I can see why they are called Sheffield Wednesday. I have been worrying about this game since Wednesday. 😉 -

Sadly in our season the word comfortable is not one I would associate with a a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. This lot have been unlucky and the new manager has given them hope. And they are fighters. I hope Leeds or Sunderland Rovers turn up not Bristol City Rovers. I think it may be 1-1. And we might end up happy with that after a close shave. -
I tell you what. We have signed some wrong’uns in our time. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/12288180/anthony-stokes-celtic-jail-ordeal-hibs/amp/

From Sunderland AFC News “As much as there’s pressure on Dodds and the players to finish the season on some kind of high, there’s arguably even more pressure on owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and sorting director Kristjaan Speakman. The pair have arguably landed the club in this predicament with some poor transfer planning and managerial decisions. Sunderland lack quality across the pitch and experience overall, and with a manager to hire in the summer, it’s certainly making for a critical pre-season on Wearside.” FYI The owner has a 64% ownership. Oh and he is 26. Probably thinks he is playing 3D FIFA. -

Fine result at the perfect time for us. Attackers have confidence and defence playing well. We need that winning feeling around the dressing room. Confidence fuels momentum. Hope we can give some of the hopefuls a run for their money now. We were a hopeful this time last season. -
Welcome to the pleasure dome. I know too much about Town My brother is a fan. Funny how all your truly sh#te managers recently were called Paul. The stars have aligned for you. Owners with a vision and increasing investment. An outstanding manager whose time has come and very good signings for the right positions. I wish you well and that you gain promotion without having to play Norwich in the play offs. With one proviso. You gift us 1-0 victory in the 80th minute. You don’t need the away points. We need the home points. May the most needy team win 😉

And we certainly don’t want a slow centre back against their forwards. Morsy in midfield makes Travis look like a cherub. -

So I am a little confused. We didn't get the Sunderland chap because he was over 30. Then all of a sudden we get two over 30 year olds in this window. One is out for the season and the other banned because he is a trifle slow. -

The basic problem is that everyone below us is winning.🤔 There are two places downstairs now and Wednesday are on a tear. Won 5 games out of 6 with a worse owner than us. At least he was smart enough to sign a good manager -
“I left Blackburn because it was a difficult situation,” he said. “Of course, they cut the budget. I signed up for a project which changed, that was the reason.” What a shocker that’s a first in football. Unheard of in the championship. 🤔 We will see how this cozy little number goes. There is an expression Winners never quit and quitters never win.

John Eustace - our head coach

To be fair we have been walking on eggshells to get points. JE doesn’t want to ship goals and take us down. Hopefully this game has boosted our confidence and we have many more options, as everyone showed their capabilities. An opportunity to play more off the front foot. What pleased me so much was that we subbed three pivotal players and brought on three relative unknowns and they rose to the task. -
Sick Sick Sick. Proud Proud Proud. So many good performances from those on edges of the squad. Confidence of the players and the shape even with the three changes was excellent. At least the manager has options in the next few games. Buckley looks a new signing and Markanday has his best game for us.

Rovers gloves on for a chilly morning walk, Rovers shirt ready for the game. I’m all in. This isn’t just a cup game for our players. It is a career game. A chance to catch the eye. A chance to make the headlines. A chance to become a legend. Those chances don’t happen very often. Yesterday has gone, tomorrow isn’t here. All we have is today. Let’s do this Rovers.

Jack was a hometown boy who made his money and gave it back to his community club. Perfect culture fit. The money of course helped Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle, not so much. Good culture at Ipswich now after a succession of Bobbins managers and owners. -

I am not so sure you could call the Liverpool subs money men. As a football fan it gave me enormous pleasure to see very inexperienced players lifting that trophy. Very much down to an extraordinary manager. As someone said, not many managers love their players. Klopp loves his players. I may be wrong but I am getting the feeling that Eustace has a deeper bond with the players than JDT did. He seemed more aloof and was more concerned about his own career path. What I do know is that money can’t buy a thriving and positive culture in a football club or any organization. -

And Harvey Elliott lifts the Carabao cup. The kids beat the money men. Building a team of youngsters that can win is a good strategy. But you need a big Mac or Van Dijyk at the back to give confidence. Eustace has to get the best out of our youngsters by building the confidence again and getting the senior players hungry again. I think he can do it once we are out of the brown stuff.
