  1. From an Everton fan - He beat Chelsea 3-1 and drew with Arsenal and Leicester in an unbeaten spell as interim Everton Manager after Marco Silva left. Lost 1-0 to Villa in his sole game in charge this season. Most Everton fans want him as our permanent boss further down the line but want to see him "earn his spurs" for a few years somewhere else. Many wanted him this time instead of Frank. Really good option for you I'd say. One thing he is, is very loyal and if things were going well, you'd get him for years I reckon.

  2. I won't be watching the BAFTA's or the Academy Awards this year, God spare us all the political speeches by Streep & Co, celebrity bandwagon jumpers and vacuous to boot.
    But.
La La Land will probably win everything, and is a pale imitation of 'Lion', the deserved winner and a flick that has turned me into a wreck, ridiculously fabulous.

  3. Anyone else watch To Walk Invisible? One of the best pieces of TV I've seen for a long time. My wife wanted to watch and, expecting a soppy Victorian approach, I only kept half an eye on the TV. Within 5 minutes I put the paper down and was gripped.

She really wanted you to watch it didn't she ? Did she let go when you needed a pee ?

  4. I hate tennis. Wimbledon fortnight is a good time to book a holiday abroad. They say that golf is a sport for the rich but tennis is more so with the personal coaches etc. for anyone who wants to succeed. Also Murray IS an English hating sweaty turd.

Daft post, I look forward to the all England club every year. It's typical of the British to moan about how poor we are at a particular sport then chuck brickbats at someone who excels and achieves world status. Incredible ignorance really.

Andy Murray has earned ALL the plaudits fair and square, a genuine, hard working dedicated proffessional. Fantastic son and ignore the bitters.

  5. Oh for the days of The Vulcan and The Peel! :(

In one of the back rooms of the Vulcan was an old fireplace with a small, wooden shelf over it. My mate Gus Goldsbrough kept laughing and asked me to put Whole Lotta Rosie on the jukebox.

I finally gave in and on it went.

Straight away a local loon some how climbed onto the shelf over the fireplace facing the wall, (narrow, his feet were at quarter to three) and danced to the whole record without falling off.

    THAT'S a pub.
