  1. If we can't see the writing on the wall, we are blind! Venkys have never sacked anyone for results, maybe coyle but gave him too long. So the first sign of a competent management team & they dumped them, why? Because the cretins around the club want to save themselves. I think I am at my lowest as a rovers fan. I really struggle to see how this turns into anything other than lower league obscurity!
  2. I'm not convinced GB or JDT can be blamed for the mess we find ourselves in. It really appears to me like the incompetency comes from the top down. GB does not strike me as the type to allow the same mistake 2 years in a row. He wasn't even selected by Waggot, who faffed around for months looking Mowbrays successor. JDT was GBs idea and was tied down within days of GB starting. This feels like a major disjoint between the old guard & the new upstarts. I could imagine that the GB & JDTs ambition is seen as naive to the incumbents. I imagine they have not been happy with the new ideas & just want to maintain the status quo. After all, if the new idea's are successful, then thier tenure has been proven a failure. Meanwhile the owners are so detached, this in fighting goes unchecked. Just my take, no knowledge of the inner workings whatsoever. .....one piece of info I did hear is from someone I met on holidays last year, had ties to the club which I checked up on, told me that venkys wanted out. I know he is very well connected but i couldn't figure out why they wouldn't just put the club on the market, so I just brushed it off.
  3. One thing I have noticed through Venkys tenure is that I have become less & less drawn to the football. The drama sucks you in & takes over your interests, be that at the expense of football or other things in your life. Does anyone else find their focus on Blackburn rover wain after a transfer window shuts? Summer & winter windows have become filled with anxiety that trickles into the fabric of your life, once the window closes & you think you can breathe, the drama spills out to the subsequent days, weeks & months. We are facing an excruciating 4 months until season end & only for the next installment to begin. I want to know what is happening to my club but it is painfully apparent that it drags my mood down. So, I had an idea today, would it be worth creating a thread that tracks events as they happen, facts, timelines, quotes & the occasional plausible rumour. No comments or discussion, just to try to piece together how this mess plays out? Whatever comes of this thread, be it a book, an unlikely Netflix documentary or simply a place to point any fan who believes venkys are competent owners who have the best interests of Blackburn rovers at heart. At the very least, we would have something to look at in generations to come & remember, "never again!" Is this something that the moderators would think is possible or could facilitate?
  4. Even if we sign Ronaldinho & resurrect Maradona from the grave, it should be very clear when reading the orlando city fan post. We are a shell of a club & will never achieve under these owners! Remember when Transfer deadline day was exciting? ......for all the right reasons
  5. THIS!!!!! This is the best insight to the last 14 years i have seen. Concisely explaining the farcical nature of how the club has been run in a single breath. This needs to trend by any means necessary!
  6. If GB feels that the fault does not lie with him, he should offer an ultimatum to the club. Sack whoever is responsible or I walk. Allows him to maintain dignity. JDT should ditch the "project" & do everything in his power to reach the play offs. That would appear as a minor miracle given the circumstances he had to work under & should be enough to get him a good club!
  7. JPVH would mean so much more than a bolstering the squad with competition at centre half, it would lift the players as they know him & (hopefully) respecthis effortsfrom last year! It would galvanise support just when it's needed. If ever there was a special case...
  8. 4 competitive wins on the bounce turns sour very quickly, doesn't it? I guess its true that you are only as good as your last game! It really appears that the delays & indecisiveness in recruitment has carried on from the Mowbray era! Suggests that neither Mowbray, Broughton or JDT have any control over improving the team other than using the academy!
  9. Imagine what a fit & committed BBD could do this year? It would be great if we could keep him! from the signs of the first 2 games this team has the ability to challenge for play offs. The biggest problem is strength in depth which will be our downfall if we don't add to the ranks! Van hecke feels like a no brainer, we clearly need something new at left back but I have no idea who we should go for. After that, a couple to pad out the squad & I'll be very happy with this summer.
  10. Agreed but the ones we have had in the last 10 years have not led to any real success. Without them we would have definitely been weaker but if we tightened up the defence & added a couple of extra goals to those playing in midfield, wide or the new front 4 formation, would our league position suffer? It's a gamble in my eyes but it does represent a change from the formula that has not brought much success.
  11. It occurred to me recently that we have always had decent goalscorers at the club during the venkys era! Rhodes, Graham, Dack, Armstrong, BBD (more recently) have all challenged at the top of the goalscoring tables without rovers making much of an impact on the league. Our problem has been getting the rest of the team to contribute. Now, I believe a goalscorer will be the talisman that boosts the whole team but maybe its time to sell the prized goalscorer to strengthen other areas!?! If we sold BBD & brought in van hecke, bowler, got a decent LB & took a chance on a cut price number 9, how would that sit with people?
