  1. We've already blow 800k plus add ons probably on Leo so the chances of any keeper changes are virtually zero i'm afraid. The only chance was when Pears was doing ok earlier under Eustace he might have caught the attention of another Champ club who want an English keeper in their squad for a modest fee. That would've freed up a wage and position but i dread t think who Broughton would've foisted on us next, most likely Leo !!!
  2. We continue the Waggot Venky express train to be the new Crewe of League 1. Income targets reduced and easier to hit. Wage budget and matchday expense reduced and easier to manage with less from India. Academy downgrade and merged with first team on one site - cheaper and easier to manage. Pathway to first team squad easier for more players. Less big money sales but more quicker cheaper ones with add ons to Championship clubs. Ta ta DoF in cost saving measure but CEO and Shadow remain in well paid part time work running it all.
  3. A brainless one seeing as Coventry are likely to be pushing a result or at least just celebrating another good season and having a party in their last away fixture. Roll up roll up to the Ewood red carpet Sky Blues, if you're lucky you might get gifted a goal or two as well.
  4. Brittain, Hedges, JRC, Markandy, Garrett, Pickering, Wharton should all be above average in league 1 consistently. Pears will still be Pears and Leo will shit bricks at the amount of hoofs and set pieces coming at him in that league. All the other pros will be gone and the rest of the youngsters have it all to prove, it will be a long hard winter for sure.
  5. Iv'e said it many times since we aren't losing that pathetic last min goal to Coventry at Ewood with TK in the sticks. Main difference is though he was a keeper who earns points with vital saves at crucial points in games, Pears and his ilk still make good stops but 9/10 a half decent effort will beat him too easily. It''s those fine margins between real class and bang average.
  6. The main point being once Weds went two up down that end having so many fans having a carnival in one end became more of a help to them than it should have been. And it was avoidable so why give teams that opportunity in the first place in what was really a one off 6 pointer not a run of the mill game.
  7. Yes Pears has rescued both him and Hyam a time or three this season from their constant presenting the ball to the opposition.
  8. I see nothing in him or his style that would give us a real chance of bouncing straight back his football would only prosper in league one if he can bring in a couple of bruisers at the back and a couple of strikers. I'm still mixed in opinion on his actual impact since taking over as although he made strides tightening up there are half a dozen games where we can justifiably say we should have have been displaying a clear 'must win' attitude but didn't. If we do survive it's going to be by the skin of or teeth rather than some heroic rescue act by him but yes the problems run deeper as we say on Sunday.
  9. Yep the Weds fans only really influenced their side once they'd been gifted two goals again down that end, one a counter and piss poor defending again and one the howler of the century. Not much action at all in front of the home end until Markandy came on apart from Sammie missing one he should have scored. 'But why are you not cheering'....
  10. That's because it's always been a small town family club fanbase and a fairly big ground not often full, plenty other clubs have the same type of fanbase. It's the stadium itself that is the giant white elephant way too big and way too accommodating for visiting fans from much larger areas. PNE and Burnley, Blackpool and Bolton fans no different whatsoever....their stadiums are though. As someone who has travelled all over supporting Rovers through various periods of form etc i will die on the hill that most places are the same when their team is shite, their are problems at the club or there is nothing to play for. The exceptions are very rare but again most don't have a stadium way to big for their core fanbase and town. Coventry, Sheff Weds, Derby, Stoke, Boro, Sunderland, West Brom, Villa, Brum, to name a few iv'e visited regularly over last decade or so and all shite atmosphere and empty seats all over the gaff when things weren't going well. Yet again amongst our small minded fans it only ever happens at Ewood !!! Have some of you lot ever actually been anywhere else apart from when Rovers were on a good run ?
  11. Yep another day of watching a rowdy DE full of big city day trippers on piss enjoying their big day out at Ewood ! From another club reborn from the doldrums whilst we trudge aimlessly on providing a gravy train and nest egg for a few useless disconnected individuals in head office. But hey why aren't there 20k in home sections cheering from the rooftops this team who've let us down for 3/4 of the season ?
  12. We've got a lilly livered soft centre in the squad again moaning about it instead of appreciating where they are and the support they actually get. They are flinging out excuses again left right and centre and we are yet again falling for the 'blame the fans' deflection tactics. Oh just outshout them from the other end ? Still doesn't make much difference when the opposition are attacking their end repeatedly because their players are set up better and trying harder. They are STILL kicking into a massed bank of seven thousand fans even if there is 20 thousand in the other end ! When you get a big city team coming you have a lower tier full of mainly aled up blokes between the ages of 16-60, when you look in the Blackburn End lower tier you have a real mix of age, gender, kids and family groups it's a different demographic they ain't going to be bouncing round the stand unless the team is having a real go down that end. It was no different when we were challenging the top of the Prem. Don't fall for the narrative twisting agenda it's all down to the players to lift the negative vibe this ownership and those running this club have created over the last decade.
