  1. Gears of War 2 ................ its the dogs gonads!! Suggest all you guys rush out and get a 360 and get on line to help the COGs win the battle with the Horde. Seriously, all new weapons and brilliant multiplayer modes - this will be in my drive for the next 12 months or so.
  2. WOOOOOOOOOWHOOOOWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHEYYYYYYYYYYY! Just 50 days to go until Gear 2 is released. THE game release of 2008! Read it and weep you PS3 suckahs!
  3. footballers are c u n t s and you lot are jealous!!! Just get over it you moaning sods! if you don't like it ................ don't go and don't pay for sky! simple as
  4. It aint short on veteran difficulty! Man that is hard (at least on xbox).
  5. Its always been about supply and demand. We cannot win on fanbase! Simple fact. I have thought for a long time the problem that we have is that tickets are always easy to get and so have no "value". The only way to change this is to increase demand. Extremely difficult when the market is so small. Lets charge little and fill the ground. Create a real atmosphere - the PEOPLES CLUB!!! Maybe extreme low price would also attack the price-premium that more popular clubs think they can charge? Man Utd are probably more vulnreable to price-drop that BRFC!? We should look to change the market rather than fight a losing battle. Sureley the Glaziers would panic if the competition was to charge a fiver!! If everyone paid just £1 to watch premiership ......................... BRFC would make just £30k and Manyoo would make £70k. I could handle that.
  6. I was looking at this thread a few weeks back and the link to the "top 50 most influential albums" of all time. Of course we can argue the toss about that from now until the first cowed-landing on mars but the list struck me as surprisingly "arty" and very much a pet-view of the author favourite bands. So after thinking about it I decided that there were some glaring omissions ............. Sex Pistols - NMTB. How can the Clash's London Calling be in the top50 most influential with no mention of NMTB? Its just crazy. The Pistols influenced a whole generation spawning more bands and genres that anything since the start of RnR. I know that people will talk about The New York Dolls and The Ramones but ............. comeone thats just complete ######! Crass - Feeding of the 5000 / Stations of the Crass. OK so werent mozart but this band have been tremendously influential in music and politics. So much activism was a direct result of kids listening to their message. The whole Stop the City campaign (and the years of anti-globalisation protests that followed) are down to Crass. And although I can now laugh at some of their rants, they were surprisingly perceptive of lifestyle trends in many of their messages - consumerism; celebrity cults; etc - as well as the the depressing political landscape that we had/have in this country - "LEFT WING RIGHT-WING YOU CAN STUFF THE LOT" "DO THEY OWE US A LIVING? OF COURSE THEY F*****G DO!" Killing Joke - Killing Joke (1980) / Killing Joke (2003). For those that like it dark, heavy and loud! Still producing the goods after nearly 30 years. The last 2 albums are possibly as good as anything they have produced. KJ have influenced so many bands its unbelieveable - from Metallica to Nirvana. And Jaz Coleman continues to staddle the line being genius and maniacal derangement! Their first 1980 album still stands as a masterpience after 27 years. However I found this quote on t'net about their 2003 albums and I couldnt agree more ..... "The new eponymous Killing Joke album is an awesome reaffirmation of the primal raw power that made the band's name way back in the post punk years. It's a dark, dangerous, feral piece of work - precision production, and powered by some incredible drumming from Dave Grohl. It restates just what a rock album should sound like in 2003 and, sound-wise, is the yardstick for every rock band in the world to measure themselves against."
  7. Some players put in more effort than other players. I might legitimately call someone a lazy b******. My neighbour might call the same player lazy black b*******. It would also be true but would also betray his racist tendancies. What matters here (from Jans viewpoint) is not whether the player is lazy or not, but whether the people criticising are racist. If they have not made any refrence to race in their criticism then how can it be racist?? There are many racists out there, and many others (myself included) with prejudices of those "outside our group" but Jan is making wild presumptions in this case. BTW my own view is that: Cole - had a bit of a personality problem that sometimes meant he sulked and didnt give all that he could. Yorke - after winning the treble couldnt be bothered anymore and just wanted to have a laugh (although he is the most naturally gifted player I have seen in a Rovers shirt) McCarthy - sometimes his flicks dont work but when they do its great. Still feel there may be a little something lurking in his subconscious following all the summer speculation. Dickov - extremely hard working making the absolute maxiumum of his ability Ward - hard working but with no talent Ferguson - not hard working, who knows if he had any real talent? MGP - cant be lazy as covers more ground than 99% players in prem. Just frustrating with his inconsistency.
  8. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! So the guy wasnt a typical thicko jock. You think he's a bender! In you're next posts you'll be slating the daft cockneys for being media sheep and booing DB. You are pathetic, hypocritical idiots. Can't you see that the guy suffered some terrible abuse? Its obvious where his anger came from. Wonder how much winding-up David Batty had been responsible for in the Blackburn dressing room? Its easy for me to believe that "thinking" people like GLS are not the destructive force in football dressing rooms that accolades goes to the weak and feeble minded like Robbie Fowler. In my experience its the homophobic ones that have the strongest tendancies. Just to clarify ...... den removed a previous post that I quoted so it no longer appears here. I presume beacuse the preveious post was possibly defamatory. It was much more accusatory than the one quoted above. In case anyone is wondering why I have had a bit of a "hissy fit" above.
