP Cheyenne
  8. I liked Toddy and even forgave his misdemeanours, BUT, when he walked halfway up the pitch and headbutted that spurs player, UNFORGIVEABLE. He let everybody down and for me, one step too far. He's Gotta go.
  9. I thought that as we are a town and in lancashire it was worth singing about. To the tune of 'Lassie from Lancashire' We are Blackburn of Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire Just a small town in Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire There is non Fairer or Rairer than Rovers. The pride of Lancashire. We are Blackburn of Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire We're the town that won premier league Thats one more than Liverpool There is non fairer or rairer than Rovers The pride of Lancashire. I think that this is one that everyone can sing, no swearing and no mention of them up the road. I commend this song to the Blackburn End.
  10. I think there is far too much doom and gloom going on here. It's time to be a bit positive. So, the attendance isn't great. Since getting the push I can't get there too often now. But I will a few times. Reasons to be cheerful part 1. We are THE most sucessful town team in the country. All but 5 of the prem teams are sad little townies. they are sad that although the have huge crowds, they never win anything. Everton villa spurs would love our record. This little town team qualified for europe. gary linnaker chokes every time we win, cause he turned down a great ewood adventure. the london press hate our guts and want us relegated. These are things to be proud of. Please do not expect to be loved by the media Now all together now, to the tune of lassie from lancashire, We are Blackburn of Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire, Just a small town in Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire There is non fairer or rairer than Rovers The pride of Lancashire We are Blackburn of Lancashire Blackburn Rovers of Lancashire We're the town that won premier league Thats one more than liverpool (could be changed to 'over there' with pointing gesture) There is non fairer or rairer than Rovers The pride of Lancashire. Now, if those people who could, are so sad they don't want to be a part of history, so be it.
  11. Nice one USA. This was a terriffic game. Big crowd and an electric atmosphere. And special memories for me. I'd just come back after living abroad for 3 years. A mate I had left behind was a plymouth fan. I sent him every cutting and report I could get my hands on. Never heard from him since. Great great game, it had everything. Despair, hope, great goals and total elation. Hickman, (goals 3 and 5) left Rovers for Torquay early in the following season.
  12. Best was good, but Bryan Douglas was better.