  13. Repeated mistakes and poor in general is the real issue and it'll happen again that's why he remains in the spotlight. This isn't a Tim Flowers or Paul Robinson isolated incident in a top level god knows how many games difference. Calamity James and Joe Hart in between regular bloopers produced world class performances there is no comparison. Yes still early in his career and he's never getting to those levels but a team like us cannot afford TWO such poor keepers.
  14. Raya always had monumental potential and TK came in as the finished article so the job was certainly made easier with those keepers. Steele was bang average and went backwards at a rate of knots once John Keeley left so i think coaches can make a difference but an even bigger one imo is made by working alongside a good established number 1 for the number 2 and back up. As said though without the raw materials and natural ability the best coaches in the world can't make a good keeper and Pears to me has always looked as if he isn't a natural just someone who has to work really hard just to get to grips with the basics. Leo actually does look like a sharp and agile more natural keeper but isn't suited to this standard of British football yet but with both of these we continue to suffer because of the new 'development' model being put before results and ambition. Nothing highlights it more than the entire keeper dept.
  15. Yep but the lazy and the clueless who run the club won't acknowledge the desperate need to reboot the season ticket base and get as many home fans in as possible. They'll just say if we restrict the 4 or 5 potential huge followings per season ticket prices will have to rise again to cover it. No interest whatsoever in the cost of points or home fans being pissed off with it. The DoF should be walking into Waggot and the shadow mans offices and saying 3 times you've filled that end with away fans this season and 3 times we've lost with many of the goals coming at that end and a few resulting from complete howlers. That's 9 points. Of course there is the bigger picture but it also needs acknowledging they've created a development team as a first team propped up by a few senior pros so the dynamics are different than they were a few years ago. A squad of 30% home grown kids, young loanees and average journeymen needs and environment it can thrive in and use every advantage possible in the quest for enough points to tread water. Restrict the big city teams to 5k filling upstairs first that's more than adequate and food for thought is Sheff Weds if that was a dead rubber would've brought 2.5 to 3.5k tops. So for a few extra quid that will neither make or break the financial mess at Rovers we've rolled over and allowed them double that for their big day out and most important game so far. Well done.
  16. You've just got to keep it out of the net it's as simple as that and although maybe a free kick conceded you have actually covered your howler by saving it. Anything can happen with a free kick you have to give yourself that option.
  17. Anybody higher up the food chain at Ewood looking at that Pears vid which doesn't even cover the many many should have done better ones will surely have no doubts whatsoever now we need a real keeper. I'm absolutely convinced he could easily have dived onto that miss kick when he spun round instead of following it into the net, where is the instinct ? Is he a failed outfield player who decided to try and be a keeper because of his dad and nepotism more than natural ability has got him this far ?
  18. I hope Broughton is making a list of head coaches capable of dragging us back at the first attempt and making maybe his one and only worthwhile contribution since turning up here the over rated lickspittle. Because no way is this fella doing it not a chance there is very little comparison to be had with Mowbrays attempts to stay up, yes he was too conservative himself but there were enough green shoots to offer some hope. If we do drop though he really should be 3rd out of the door behind Waggot and Eustace.
  19. I'm sure it was advised by the police and probably requested by JDT for the dingle game but the only reason it happened was because of the cup run/tv income Waggot had exceeded his income target for the season by some way. Otherwise it is nailed on he'd have turned over as much as the fuzz would allow for that game.
  20. First half we were far from good but reasonably comfortable and after the lively start the whole thing had an air of both teams being happy not to lose. Second half they were the ones who came out to win it - kicking into a bank of 7k fans who then got up for it - whilst we strolled out looking like the instruction was 'as you were'. He doesn't seem the most inspiring guy but we have a long recent history of being the most consistent in the league at not being able to turn games around anyway. He is also yet another with no plan B whatsoever and subs for subs sake rather than spotting something to unlock the opposition. Staying in a job as a head coach or manager is hard but feck me i wish i worked in football as getting coaching badges and getting a well paid gig is a piece of cake obviously.
  21. When i showed the Pears goal to a non football supporting 17 year old who plays a bit the first thing he said was wow that's bad for a pro keeper but hang on surely he could have batted it away instead of running into the net with it ? Similarly my pals 80 year old mam said 'he could've caught that' when i nipped round there for a brew on the way home, he was in hysterics of course. That sums up how ridiculous it was it was more than just a bobble it was awful awful goalkeeping. Nobody does it on purpose every keeper gets caught out occasionally but with this lad you expect it it's no surprise at all. I do feel for him a bit and he will bounce back but there'll be another and another because he isn't a reliable number 1 the lad is a back up keeper at this level that much is clear now. Can't do that here though because the football experts have brought in an even more naive one to compete.
