  1. A very sad day in the history of Blackburn Rovers. He was such a great guy to talk to about the "good old days". My condolences to Val and the family
  2. But just who was the lucky fan who received a pair of David Bentley's old boots before the kick off.? Bentley made a bee-line to a group of supporters behind the goal, signed a few autographs, and gave one guy a pair of football boots. Pity he never cleaned them first though
  3. Somehow, I dont think you have read all the posts on this topic. Please see my earlier posting December 12th. This post has nothing at all to with Selwyn Froggitt
  4. A few years ago before Sports Soccer took over, the Rovers shop was great for Christmas presents like mirrors, glasses, wine goblets, bottles of wine, pictures of the ground, etc. etc. Now it is mainly cheap clothing that shrinks went washed once and a few shirts and hats. Not very satisfactory for what should be a club shop.
  5. Regardless of whether it is Lens or Odense BK in 3rd place, is the 1st leg on 14th or 15th February away or can it be either of those two dates?
  6. Surely Lens finished on 4 points with a zero goal difference with Odense BK also on 4 points with a minus 1 goal difference
  7. You are quite correct when you say she is the daugther of Bill Maynard, but not the Heartbeat character of "Greengrass". Her Father is Bill Maynard, a local Blackburn guy who is a regular contributor to Touchline tales in the Lancashire Telegraph and a committee member of Blackburn Sunday Football League
  8. Not too sure why you are blaming the referee.Just exactly what did he do wrong.? If you are referring to the 1st goal, that certain members of the CIS stand seemed to think may have been off-side, that is down to the assistant, and the referee would not over rule in that quadrant. The sending off of Henchoz was unfortunate but Mr Gallagher had no choice but to produce a red card. So why was is performance inept? The main culprits were the Rovers players themselves, certainly in the first half.
  9. The view from the room looks rather familiar. Excellent pictures.
  10. to re-iterate savage was extremly lucky not to get sent off. Lucas Neill was also very fortunate not to get a second yellow when he was penalised for hand ball that looked pretty deliberate but Mark Clattenburg only gave a free kick
  11. To the best of my knowledge the following testimonials have been played at Ewood Park since 1960: April 24th 1961 Bill Eckersley. 12. To those fans who made the trip to Austria and Germany and now to the Netherlands, does any one know if official programmes were issued at the games or if not, were any team sheets issued?
  13. I understand that the Hamburg game is on satalite DSF live on Sunday with a number of local pubs showing the game
  14. [quote He must view that booking after the match and take it back. Why? A deliberate hand ball is a cautionable offence. Chris Foy had no no option but to dismiss Savage.
  15. This is a direct train from Manchester Piccadilly at 06.57 arriving at Cardiff at 10.29. The normal return fare is £43.80 although an Apex fare booked 7 days in advance will cost £29. For an Apex fare you have to stipilate an exact return train. Two choices are 15.44 or 16.44 from cardiff arriving at Manchester at 19.13 or 20.07 respectively
  16. Following my faxed application sent on Tuesday to the ticket office, I was very pleased with the excellent service. I received a telephone call this morning from a young lady at the ticket office who gave me options of exactly where I wanted to sit. Went for 2 tickets at £35 each in Lower Tier Block L7 in the BT stand. Will be sent within a few days by registered mail. After all the adverse publicity on previous ocassions, it was very gratifying to see they can help when required.
  17. This is a trip being run through the Lancashire Evening Telegraph with a hotel booked in SWINDON. They will though take you in by coach to the ground and back out again to the hotel
  18. My information is that the tickets will be in a 3-tier price band of £25, £35 or £45
  19. The end of the line then for Tony. It was almost inevitable that he would leave at some stage. A wonderful servant to the club over the past 35 years. Also , a really nice guy who would always do anything for you. I hope he enjoys his retirement
  20. I am missing Rovers away at Southampton November 9th 2002 and Everton away December 14th 2002. Can anybody help?
  21. He was a young Morroccan lad who was based in Abtenau, where the Rovers were playing and turned out to be the son of a contact of Graeme Souness. He was never seen again
