  1. We've been away re-charging our pod batteries but we are back & back with a packed episode.

Our star guest interviewee is Tez Ilyas who shares his Rovers supporting history & what it's like to be back on the road, audiences becoming more daring & being mistaken for a Man Utd fan.

We hear about fanzine culture with Scott from 4000 Holes & Chris from Turnstiles magazine, Mr & Mrs Arthur explain False Nines in their own inimitable style, we eavesdrop on Steve & Tony's phone calls about fund-raising ideas & find out who shops in Waitrose in West Byfleet.

Listen right to the end for a chance to win a special prize !

Brilliant game, I’m still buzzing. Just read the last few pages and I love that everyone has a different MoM, it shows what a good team performance that was. My vote goes to Ayala, first time I’ve seen him at his absolute best and he was very impressive indeed. I’m shocked to think that I would potentially have Gallagher as runner up, but really all of our attackers were excellent today.

Don’t forget to go to Match Centre to vote…

I have to take exception with this Herbie with the greatest of respect.

Gordon Lee in 1975, Howard Kendal in 1980, fantastic seasons for the club and its supporters.

The promotion from league one under Mowbray seems to be frowned upon on here rather than celebrated, thats not right, we are hardly blessed with promotions over the past 50yrs, lets not chalk them off as somehow below us.

The Oxford game with 28,000 fans on Ewood was just brilliant, I never thought I'd see those numbers again, just superb for me.

Hi Gav - I’m not looking down on the Mowbray promotion at all, if it came across that way it wasn’t intended. That season rekindled my failing relationship with Rovers specifically & football generally & I loved it, as I did 1975 & 1980.

The point I was trying to make (& seemingly failing..🤦‍♂️) is that since 1995/2002 there is a whole generation for whom that promotion season is the high watermark & after enjoying a season of victories, a drab season finishing 15th is poor fare by comparison.

Josh made the point higher up that we have a swathe of fans who enjoy beating Oldham in L1 more than struggling against say Middlesbrough in the Championship - I think that’s true. Watching a winning side is hugely enjoyable.

  4. At some point…excuse me…the chickens come home to roost…

Not just for Rovers, but for all the Championship clubs not in receipt of parachute payments. A look down the road at Accrington Stanley shows us all what a fully-functioning club looks like where owner, manager & fans all are on the same page. The Championship is a financial basket case where economic madness rules.

I too suspect that a whole generation of fans look back on our League One sojourn as a high watermark of entertainment & enjoyment.

Ah, that brings back fond memories. Our club shop was at the back of Shoe Zone in town in those days. I remember going in as a kid with my dad, excited to buy the new away shirt only to then see it. "Nah, we'll leave it" was the agreed response 😁.

It was in the days of no internet, no social media. There was something quite fun in not knowing what our new kits looked like upon release, until you visited the club shop or if you managed to see somebody wearing it out and about. Imagine that today.

I remember once being faxed (ask your parents) a photo from the Telegraph 🤣

I very rarely comment on here but read a lot.

Most of what is written aligns with my views.

However, it often comes across to me that any other opinions in the fan base are sneered at as though they are from less intelligent/clued up supporters.

I know of people who have stopped using this site for thst reason.

FWIW This viewpoint has also been shared with me on many occasions.

sorry to just jump on this thread without reading it all through properly, I'm not commenting on the subject matter at all right now just wanted to give my opinion on "screen grabs" in general, and that is that they should be banned and phones should have the action removed.

screen grabbing and Sharing private messages and images (usually cherry picked out of context from private conversations) causes so much trouble & embarrassment and in my opinion it's just a horrible sneaky two faced thing to do and makes it impossible to trust talking openly to anybody online these(even with actual friends)  😞

    Sorry, little rant over. 🙈

Facebook, Twitter & indeed BRFCS are public forums.