  9. Campaign is good fun but multiplayer stinks! It looks great but for me best part about it is the dialogue - outrageously foul-mouthed and extremely funny. In one of the film clips between levels our hero, Jackie, reminisces about being down in the subway. Somewhat like ...... "Ahh I had my first kiss down here at 15. Hooker by the name of Candy!" pause ...... "I remember she crossed her legs .... and broke my sunglasses!" Hilarious. Downside is that my son has to sneak gameplay time when his mum is out of the house.
  10. Anyone play Shadowrun on 360 or PC? Just bought it off ebay and it looks great in training mode but not done the multiplayer in anger yet (scared to get my ass whipped!). Any tips out there?
  11. Just ordered console plus Wii play (for extra controller) for combined £210 from game.co.uk (also get 2100 points bonus points 1pt = 1p) with free delivery so not a bad deal. Will be ordering Wariowares also. Now my misses can go balling whilst I slice and dice with the locust horde!
  12. Weird sounds just about up my street! What is all this fitness testing? what game is it on?
  13. Advice required - I have a 360 for my own indulgence but am considering getting a Wii for "party mode". I don't want to go overboard with cost so what do I need? Specifically some comments on: Remotes/Controllers/Nunchucks - what they do? how many needed? price Games - must haves / nice to own / fun Cables - options / visual impact / price Also, would 360/wii be able to connect via same broadband router (bt 8mb)? Thanks
  14. Oh yeah and if youu're talking Discharge the first port of call must be "Fight Back", a proper anarchist anthem (unless we start talking Crass and stuff )
  15. And another one ...... If you think Kaiser Chiefs are good checki out Emergency by 999 - think you will be pleasantly surprised
  16. KILLING JOKE!!!! Possibly the best band of the last 3 decades (IMHO). I've even got my 9yo listening to Requiem and The Wait on his MP3 Player. How can you not like a band that has an album released in 1980 called "Killing Joke" that is then possibly surpassed in 2003 by an album called "Killing Joke"? Implant - "tear up your ID cards and shove em up your arse - all you want to do is f**king control". SUPERB. Unfortunately Jaz aint a well guy but they still put out another awesome album last year. Hope they can tour soon. For any of you modern "punks" or anyone inot serious rock check em out. By the way, Dave Grohl (ex Nirvana and Foo Fighters front man) repaid KJ for stealing the Eighties riff (on teen spirit) by playing drums on the 2003 KJ album - how is that for homage?
  17. winavi converter does avi/wmv/vob converter. Its not free .......... supposedly
  18. Nothing unpatriotic about that TND. McClaren is a fool and, unbelievable I know, a step bakc from SGE!! McClaren will definitely fail to qualify - it just remains to be seen how long the FA will leave him in charge. Considering that they are STILL paying wages of SGE I don't believe there is much chance of a change in the near future. Unfortunatley! You only have to look at McClaren's first couple of weeks in charge to make a judgement - any man who appoints Max Clifford to give him media advice and then sack him within a week .............. what a joker.
  19. Methane Hydrate ........YAWN! You have been taken in by the propaganda of the doom-merchants! The more I hear of this debate the more I become convinced that there is no case to answer. The eventual outcome will be ........ - more nuclear power stations - western nations less reliant on foreign nations for energy needs - china and india will continue their development unabated - the anti-capitalist lobby will move onto the next big thing (nuclear power haha!) - everyone will conveniently forget about the scientific hype Genuine question ............. have any Nobel prizes been awarded for climate change research??
  20. The only thing that is certain in the climate-change debate is that there are many economic and political vested interests who all try to put a favourable slant on this for their own benefits. Think about who is involved and what their motivations may be ........ - oil and energy corporations - the nulcear lobby - automotive industry, airlines, public transport, etc etc - western governments hoping to put a brake on chinese economic development (and future superpower status) - eu trying to develop back-door protectionism against "polluting" US goods - national politiicans looking for taxation opportunities - religions .................... blimey does homo sapiens -induced climate change debunk the god-myth?? lol - ambitious scientists / polliticans trying to make a name for themselves (they don't bend the facts do they?) - jealous scientists trying to embarass rivals - media hyperbole and thirst for another story (forgot about the imminent asteroid strike?) - the rest of us hooked on reality tv looking for a real-life fix of sensationalism and doom-and-gloom I don't know the reality of climate change except that it does occur as a natural process and that I need an awful lot more scientific FACT before I can decide if mankind is having any significant additional effect. However I am inclined to think that reducing pollution would be a good thing. Remember the reaction to Copernicus when he had the cheek to suggest that the earth went round the sun!
  21. To be honest the only person I feel sorry for in this is Curbishley> He has always stuck me as a straight-forward decent bloke (much like MH actually) who is a sold manager. As for old Eggert-the-Crunch, well I would think a supposed successful businessman may have seen the sting coming (£85m wow!). He has the face of a man that finally realises he has been taken in by a rather obvious confidence trick! Oh the joys of Das Kapital!
