Leeds have the best squad at this level and I would probably suggest that Leicester have at least as good a squad as Southampton.

I know it’s like comparing apples and apples, but I’m sure I read Leicester have the most expensive squad ever to play championship football. They were head and shoulders above everyone else before Christmas. I’d put Leicester and Leeds in a bracket above Saints personally. I still think Leicester win the league.

  2. Just reading some of the posters still flogging the Mowbray narrative, in time you'll come to realise the guy did a decent job here and if this was a normal club in any way, would have turned a massive profit on players and probably got us promoted with the proceeds.

Getting back to Eustace, he's working with the same players, the same depleted squad (Granted with players coming back) and the same bullshit going on behind the scenes (Players contracts). It all doesn't lend itself to a cohesive approach to winning football matches.

He's a decent manager, but the odds are stacked against him, just like JDT, who was the best manager to come here under these idiots and they lied to him.

VENKYS OUT - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

  3. Just moving away from the petty point scoring, today’s result was massive in the context of the relegation battle. Eustace has inherited a mid table squad low on quality and lacking in confidence.

Today's result was massive and all credit to the manager, players and his back room team, nobody saw that coming.

    Onwards and upwards.

In the first half Dolan was ineffective. In the second half Dolan was OK. Bye the way, what is this unique ability that Dolan posseses ?

I've told you in the piece you quoted, he has the ability to get you out of your seat with his attacking play at times, not many of the current crop can do that.

He was very good yesterday, hope you enjoyed his performance despite the result.

How many wanted Rothwell selling to Bournemouth at the time ? The board would have erupted. Ditto selling Brererton when he was having his purple patch. Not many on here said let’s sell at the time. Let’s have it right.

Who cares what this board thinks?

Let the manager manage, he should have been allowed to sell Rothwell when he wanted to, its as simple as that.

He must have had some idea of what a shambles we were on and off the pitch but maybe Nixon was right for once  when he said "Managers like working".

They also imo generally have large egos and a healthy amount of faith in their own ability to turn situations round.

Would be interesting to know at this stage if Eustace privately thinks he's made a mistake. I suppose from his point of view the worst that can happen is he gets sacked, most of the shit sticks to Venky's, he gets paid off and away he goes again on the managerial merry-go-round.

I agree with Nixon for once!

I heard Troy Deeney saying yesterday that Eustace knows this is a massive uphill task, that is why he took the job.

But he must of known what venkyscum are all about

He'd probably never heard of them, but I'm sure he did some homework before accepting the job, but in football, as in any industry, you take things at face value. He was promised of funds and full control, those promises were quickly renegaded upon and the rest of history.

I respect the guy for walking, just as I did with Lambert, you tell lies to the manager and you get what you deserve.

If you think there's a relevance then that's up to you, to me it has no relevance whatsoever to what is happening today.

Back in the present,it depends how bad a job someone thinks Tomasson did IN THE END.

I think Eustace took over a complete mess from Tomasson and if he keeps us up he'll have done well. It matters not how good the football was last year, he didn't give a damn in the end.

You're looking in the wrong place to lay that blame, JDT was lied to and let down by the owners and CEO, its a familiar pattern. Eustace seems a good guy, the Birmingham fans loved him, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, he's not a magician.

If we go down or stay up, it matters not one jot, the decline of the club will continue until the owners sod off, owners that judge success by selling academy players, promotion isn't even in the equation.

I have a soft spot for Town having lived there for 5 years but I don’t think you will make it, you looked a very poor side yesterday. Aside from Pears chucking one in, you created next to nothing and were wasting time from that moment onwards. We deserved more but once again got nothing from the officials.

The positive for Town is that when you find yourself still in the Championship next season, you have everything now in place to move on and progress.

Interesting take on Ipswich, I thought they looked a good side, especially travelling with the ball, they pinged it around really well and always looked dangerous.

It is just a shame that someone with such poor skills is able to make 150 Rovers appearances by the age of 22

Does your seat face the pitch rigger?

He’s a decent Championship player that has a unique ability, that on occasions, gets you on the edge of your seat with his ability.

You need to remember the Venables, Robson, Ericsson days when we had quality players, we also lagged behind European clubs.

How many times have Germany won Euros and World Cup? They’ve never had the best league or best players in the world, I’m not buying that damo.

Id say we have a more rounded and balanced set of midfielders than we have ever had. Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Foden compliment and link up each other much better than previous golden generations... (Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard and even Joe Cole while individually brilliant all were ultimately too similar to really work together well). Add Kane in there as the main striker it's a really good midfield and attack.

But... I don't think any of our other strikers are on Kanes level. And as others have said our central defence and keeper are poor by historical standards.

That said Southgate has tended to overachieve, and this is his best squad yet. So feel like we will continue to do well.

Shearer was better than Kane in his pomp.
