  1. Could be resting on getting someone out though, Mulgrews wages would come in handy.
  2. For some reason i thought Harper came from somewhere else but i take your point. Mine still stands though on the point about they can't be surprised at the wages quoted but no way are half the Prems kids on that money. So it's fair to presume he's referring to enquires at the likes of City/Chelsea/Liverpool etc. It's nice they want quality youth but as mentioned it represents false economy when you are just finishing midtable and only seem to aim for marginal gains. However there will be some good ones to be had from other Prem clubs but going off the ones listed he seems to want flash types and they just aren't suited to our style or this league really. Didn't we have some kid from Chelsea fairly recently or am i mixing names up again ? Not Kane, i mean under Mowbray.
  3. Like i said originally the min we are in for an ex Boro lad we land them but seem to miss everything else. He's more or less confirming in that that it isn't always down to money he isn't doing the convincing selling job on them. Comments also on good young players on 1.5 mill per year but no way on earth are they all on that. He only seems to look at City/Chelsea and Liverpools good youngsters so i don't know what they expect. There are lots of others out there and other clubs manage it yet again it's like Rovers are unique in this situation. Out of all the top club young loanees we've had only really one was really looking like he warranted the hype. Think outside the box a bit and look a bit deeper than the fanciful stuff.
  4. Speaking of Wycombe the time Simon Garner took Nob End to the cleaners at Wembley whilst playing for them was a thing of beauty. Since they got back in this division their fans have been like Burnley fans on acid it's hilarious to observe that Rovers chip on their shoulders the size of Ewood. They've punched way above their weight last few years mainly due to their bold manager and Uncle Racehorse but he's no Jack Walker or even Venkys. The sales will come around soon then they'll combust.
  5. Think i'd look to loan Davenport if they aren't going to use him, wouldn't close the door completely yet. Evans is Evans he merits a place in the squad but given his injuries, his international commitments and wages i think i'd take the chance to move him on if there was a good offer. Only if we were replacing him with something good though like Whiteman otherwise i'd get rid of Johnson and look to phase Evans out this season unless he proves otherwise.
  6. Yep bring a better one in and move one out, that's how improving is done.
  7. If the right manager had got hold of him at the right time he'd still have been a terrible footballer but they might have made something of his graft and fitness. Our academy experts should've made him into a right back but there's no money in that they saw £££ from marketing him as this all action midfielder then selling him. Allardyce or Hughes might have done summat with him for a while but his emergence was with that conman so true to form everybody got conned for a while. Probably including the player himself into thinking he was better than he was, somebody should have had him watching endless vids of Savage and those types. Even harrassing in midfield and closing down is an artform any fit player can do the headless chicken routine. Number of times teams walked straight through the great holes he left used to boil my blood.
  8. Mowbray usually is said to have certain fitness criteria that has to be met. Wouldn't be surprised if Ayala has to wait a while. Probably all centres around what they are doing with Williams.
  9. If nobody is offering Maddison anything there must be a good reason, or bad one more likely. Unless he's just another thick greedy footballer holding out for money above his station.....whilst earning nothing.
  10. Who was it Nixon was saying was eyeing up a 5 million bid about 5 years ago ? Some say TM should've been sacked for signing Brereton. Well Gary should have fell on his sword because of his obsession with this lad.
  11. Shades of Luton Town in this one but i think we'll get the draw in the end. Be interesting seeing if Ainsworth can out think Mowbray tactically. Rovers 2 Wycombe 2
  12. You'll have to go a fair way to find a center half his age who can pass out like he could at this level. However i'd take someone who puts himself first to the ball and the does the basics really well consistently over that any day. Like you say though the bombing full backs will cost us many times this seasons against the better teams unless there are very good quick center defenders covering.
  13. A crafty little ploy to make the Riverside not worth opening perhaps ? Or just another 'oh they'll pay it' squeeze on some of what they know are the loyalest fans ? Wouldn't put much past this shitehawk swaggo although i'm probably giving him too much credit i doubt it was thought out much at all.
  14. Spoiled by Tosins passing and technical ability not really with defensive side of it although he wasn't bad. We've been crying out for the basics for years i hope he brings it.
  15. They did beat Bolton though so .... Cracking team they had for a while chock full of talent i used to enjoy watching them stick it up some of the big boys. Attitude of some of their fans leaves a lot to be desired though but like us most of them know who and what they are.
  16. A season or two after they brought less than 700.....when Mogga was manager. Kind of sums up Boro.
  17. If he was carving his career a league or two below Breretons all round game would probably look a little bit more effective. A complete knee jerk signing where the manager didn't know what he wanted him for and 2 years later the player still doesn't appear to know what he's supposed to be doing. My guess is he might turn into one of those flat track bully types where he'll run riot the odd game against crap opposition, then disappear completely the rest of the time.
  18. No mate these vids are more my era. Remember them bringing about a thousand in the cup once. Rough game and it all went off outside afterwards.
  19. Trav injured now I detest these early cup games these days. Just not equipped enough numbers wise to make enough changes. Played well tonight no real complaints. Think this over reliance on bombing full backs who never really create much will undo us time and again this season. We already knew that though and everyone isn't as good as Bournemouth & Newcastle so that'll be our saving grace
  20. Only a raw kid then to be fair, how long's Derek been around now ? Nice to see Pompeys following a little more realistic as it used to be before their Prem purple patch and bus loads coming up with band and bell ringer.
  21. I think Mowbray tried to integrate him quite a lot last season but he's never quite clicked. Sometimes we have to look at the player and it's probably time to try something different than this lad.
  22. Good effort and not before time so any moaning at both manager and owners has been fully justified. Bowyers era got Duffy in and even Coyles reign saw Mulgrew signed so it's about time Mowbray & Swaggo delivered a decent defender so no need for squabbling, point scoring or i told you so's. Let's all get behind him and hope it was worth the wait.
  23. Exactly, there's no excuse for that whatsoever are the public not struggling a little bit more than the football club ? They are saving easily 1 million pounds on last season just by not paying Graham & Downing anymore. £25 to 50 quid fair enough but more than that is an ignorant piss take by the fat man.
  24. Sooner he completely lands on the scrapheap the better, still he probably has the right agents to end up a well paid pundit. Represents everything wrong with football that #### !
  25. Remember a load of us listening to the later stages of that at a mates house after 5 a side. He wasn't a rovers fan but we blagged him to put it on and all piled in when we were dropping him off. Everybody asking who's that David Dunn !
