  1. I don't read that much which is a shame, but the best book i ever read is 'My Autobiography' by Charles Chaplin. A real insight into how someone from a very poor background can be changed by money. It's very interesting to see how confused he was at the money he was making at such a young age and you get a sense that he didn't know what to do with it. Also his battle with U.S. authorities is engaging and very honest. I'am a huge Chaplin fan but I think non fans can find something in this book. 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' by Robert Pirsig is a life changing book. If you are interested in philosophy give it a go. If you are not interested in philosophy give it a go.
  2. Saw this at the weekend and throught it was very good. An honest depiction of the revolution which showed the good aspects but also the bad. It was inetersting to see how so many people joined the cause when they only entered the country with 82 revolutionaries. Del Toro was born to play Che and does a great job. Glad its subtitled aswell. Defo go and see even if your politics don't support the cuase it depicts.
  3. Top Five live bands I have seen are :- 1 - At The Drive In - 1st and I think only UK tour. 2 - Slayer - At Ozzfest 1998. 3 - Kings of Leon - M.E.N last week. 4 - Beastie Boys - M.E.N. in the round can't remember the year. 5 - Naplam Death - at the Witchwood in Ashton under Lyne. would be interesting to hear other peoples top five.
  4. Try 'Becasue of the Times' their third and best album. Some of the tracks on 'Youth and Young Manhood' their first album are brilliant aswell but very different from what they are putting out now. They have evolved and this will ensure they are with us for years to come.
  5. Anyone else see the Kings of Leon this week in Manc? I went it was pretty awesome. Can't get over the fact that these guys are 26 years old and have such an amazing array of songs already. Only down side was no Red Morning Light and Mollys Chambers was too slow. However tunes like Fans and On Call were possibley some of the best tracks I have ever heard played live by any band. Think these guys will just get better and better for years to come.
  6. Never has the 'There's only One Jack Walker ' chant been more significant in the game. Its my fave chant and I would ask everyone when Man City, Chelsea, Villa, Man Utd, Newcastle and Liverpool turn up to our ground, its given a real blast directed at the away fans. They can only imagine what it is like for the club to be owned by a man like Jack.
  7. No but it wouldn't actually take my enjoyment out of watching Rovers. However we deserve to be in the prem.
  8. The third division was and is a very light place and enjoyable.
  9. No mate, the manager and the players had the opportunity to secure European football on the last day against an as good as relegated Brum. They failed to produce and that had nothing to do with the board. Hughes took the club as far as he could take it, not as far as our club can go. Semi finals can turn into finals, just look at Portsmouth.
  10. Something along the lines of 'You Sold Your Arse To Chickboy...Arse to A Chickboy'
  11. Good on Ya Darth. Also just to point out (not that folk on here need it pointing out) Walkers money bought more than good players it dragged our club into a comfortable position with a fantastic stadium and top end training ground. I read David Battys autobiograpy and he said train sessions were 'dog sh*t for goal posts' before the facilities got sorted.
  12. Can someone confirm with me that i have just watched the highlights of todays game and MOTD2 did not even show our goal in the post match analysis. I can't beleive that they missed it out. Great interplay between Roberts and Cruz and certainly worth a comment as it was the turning point of the game. What is goign on. Instead we were treated to looking at Pompey's reserve keeper pulling off some greats saves and making a lot of goofs. Oh and the half chances Defoe had. Its not even the big four that you have to play to be completly over looked. You just have to be Blackburn.
  13. The amount of coverage or our importance isn't the point mate, its the clear one sided views on issues during games involving the top four and particular players. Its not just Rovers I see other teams suffer the same crap week in week out. MOst of my mates support teams like Bolton and Everton they see exactley the same. The best way is to switch the tripe off.
  14. Are they having a laugh with that response? I wonder how many fans they send that one out to who write in about exactley the same issues. At no point do they address any issues in your complaint. Football journalism is apparently based on opinions is what I picked up on. Not the facts then. In the post match chat they didn't even take a 2nd look at our goal or the foul on Bents whcih could have seen Rooney sent off. I have given up on MOTD I avoid it at all costs. I actually only watched it Sat because I wanted to see how one sided the coverage was. I just settle for the goals on sky sports news on a sunday.
  15. Wow some pretty strong views on the Mac here...I still really rate the guy but understand why people get angry with his apparent lack of effort. Many have said this is due to the kind of player he is. Just a note tho I remember reading an interview with Henry where he said that as a striker you have to watch the game and sometimes let it pass you by to understand how each defender plays, holds himself and how they read the game. Then with this information you can take full advantage of any attack. I think this maybe true with Benni. He is a very relaxed player and very nautral on the ball which also gives the impression of laziness. With regards to Hughes' explanation about Benni not being at the Sunderland game, I think if Benni was any kind of moaning spoilt player he would have come out and made his feelings known. To my knowledge nothing came out of the Benni camp which suggest he was in agreement with Hughes' comments. Lets see how he gets on I for one think he is a fantastic professional and we are lucky to have in our team.