  12. Im expecting it to take a few transfer windows before we get the desired balance but if we could pull off styles, bowler & van hecke, I think it would be a massively successful window! BBD is the difficult one, I'm feeling that he plays out his contract or he leaves at the end of the window leaving us with no proven goalscorer. That would be a struggle but I still think we would have enough to stay up. Dack will prove his worth, either with his quality forcing him into the first team or as an alternative to the other forward players. We are definitely light but miracles don't happen over night, patience may pay off!
  13. Really? I can't say I have seen a lot of him. Granted the contract situations are very different but I see how he warrants double the valuation of BBD other than having an "exotic" name for a bit longer! Ben is without doubt our main goal threat at the moment, the most likely player to score 20 goals this season. Take those goals away, give forest their share & spend half the remainder if we're lucky? Ben was a special investment and should continue to be! Give him a bump, it will cost but if he starts the season like last year we could also be looking a special return for that investment!
  14. That seems quite cheeky from West ham, I mean £30million + for someone who is arguably an equivalent talent to BBD? And the paper is saying Ben is worth half that? I know it's paper talk & to be taken with a pinch of salt but we should be looking for a much better deal for our prized asset!
  15. My hope is that Greg has a plan to develop youth to its maximum potential. Set up an environment where youth players feel that they have a chance. I dont think our budget will stretch to plugging immediate gaps with experience. so this will take a year or so to see the benefits. This year will all depend on JDTs ability to setup the team that doesn't lose games & can collect home wins! A key element will be togetherness of the squad & keeping the fans onside which he has spoken about. It appears that Gus Williams fits that model & he is the first step in recruiting young players with the right attitude. JDT looks happy to develop those players but as he said, he needs players to work with. I know this is a glass half full perspective but I'm trying to stay positive, as I think GB & JDT need a chance to realise the vision!
  16. The buck has to stop with waggot for letting these 3 players leave for free. Whether they are worthy of a place in the first team or not, they had value. Waggots decisions led to us loosing them with no return! This is the only way for the club to make money is to create assets which our CEO has not done!
  17. GB & JDT seem wise enough to know that they cannot just flood the first team with academy players & it clicks overnight. I expect that GB will go about assessing the academy for players who he thinks he can make first team regulars in 2-3 years. Then propose buying players who can go straight into the first team squad who will have a sell on value. Leaving venkys with an investment with a realistic return! This would be the safest option for the new management team to get off on the right footing!
  18. Regarding Sam, if you asked yourself if you could go back over the last 11 years & re-appoint Sam, would you have done it? I know what my answer would be!
  19. So it's been a long process & we all know about the last 12 years, it may be the optimist in me but everything about this feels right! After all optimism is the the curse that all football fans have to endure! So, what are the positive signs? A young charasmatic manager with recent success, an illustrious career in football who is the pitch side figurehead primarily focused on the team & tactics. A no.2 who has a wealth of experience including at championship level. A new conditioning coach, god knows we need something different given the injuries we have had at critical times in recent years. A DoF who will can focus on the future of the team, contracts & scrounging for cash. Allowing the manager deal with the next match. This is a new management team that may click together & force the clubs attention on football, something that has been lost over the last 12 years! They may also be able to force the "hangers-on" out. I have not allowed myself get excited about rovers for a long time, (maybe for a few hours last December!) But I have the rose tinted glasses on & I am officially EXCITED!!
  20. I don't get to see rovers play as much these days as we are rarely on TV but I've been a member of this site for many years & reading between the lines the the club appears to have settled into the enevitible mediocrity of the venkys era. There is no willingness to fight for the club, the fans or themselves. This comes, not from the manager, but the very top, the owners take no interest, have not fir years & are never likely to! The club is like the 8th child in a family of ten, we just can't find our place. Unfortunately, speculating who should be the next manager is a blind attempt to create a bit of excitement! Experience of this era tells me that we will get an adequate name who won't overly excite & will have very little chance to progress the team because he cant get full backing & a drive from the owners. What is really needed is a figurehead at the top who will drag this club back to where it should be with a philosophy & a fire in thier belly.
  21. I had a look through his pictures on the twitter account, anyone else see the Dominos feast he went through on May 6th?? around about the time we were being relegated!! must have been comfort eating!! I would like to see goodwillie get a run in the side & show what he can do but the guy seems to be missing the point here, you can have all the talent in the world but without dedicating every second of your life to being the best player you can be you are wasting your opportunity!!
  22. I really do hate the way football prima donnas act nowadays, I would love if Rovers stood up to Benni, made him honor his contract & effectively ended his world cup dreams & his career!! I know this would cost us financially & we cannot afford that, also having him around the place would be disruptive! However, it would bring our club into the spotlight & show players that we are not willing to stand for this. The players are not bigger than the club, if it were handled in the right manner & the media were to pick up on it, it can only be of benefit to us & smaller clubs like ours!!
